CNN: "Unusually destructive" hurricane season

Just when you thought the whole global warming-hurricane link had been thoroughly debunked, up pops alarmism advocate CNN (Communist News Network) to prop up the fart cloud. Please read the previous post where we talked about this year's REALLY SLOW season compared to (once again) inaccurate predictions.

The point is to keep making each hurricane season seem "unusual" to tie it into the overall theory of climate change, and we know that Al Gore and his cult followers really buy into this link, which has been debunked by NOAA.

CNN, predictably, chooses to highlight certain facts and omit others (omission bias). For instance, they say that this was the fourth busiest season since 1944. My follow-up questions: How spread out were those four seasons? What about the seasons prior to 1944? Costs? Yes, hurricane damage in terms of dollars is greater today (even when adjusted for inflation) because there are more people and greater densities of people living in coastal areas.

Hurricane damage IS NOT GREATER because of manmade climate change.

Hmmm? Hello, CNN? Hmmm?

An unusually destructive hurricane season ends - CNN.com:

(CNN) -- The 2008 Atlantic hurricane season ended Sunday, marking the finish of one of the busiest and costliest hurricane seasons ever.

Sherrie Hoppal cleans out her Texas home that was flooded by Hurricane Ike in September.

The damage caused by this year's Atlantic hurricanes is estimated at $54 billion, according to the National Climatic Data Center. That's second in recorded history only to 2005, the year Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast. The total that year was an estimated $128 billion.

International court to PUNISH non-compliant states over AGW

Even though the world is rejecting this global warming nonsense (and rightly so), politicians (read lawmakers and lawyers) are going to make certain they get their required mileage out of the scam, given that there has been a significant investment of time and money in propping it up.

I hope that our new President-elect will reject this stupidity and protect our sovereignty. My guess is that he won't; he has made clear that he believes in the corrupt U.N. and international influence over our country's foreign policy (so that the world will "like us").

Lawyers call for international court for the environment - Telegraph:

A former chairman of the Bar Council is calling for an international court for the environment to punish states that fail to protect wildlife and prevent climate change.

Stephen Hockman QC is proposing a body similar to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to be the supreme legal authority on issues regarding the environment.

The first role of the new body would be to enforce international agreements on cutting greenhouse gas emissions set to be agreed next year.

But the court would also fine countries or companies that fail to protect endangered species or degrade the natural environment and enforce the “right to a healthy environment”.

The innovative idea is being presented to an audience of politicians, scientists and public figures for the first time at a symposium at the British Library.

Mr Hockman, a deputy High Court judge, said that the threat of climate change means it is more important than ever for the law to protect the environment.

Poll: Support for global climate action FALLS!

Please read my previous post about President Klaus, the Czech President and E.U. President-elect--he's a huge climate skeptic and has more or less pronounced the end of the global warming scam. The failing economy might drive the final nail in the coffin.

Previous polls show that this reluctant admission by the media is true: The world is saying "no thanks" to this hyped baloney and efforts that will require their personal suffering to "fix" something that isn't even broken.

I love how the Windsor Star makes efforts in the same piece to show snow cannons blasting snow on European ski resorts because of "how hot is has been during winter." Really??!!? Perhaps they haven't been reading the same news and empirical evidence I've been reading, which I've linked to heavily on this blog to make a point--the media is in the tank for global warming, and global warming is a bunch of crap (that they're pulling out all stops to save).

Efforts to support global climate-change falls: Poll:

PARIS - There is both growing public reluctance to make personal sacrifices and a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the major international efforts now underway to battle climate change, according to findings of a poll of 12,000 citizens in 11 countries, including Canada.

Results of the poll were released this week in advance of the start of a major international conference in Poland where delegates are considering steps toward a new international climate-change treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.

There already are reports emerging that some countries, such as coal-dependent Poland, are pushing for special treatment to avoid making major commitments to slash carbon emissions during a global economic downturn.

Less than half of those surveyed, or 47 per cent, said they were prepared to make personal lifestyle changes to reduce carbon emissions, down from 58 per cent last year.

Only 37 per cent said they were willing to spend "extra time" on the effort, an eight-point drop. And only one in five respondents - or 20 per cent - said they'd spend extra money to reduce climate change. That's down from 28 per cent a year ago.

