So, China (who has had its share of recent record cold weather) says CO2's role isn't clear but act to cut emissions anyway?

What's really surprising about this story isn't the bit about China, who--having gotten a taste of capitalistic success--isn't about to give up on oil. What's really surprising (or not really surprising) is that Reuters still insists that "most scientists" have the view the CO2 is the culprit in global warming. And that's simply NOT TRUE. That's the BS lie with which our mainstream media continues trying to brainwash us, but where's their evidence that most scientists feel this way? Where's their poll of 100% of the world's scientists to show that >50% believe CO2 is causing warming? There isn't such a poll to demonstrate this claimed consensus. BEIJING, March 10 (Reuters) - China’s top climate negotiator said on Wednesday that the cause of global warming was still not clear but the problems it was creating were so serious that the world must anyway act to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Xie Zhenhua, vice-chairman of the powerful National Development and Reform Commission, also warned the United States it should not use domestic divisions over climate change as an excuse to pass its responsibilities off onto other countries.

“There are still two different viewpoints in the scientific field about the cause of warming,” Xie told a news conference on the sidelines of the annual session of China’s largely rubber-stamp parliament.

The Science and Public Policy Institute announces the publication of Climate Money, a study by Joanne Nova revealing that the federal Government has a near-monopsony on climate science funding. This distorts the science towards self-serving alarmism. Key findings:

Ø      The US Government has spent more than $79 billion of taxpayers’ money since 1989 on policies related to climate change, including science and technology research, administration, propaganda campaigns, foreign aid, and tax breaks. Most of this spending was unnecessary.

Ø      Despite the billions wasted, audits of the science are left to unpaid volunteers. A dedicated but largely uncoordinated grassroots movement of scientists has sprung up around the globe to test the integrity of “global warming” theory and to compete with a lavishly-funded, highly-organized climate monopsony. Give Up Certain Foods and Alcohol to Fight Warming

I truly hope all this hogwash fails like the stupid BS it is! I will not stop eating food that I prefer; I will not stop drinking alcohol. I will not stop driving a gas-powered car. I will not stop eating tomatoes. I will keep using regular light bulbs as long as they're available. I’ll use the toilet paper that’s necessary. On each Earth Day or Earth Hour, I will turn on every light in my house and run my vehicles in the driveway too.

Out will go kebabs, greenhouse tomatoes and alcohol. Instead, diners will be encouraged to consume more potatoes and seasonal vegetables, as well as pork and chicken, which generate fewer carbon emissions.

'Disappearing' Ice Actually Getting Thicker

More ice melting dumbness. Most of the mainstream media (except London’s Telegraph) will not report on this story. I should say that they may report on it in a sense to still highlight “global warming” as a reality, but they’ll omit the part about the US Army buoys and the antithetical data that shows there’s no real problem with thinning ice. The 'Global Warming Three' are on thin ice

The only problem with a project to prove that Arctic ice is disappearing is the fact that it is actually getting thicker, says Christopher Booker.

What a wonderful parable of our time has been the expedition to the North Pole led by the explorer Pen Hadow. With two companions, he is measuring the thickness of the ice to show how fast it is “declining”. His expedition is one of a series of events designed to “raise awareness of the dangers of climate change” before December’s conference in Copenhagen, where the warmists hope to get a new treaty imposing much more drastic cuts on CO2 emissions.

The idea is that the expedition should take regular radar fixes on the ice thickness, to be fed into a computer model in California run by Professor Wieslaw Maslowski, whose team, according to the BBC, “is well known for producing results that show much faster ice-loss than other modelling teams”. The professor predicts that summer ice could be completely gone as early as next year. It took the Watts Up With That? science blog to point out that there is little point in measuring ice thickness unless you do it several years running, and that, anyway, Arctic ice is being constantly monitored by US Army buoys. The latest reading given by a typical sensor shows that since last March the ice has thickened by “at least half a metre”.

After the story appeared on FOXNews.com, a spokeswoman called back to say their estimate was incorrect and the savings was $24,000, but then called back a third time to say it was really $102.

Earth Hour — 8:30 to 9:30 p.m in every time zone on the planet — promises to be “the largest demonstration of public concern about climate change ever attempted," U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said earlier this month.

TASMANIA faces an ominous and burgeoning epidemic of chronic disease in its climate change future, the State's Director of Public Health said yesterday.

Dr Roscoe Taylor said the spectre of an influenza pandemic was also very real.

The foreseeable risks to health worldwide had been documented, he said, but Tasmania faced its share of public health concerns brought about after events that could only be attributed to climate change.

He said the increased frequency of extreme weather would cause physical injury and psychological instability, as the population became anxious about storm, drought or extreme heat events.

"With changes in Tasmania's weather patterns, we will see more severe weather events," he said.

"An ageing population of people living with chronic medical conditions might not readily cope with heat stress."

I wrote about this article at length the other day. Nice to see that some REAL scientists are standing up to be counted as critics of all this relentless fear-mongering and propaganda, still occurring in the face of overwhelming scientific and empirical data that dispels the myth of global warming.

Scientists skeptical of the assertion that climate change is the result of man's activites are criticizing a recent Associated Press report on global warming, calling it "irrational hysteria," "horrifically bad" and "incredibly biased."

They say the report, which was published on Monday, contained sweeping scientific errors and was a one-sided portrayal of a complicated issue.

"If the issues weren't so serious and the ramifications so profound, I would have to laugh at it," said David Deming, a geology professor at the University of Oklahoma who has been critical of media reporting on the climate change issue.

In the article, Obama Left with Little Time to Curb Global Warming, AP Science Writer Seth Borenstein wrote that global warming is "a ticking time bomb that President-elect Barack Obama can't avoid," and that "global warming is accelerating."

Deming, in an interview, took issue with Borenstein's characterization of a problem he says doesn't exist.

"He says global warming is accelerating. Not only is it continuing, it's accelerating, and whether it's continuing that was completely beyond the evidence," Deming told FOXNews.com.

"The mean global temperature, at least as measured by satellite, is now the same as it was in the year 1980. In the last couple of years sea level has stopped rising. Hurricane and cyclone activity in the northern hemisphere is at a 24-year low and sea ice globally is also the same as it was in 1980."

Deming said the article is further evidence of the media's decision to talk about global warming as fact, despite what he says is a lack of evidence.

"Reporters, as I understand reporters, are supposed to report facts,"Deming said. "What he's doing here is he's writing a polemic and reporting it as fact, and that's not right. It's not reporting. It's propaganda.

"This reads like a press release for an environmental advocacy group like Greenpeace. It's not fair and balanced."

He took issue with the AP article's assertion that melting Arctic ice will cause global sea levels to rise.

"When the Arctic Ocean ice melts, it never raises sea level because floating ice is floating ice, because it's displacing water," O'Brien said. "When the ice melts, sea level actually goes down.

"I call it a fourth grade science experiment. Take a glass, put some ice in it. Put water in it. Mark level where water is. Let it melt. After the ice melts, the sea level didn't go up in your glass of water. It's called the Archimedes Principle."

He called sea level changes a "major scare tactic used by the global warming people."

NASA falls back on "melting ice"

Given Dr. Hansen's recent blaring mathematical errors, where he incorrectly proclaimed Oct 2008 as the warmest October ever, NASA has decided to fall back on a common empirical theme used by global warming alarmists when there are times of trouble -- THE ICE IS MELTING, THE ICE IS MELTING! Need more fear? Read the GASP! series and the warmlist.

Of course, they don't spend a lot of time (they actually avoid) talking about the ice that reforms EVERY SINGLE WINTER. When alarmist scientists have discussed ice that reforms annually in the press, they predictably downplay the "new ice" in attempts to strengthen the level of alarm in the minds and hearts of the public. In other words: "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!" These devious powers want us all to be the Cowardly Lion. Al Gore is the Wizard...Dr. Cullen is the Wicked Witch, and Dr. Hansen is one of her evil monkeys.