Climate alarmism is in peril

405Px-Vaclav Klaus Headshot-1Our good friend and future EU president, Vaclav Klaus, is back in the news (being predictably eviscerated by the NYT for his disbelief in global warming bullcrap).

One great thing could come from this economic downturn: The death of climate alarmism and global warming belief in a vast majority of the world's citizens (we've already seen it happen here and in the UK).

I say, "Adios!"

Beware the church of climate alarm - Miranda Devine - Opinion - smh.com.au:

As the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, an economist, anti-totalitarian and climate change sceptic, prepares to take up the rotating presidency of the European Union next year, climate alarmists are doing their best to traduce him.

The New York Times opened a profile of Klaus, 67, this week with a quote from a 1980s communist secret agent's report, claiming he behaves like a "rejected genius", and asserts there is "palpable fear" he will "embarrass" the EU.

But the real fear driving climate alarmists wild is that a more rational approach to the fundamentalist religion of global warming may be in the ascendancy - whether in the parliamentary offices of the world's largest trading bloc or in the living rooms of Blacktown.

As the global financial crisis takes hold, perhaps people are starting to wonder whether the so-called precautionary principle, which would have us accept enormous new taxes in the guise of an emissions trading scheme and curtail economic growth, is justified, based on what we actually know about climate.

One of Australia's leading enviro-sceptics, the geologist and University of Adelaide professor Ian Plimer, 62, says he has noticed audiences becoming more receptive to his message that climate change has always occurred and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

Czech Prez: Gore "apostle of arrogance"

Let's hear it once again for a REAL European leader, not afraid to call a spade a spade and risk evisceration by the media (which he promptly receives every time he dares mention "global warming" or Al Gore, the Most Stupid). Thanks Vaclav Klaus!

A fiery Czech is poised to be the face of Europe - International Herald Tribune:

Decades later, Klaus, the 67-year-old president of the Czech Republic — an iconoclast with a perfectly clipped mustache — continues to provoke strong reactions. He has blamed what he calls the misguided fight against global warming for contributing to the international financial crisis, branded Al Gore an "apostle of arrogance" for his role in that fight, and accused the European Union of acting like a Communist state.

Weather Channel's Forecast Earth axed!

We all know that NBC is a beehive full of liberal, green bumbles. MSNBC has been coloring its logo green in recently, and NBC's Weather Channel has long been a vocal believer in manmade climate change, from Dr. Heidi Cullen's "Climate Code" to the most recent "Forecast Earth." And all this over the fervid protests of the Weather Channel's founder, John Coleman, who is a huge global warming skeptic and detractor.

Funny thing happened. Global warming went poof! Economy went poof! Alarmism must now go poof! The Weather Channel nixes "Forecast Earth" and most of its staff, possibly even Natalie Allen and Heidi Cullen too.

This is just too delicious. Looks like some folks didn't salvage their reputations quickly enough. Bring on the cold.

NBC Fires Weather Channel Environmental Unit - Capital Weather Gang:

NBC Universal made the first of potentially several rounds of staffing cuts at The Weather Channel (TWC) on Wednesday, axing the entire staff of the "Forecast Earth" environmental program during the middle of NBC's "Green Week," as well as several on-camera meteorologists. The layoffs totaled about 10 percent of the workforce, and are among the first major changes made since NBC completed its purchase of the venerable weather network in September.

***

The timing of the Forecast Earth cancellation was ironic, since it came in the middle of NBC's "Green Week," during which the network has been touting its environmental coverage across all of its platforms. Forecast Earth normally aired on weekends, but its presumed last episode was shown on a weekday due to the environmentally-oriented week.

Forecast Earth was hosted by former CNN anchor Natalie Allen, with contributions from climate expert Heidi Cullen. It was the sole program on TWC that focused on global climate change, which raises the question of whether the station will still report on the subject. Cullen's future role at the network is not known.

Obama-mobile: <10 miles per gallon!

As I thought, Obama is a green hypocrite, just like all the other prominent climate alarmists--especially that hypocrite bumbler named Al Gore.

Green Obama’s official limo is a gas guzzler - Times Online :

On the campaign trail, Barack Obama promised to get a million plug-in hybrid cars on the road by 2015. His own new presidential limousine will be far from green, however.

The Obamobile being prepared for the president-elect is said to be a monster gas-guzzler made by General Motors, the troubled car giant. It will look like a black Cadillac but is built like a tank. A spy photographer who tracks down future car models for magazines snatched pictures of the heavily disguised first-car-in-waiting when it was being road-tested last summer.

The armour-plated car, which has a raised roof, windows up to 5in thick, extra-strength tyres and a body made of steel, aluminium, titanium and ceramics, is thought to be based on a GMC 2500 truck that gets less than 10 miles to the gallon.

Cornell University: Global warming OVERESTIMATED

The truth continues trickling out. And gets ignored. For instance, take a look at Al Gore's fear blog and Obama's recent revoicing comments; they all keep pretending as if there's absolutely no reliable, contradictory evidence in existence that detracts from the theory of manmade climate change. This issue (it's not real science at all from the advocate's perspective) has become far too political and wealth-producing to simply go away based on any scientific and/or empirical reality.

Cornell Chronicle: Black carbon affects climate predictions:

A detailed analysis of black carbon -- the residue of burned organic matter -- in computer climate models suggests that those models may be overestimating global warming predictions.

***

As a result of global warming, soils are expected to release more carbon dioxide, the major greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere, which, in turn, creates more warming. Climate models try to incorporate these increases of carbon dioxide from soils as the planet warms, but results vary greatly when realistic estimates of black carbon in soils are included in the predictions, the study found.

***

By entering realistic estimates of stocks of black carbon in soil from two Australian savannas into a computer model that calculates carbon dioxide release from soil, the researchers found that carbon dioxide emissions from soils were reduced by about 20 percent over 100 years, as compared with simulations that did not take black carbon's long shelf life into account.

The findings are significant because soils are by far the world's largest source of carbon dioxide, producing 10 times more carbon dioxide each year than all the carbon dioxide emissions from human activities combined. Small changes in how carbon emissions from soils are estimated, therefore, can have a large impact.

Forecasters: It's cold now but will be warm later

Forecasters said the same thing about last year's record cold winter (i.e., it was only going to be briefly cold--ahem, WRONG!).

Review the posts here, here, and here (among others talking about last year's winter). We were also told, insanely, that the cold weather we were seeing was caused by global warming! Then La Nina and El Nino were used as excuses to explain away the record-setting cold we've seen, which runs empirically counter to the entire global warming theory. Again and again, climate predictions--from higher temperatures to increased hurricanes--have continually refused to materialize. Can you expect this prediction to be any different than the others? I PREDICT NO!

Clearly, it's uncomfortable for the believers and alarmists in the media to keep seeing these low temperatures that cast doubt on all the brainwashing in which they've engaged.

Cold start to winter will warm, forecasters say - USATODAY.com:

Weather forecasters are predicting a colder-than-normal start to winter in the eastern part of the United States.

The season overall will be warmer than normal in the Southwest, South and parts of the Midwest, according to independent forecasters.

"It's going to be an aggressive start," said Ken Reeves, director of forecasting at Accuweather.com.

"What's really going to stand out for a lot of people is the immediate slap in the face of what will be a rather cold December, especially in the eastern third of the nation," Reeves said.

***

Despite the early cold, Ed O'Lenic, a senior meteorologist and chief of the climate operations branch at the Climate Prediction Center, said he believes this winter will be warmer than the average over the past 30 years.

Anthony Barnston, director of forecasting at Columbia University's International Research Institute in New York, said a lessening of La NiƱa could result in a warmer winter.

The Lord Obama speaks...and sounds dumb

Sounding like a liberal broken record, President-elect Obama (true to form) comes out against carbon and makes several asinine proclamations. We already know that Schwarzenegger is a climate idiot; we can expect this from a muscleheaded steroid junkie. But Obama is supposed to be smarter than God, remember?

Ahem, Dear Lord Obama, the Almightly Savior of all person-kind, the science IS NOT BEYOND DISPUTE. SCIENCE IS NEVER BEYOND DISPUTE, and the "science" behind global warming is total BS. Furthermore, that Al Gore hat-trick about hurricanes is old and has been thoroughly debunked, including by NOAA, but you nitnoids keep leaning on that as empirical proof, even though the hurricane seasons have only been weak since 2005.