As expected, empirical evidence (e.g., heat waves, storms, hurricanes, etc.) that seems to support global warming as a theory is always played up in the endorsable media, while antithetical empirical evidence (that which calls global warming into question--record cold, winter storms, ice, etc.) is covered up or turned on its head as proof of AGW (this is one reason alarmists switched to the term "climate change" as opposed to "global warming"--that way man can be blamed for warming or cooling). This is why alarmists say that the cooling of recent years is a result of warming or that warming is being "masked" by cooling. See how ridiculous this is? The sun cools (fewer sunspots)? They ignore that scientific observation as a cause for our cooling, because it doesn't fit the CO2 template.

There's alarm right now in the camps of alarmists; the trend over the past few years (both scientific and empirical) has not been good for the theory of manmade global warming. For one thing...it's REALLY FRICKIN' COLD OUTSIDE, so alarmists proclaim that the cold is being caused by warming or that it's only masking the warming. Antithetical science is simply ignored or countered with supporting pseudo-science. Skeptical scientists (and there are MANY...not a few as portrayed in the media) who question the theory or ask to debate are lambasted (more proof that this crap IS NOT REAL).

The other problem for alarmists is that the economy has taken a dive, so the public is saying 'hell no!' to the expense of "solving" a nonexistent problem. Ironically, top liberals consistently said that we needed a slower economy to fight AGW; well, they got their wish! They may wish they had never wished for that, because a slower economy means fewer will support political action to address environmental issues, especially those that are questionable.

People are beginning to smell a rat, and the alarmists know it. The alarmists have all sorts of reasons for propping up this madness, so they'll keep it up...even if a new ice age takes hold. After all, any new ice age will just be proof of global warming. LOL!

WASHINGTON — More than 2 trillion tons of land ice in Greenland, Antarctica and Alaska have melted since 2003, according to new NASA satellite data that show the latest signs of what scientists say is global warming.

More than half of the loss of landlocked ice in the past five years has occurred in Greenland, based on measurements of ice weight by NASA's GRACE satellite, said NASA geophysicist Scott Luthcke. The water melting from Greenland in the past five years would fill up about 11 Chesapeake Bays, he said, and the Greenland melt seems to be accelerating.

First, they imply that "only Obama" can save us, which is just asinine, even if global warming was real--AND IT IS NOT REAL!!! This Obama-worship is really disgusting to behold, because I realize there will be ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS MAN. If he controls the press then he has absolute power to do with us and our country as he pleases.

Second, the AP echos a common alarmist theme to explain the cooling weather--GLOBAL WARMING IS CAUSING THE COOLING!!! The ultimate unified dichotomy (yes...I just contradicted myself because they certainly do)!

On the fear front, they throw in "time has run out" and animals are "going extinct"--all common fear themes we've seen time and time again.

This would be funny if it wasn't so audacious. Take antithetical empirical evidence and turn it around! This way, if it's hot out then it's global warming...and if it's cold...you guess it...global warming is causing it. They win no matter which side of the zero line the temperature waveform travels. I am a scientist and I have to follow the directions of science but when I see that the truth is being covered up I have to voice my opinions.

According to official data, in every year since 1998 world temperatures have been getting colder, and in 2002 Arctic ice actually increased. Why, then, do we not hear about that?

Americans Aim To Reduce Carbon Footprints, Despite Drop In Concern For Climate Change

For all the recent coverage of the pollution surrounding Beijing's Olympic Games, global warming has gotten relatively little attention, whether on the nightly news or on the campaign trail. While the majority of Americans still say they consider climate change a serious issue, a new poll suggests public concern over the issue has ebbed since last year.