How about the empirical evidence sited on this blog? Alarmists ignore the evidence that points towards normal climate variation and only embrace bits and pieces that back up their stupid theory.

We are in big trouble. Dumb people have elected a scientifically dumb man to do dumb things to our dumb asses.

Obama addresses global warming summit - 2008 Presidential Campaign Blog - Political Intelligence - Boston.com:

Through the magic of video, President-elect Barack Obama will encourage governors and others today to tackle global warming -- an issue he highlighted during the campaign.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California is hosting a two-day summit, drawing several fellow governors plus more than 600 environmental officials and activists from around the world.

Obama is pledging to make America more energy independent and to also slash carbon emissions by focusing on alternative sources such as wind and solar. He is also vowing to work more cooperatively with other nations on climate change.

"Few challenges facing America -- and the world – are more urgent than combating climate change," he says in the video. "The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising. Coastlines are shrinking. We’ve seen record drought, spreading famine, and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season. Climate change and our dependence on foreign oil, if left unaddressed, will continue to weaken our economy and threaten our national security.

Dr. Hansen publishes bogus "hottest ever" October temperatures

Mostly speaks for itself. Read all about Hansen and Gore's collective stupidity throughout this blog. Read all about the empirical evidence pointing out how darn cold it is right now on Our Good Mother, the Earth.

Turn off AGW advocates like CNN, MSNBC, and other stupid lefty bullcrap and read here and elsewhere on the Internet to find out what you're not being shown or told.

The world has never seen such freezing heat - Telegraph:

A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore's chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record.

This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years.

So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerised temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.

The error was so glaring that when it was reported on the two blogs - run by the US meteorologist Anthony Watts and Steve McIntyre, the Canadian computer analyst who won fame for his expert debunking of the notorious "hockey stick" graph - GISS began hastily revising its figures. This only made the confusion worse because, to compensate for the lowered temperatures in Russia, GISS claimed to have discovered a new "hotspot" in the Arctic - in a month when satellite images were showing Arctic sea-ice recovering so fast from its summer melt that three weeks ago it was 30 per cent more extensive than at the same time last year.

SD already with 4 feet of snow

Here you go. Happy Global Warming, dolt alarmists! Winter yet? Nope. More mounting evidence can be perused here.

South Dakota Hit With 4 Feet of Snow:

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A wintry blast of punishing wind and close to 4 feet of snow in places pummeled the Northern Plains on Thursday, stranding unknown numbers of motorists for a day or more and knocking out power to thousands. State officials said some people could be without power for days, but they had a simple message for anyone thinking of trying to drive in western South Dakota's blizzard: Don't. "This is a dangerous storm," Gov. Mike Rounds told reporters in a telephone conference call Thursday evening. "Western South Dakota is basically under a no-travel advisory."

Gore: Imminent, rapidly growing threat "rescue" needed?

M F283C09F0E6Ff68D4E85E179729E0C42Here's where we find out if we truly are a nation of idiots. Most Americans don't believe global warming is a threat (and Britons definitely don't believe), but we can see that it's being shoved down our throats anyway. Gore got what he wanted (he was going to get it with Obama or McCain): A sympathetic ear and a true believer in governmental intervention.

Problem is that there is NOTHING to intervene against, except to protect Gore's pervasive environmental empire.

Meanwhile, temperatures in 2008 have been BELOW NORMAL TO WELL BELOW NORMAL.

01 10 2008 Dvtemprank Pg

Op-Ed Contributor - The Climate for Change - NYTimes.com:

THE inspiring and transformative choice by the American people to elect Barack Obama as our 44th president lays the foundation for another fateful choice that he — and we — must make this January to begin an emergency rescue of human civilization from the imminent and rapidly growing threat posed by the climate crisis.

Gore: Obama-electing youth could save Earth?

Puh-leaze! Oh Lord Messiah Obama...please save us from the nonexistent threat of manmade global warming, so that Al Gore's stupidity can be vindicated.

Young people are the most likely to be taken in by the scam, however, because they haven't lived long enough to smell a scam artist when they see one.

Right now, only the dufuses of the world still believe in this global warming nonsense.

Is Al Gore making a move now to eventually proclaim that the Internet he "invented" is now going to save Earth? LOL!

Internet revolution that elected Obama could save Earth: Gore:

Former US vice president Al Gore said an Internet revolution carrying Barack Obama to the White House should now focus its power on stopping Earth's climate crisis.

The one-time presidential contender turned environmental champion told Web 2.0 Summit goers in San Francisco Friday that technology has provided tools to save the planet while creating jobs and stimulating the crippled economy.

"The young people who have been inspired by Barack Obama's campaign and the movement that powered Barack Obama's campaign want a purpose," Gore said.

"One of the reasons we were all thrilled Tuesday night is it was pretty obvious this was a collectively intelligent decision."

The Internet's critical role in Democrat Obama's victory in the presidential race against Republican John McCain was a "great blow for victory" in addressing a "democracy crisis" stifling action against climate change, Gore said.

Voters mostly say NO to environmental ballot measures

Will the alarmist psychos awaken from their stupor finally? Probably not. When you’re a Kool-aid drinking fanatic, it’s fairly tough to change your ways, regardless of how much evidence stacks up against you and your silly theory.

Let’s hope our new President-Elect will not follow-through on his promises to bankrupt the coal industry; he certainly would harm a lot of families if he did that, wouldn’t he? All to stop a non-existent problem with the element Carbon.

Not So Green: Voters Nix Most Environmental State Ballot Measures:

Voters didn’t just decide on the president or Congress yesterday. Among five major energy and environmental ballot initiatives from California to Missouri, all but one were voted down. Does that mean that apparent public support for clean energy withers away when the rubber meets the road?

Not necessarily. But it does suggest that any government plans to boost clean energy have to be sharply focused, realistic, and present a clear win for voters, who are also consumers. Grist has a great rundown on state-level initiatives, here.

Atlantic Hurricane Season "Withers on the Vine"

Back in April 2008, Dr. Gray (a well-known global warming SKEPTIC), issued his famous hurricane season forecast; we were supposed to have a season "well above average." At the beginning of August 2008, the forecasters decided to "revise" their predictions to reflect an even more active season. I proposed back in April waiting to see how accurate these predictions would end up and whether they would be like a lot the global warming predictions that have come and gone so far AND BEEN WRONG!

So what happened? Not very much. The season did spike up a little higher than last year, but it was no where near the 2005 season. Once again, global warming failed to cause the cyclonic disaster typically predicted by global warming alarmists like Al Gore, even though NOAA has already discredited that theory.

Atlantic Hurricane Season 2008 Withers on the Vine « Climate Audit:

Now, to answer the question: how active was the 2008 hurricane season, we need to define climatology. This is where the tricksters can play pranks on the public. Where is the beginning point of the analysis? How well do we trust the frequency and the estimated intensities of each storm? What metric do we use – number of tropical storms, number of hurricanes, ACE (accumulated cyclone energy), Power Dissipation, or perhaps some complicated statistical measure? All of these questions are entangled in the debate surrounding whether anthropogenic climate change is indeed a modulating influence upon current and future Atlantic hurricane activity.

***

Final verdict: When encapsulated in the recent active period in North Atlantic activity (1995-2007), 2008 experienced normal or expected activity as measured by ACE.

UK scientist shunned by BBC after denying "climate change"

Well, how many of examples of this have we seen? Silencing the opposition--the scientific opposition. Demand debate! And the BBC may be marching in-step with the global warming fanatics and alarmist scientists, but the British people are NOT!

Please see Dr. Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit to help deprogram yourself, you goof-wad global warming believer.

Daily Express | Express Yourself :: BBC shunned me for denying climate change:

FOR YEARS David Bellamy was one of the best known faces on TV.

A respected botanist and the author of 35 books, he had presented around 400 programmes over the years and was appreciated by audiences for his boundless enthusiasm.

Yet for more than 10 years he has been out of the limelight, shunned by bosses at the BBC where he made his name, as well as fellow scientists and environmentalists.

His crime? Bellamy says he doesn’t believe in man-made global warming.

Here he reveals why – and the price he has paid for not toeing the orthodox line on climate change.

***

I am a scientist and I have to follow the directions of science but when I see that the truth is being covered up I have to voice my opinions.

According to official data, in every year since 1998 world temperatures have been getting colder, and in 2002 Arctic ice actually increased. Why, then, do we not hear about that?

The sad fact is that since I said I didn’t believe human beings caused global warming I’ve not been allowed to make a TV programme.