According to a survey [PDF] from ABC News, Planet Green and Stanford University, fewer than half -- 47 percent -- of Americans consider global warming an important issue to them personally, down from 52 percent in April 2007. Although a vast majority still think the planet is warming -- 8 in 10 respondents -- that figure is also down from last year, having dropped 4 percentage points. Furthermore, in an open-ended question, the number of respondents who called global warming the biggest environmental challenge facing the world fell 8 points from 2007 and currently hovers at 25 percent.

According to an analysis by ABC News' Gary Langer, the drop in these numbers coincides with decreased media attention to climate change, in favor of the election and economy. "A database search finds 50 percent fewer news stories on global warming in the month before this poll was conducted, compared with the month before last year's survey," Langer wrote.

That dimmer media spotlight could explain respondents' lack of knowledge about how John McCain and Barack Obama measure up on global warming. About 8 in 10 respondents said they knew little or nothing about the candidates' positions on the issue. Nevertheless, the Democratic contender has a clear advantage: Fifty-five percent of respondents said Obama would do a better job of reducing global warming, while only 23 percent said so of the GOP nominee.

Respondents split evenly when pollsters asked whether government-led or market-based solutions would do a better job of reducing global warming, but they did favor government measures such as a cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions.

Americans appear to be holding themselves responsible as well for the energy crisis. About 7 in 10 respondents said they're attempting to reduce their carbon footprint, by driving less, using less electricity and recycling.

But despite the overwhelming consensus that global warming is indeed occurring, doubt over the science behind the issue is still lingers strongly in people's minds. Only 30 percent of ABC News respondents said they trust what scientists have to say about the environment "completely" or "a lot," with 39 percent saying they trust them "a moderate amount" and 30 percent saying they do not trust them. On top of that, nearly 60 percent of respondents said there is "a lot of disagreement" within the scientific community as to how dangerous climate change is.

Animal Death-Watch: All male fish!

LOL! It’s comical. Okay, I know it’s getting old, but please look at the warmlist and pay attention to the section on extinctions being attributed to global warming, and while you’re at it, look at our Animal Death-Watch series to discern just how many animals we evil humans are killing off by just breathing and pooting out more greenhouse gases.

Oh, I know...fossil fuels. But the culprit is supposedly a byproduct of fossil fuel usage—that ever-present gas called CO2 that plants just love to use to make O2 for us to breath via photosynthesis. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. It is increasing in our atmosphere. It is STILL a minor greenhouse gas compared to water vapor and methane, however, even in increasing amounts. CO2 has gone up over the past ten years while temperatures (if measurements are even accurate) have gone down (and plummeted over the past year).

Therefore, realize that GLOBAL WARMING IS NONSENSE AND NON-EXISTENT, even though the propaganda machine is trying to hold on to the pipedream as if we “doubters” are worthless sub-humans that don’t deserve to be taken seriously. The British have already beaten us Americans to sanity (70% of Brits disbelieve in global warming versus 50% of Americans). I guess we Americans are more susceptible to media stories that tell us how to think and what to believe; I applaud the British for using their brains.

Once scientists began studying the impact of global warming on everything from tourism to asthma, it was only a matter of time before they got around to sex. Now two biologists at Spain's Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) have done just that, at least when it comes to fish.

You may have missed it in biology class, but in some finned species, like the Atlantic silverside — as well as in many reptiles — sex is determined not by genetics but by temperature: the undifferentiated embryo develops testes or ovaries on the basis of whichever option conveys evolutionary advantages for that particular environment.

Now, in a study published in the July 30 edition of the scientific journal Public Library of Science, Natalia Ospina-Alvarez and Francesc Piferrer have gone a little further in explaining how that mechanism works. In laboratory tests, they have demonstrated that higher water temperatures result in more male fish.

Seems the EPA has been featured in the news a lot lately, with complaints of government interference from both parties in attempting to bias the EPA’s findings either for or against global warming. However, after I read the article, it’s obvious what the EPA scientists believe: They’re all about global warming alarmism, even though incontrovertible scientific proof and recent empirical evidence have shown the stupidity of this hoax. You should be afraid, because the SCOTUS has given the EPA broad leeway in regulating CO2 as a pollutant. Yes, that’s right. CO2—that precious, naturally occurring gas that is a waste product for us but an essential requirement for plants—has become such a boogeyman via the farcical global warming alarmism campaign that your government is likely going to “manage it.” To “manage it,” the economy of the world will have to suffer, as we’ve been told by prominent Democrats. This ultimately means socialism moves ahead in its struggle against capitalism.

Okay, so what does global warming cause? Well, EVERYTHING! Let’s go right to the source; read the news articles yourself—it will take you WEEKS to read them all. If you believe these fear-mongering idiotic stories then you believe that global warming is worse than any plague that has ever beleaguered mankind, because the warmlist and the GASP! series show just how stupid the "blame game" has become with alarmist scientists and their sycophants--the media. Kidney stones, cannibalism, extinctions of all sorts, increased infections, just to name a few. The list is long and sordid. And stupid.

All of these awful things are ascribed to anthropogenic global warming (AGW). Global warming is allegedly caused by increasing CO2 (still a minor greenhouse gas compared to water and methane), and anthropogenic CO2 increases have been attributed to Western-styled capitalism prevailing in the world (read “American-styled” capitalism). So, how do we cure all these ills? We hurt capitalism and all things capitalistic. Very simple solution. Harm capitalism and less CO2 is emitted; return more control to “government” to help “manage” CO2, and AGW will subside. Now you can see the truth of politics in play behind this supposed “scientific endeavor” to save the planet. So, it’s truly about politics, power, and profit (the 3 Ps), including believing scientists who need to continue their federally-funded climate research indefinitely in order demand government action. Quite a little scam they're all involved in together!

Open up epidemiological journals from 1998 (the so-called highest global mean temperature ever--which is statistically hilarious to assert) and peruse the data from then until now (a decade later). On almost all fronts, world health is IMPROVING. Mortality is not increasing; people ARE LIVING LONGER THAN EVER BEFORE. The mean lifespan for human beings is expanding, not shrinking. So how does that fact jibe with what this article is portending?

If there is warming (and there's not), it's actually IMPROVING OUR LIVES according to the epidemiological evidence. The theory espoused in this article is that the alleged period of warming (since before the "really warm" 1998)--and I do mean "ALLEGED"--has hurt human health, which is the opposite of the actual statistical evidence we have on-hand. For instance, in the United States alone, the adult mortality rate DROPPED 11 points for males and DROPPED 35 points for females from 1990 to 2006! (source: World Health Organization) That's nearly the entire decade since 1998, and as you can see HEALTH IS IMPROVING!!!

And climate history has shown that true warm periods do improve the health of populations and increase economic growth; just look at the Medieval Warm Period for your historical proof (a span of time climate alarmists would like you to forget about).

EPA experts detail global warming's health risks

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Government scientists detailed a rising death toll from heat waves, wildfires, disease and smog caused by global warming in an analysis the White House buried so it could avoid regulating greenhouse gases.

''Risk (to human health, society and the environment) increases with increases in both the rate and magnitude of climate change,'' scientists at the Environmental Protection Agency said. Global warming, they wrote, is ''unequivocal'' and humans are to blame.

The document suggests that extreme weather events and diseases carried by ticks and other organisms could kill more people as temperatures rise.

Allergies could worsen because climate change could produce more pollen. Smog, a leading cause of respiratory illness and lung disease, could become more severe in many parts of the country. At the same time, global warming could mean fewer illnesses and deaths due to cold.

Floods and droughts make mild diseases deadly | Reuters:

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Extreme floods and droughts brought on by climate change can turn normally harmless infections into significant threats, international researchers said on Tuesday.

They said weather extremes can create conditions in which several fairly harmless diseases converge at once, creating a "one-two punch" that can devastate populations of wildlife or livestock.

Many researchers have predicted that climate changes brought on by heat-trapping carbon dioxide emissions could alter traditional relationships between pathogens and their hosts, making normally benign diseases more deadly.
