Empirical 'bad news' for alarmists

Now these are some interesting tidbits to behold! Coldest since 1994, it says.

This is about as bad as it gets folks. I don't think I've seen anything like it since 1994. Sure its been very cold at times over the past 14 years, but the total area impacted by this cold wave will be huge. By next Thursday and Friday, extremely cold air will chill the entire area from the Great Plains to the Eastern Seaboard, and the cold is also going to reach the Deep South. Only the far West will be unscathed.

But wait! I thought all the ski resorts were struggling to stay alive because there was no snow and it was SO warm! Now they have too much snow?!?

Resorts throughout the western United States and Canada are struggling with avalanche hazards as weather patterns have created uncommonly widespread conditions of instability, wreaking havoc on mountains crowded with skiers of all levels at the start of ski season.

Meanwhile, in Europe:

A rare, heavy snowfall in central Spain closed Madrid's airport and paralysed city traffic while several rivers in Germany were frozen as much of Europe endured Siberian conditions Friday.
Russian gas cuts to several European countries this week have aggravated the the effects of the bitter cold which has embraced much of the continent since the end of December.

But not everyone was unhappy about the cold snap, with the Dutch taking the opportunity to rediscover the pleasures of skating along iced-over canals and lakes.

And in Alaska, 60 below zero:

JUNEAU, Alaska – Ted Johnson planned on using a set of logs to a build a cabin in Alaska's interior. Instead he'll burn some of them to stay warm.
Extreme temperatures — in Johnson's case about 60 below zero — call for extreme measures in a statewide cold snap so frigid that temperatures have grounded planes, disabled cars, frozen water pipes and even canceled several championship cross country ski races.
Alaskans are accustomed to subzero temperatures but the prolonged conditions have folks wondering what's going on with winter less than a month old.

Editorial: Manmade global warming disproved in 2008

Of course, I've been pointing out these ridiculous inconsistencies since last year, but it's interesting to see that more and more thinking people are coming around to the truth--AGW is a myth, a lie.

The first, on May 21, headed "Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts" , reported that the entire Alpine "winter sports industry" could soon "grind to a halt for lack of snow". The second, on December 19, headed "The Alps have best snow conditions in a generation" , reported that this winter's Alpine snowfalls "look set to beat all records by New Year's Day".

Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.

First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare. Last winter, as temperatures plummeted, many parts of the world had snowfalls on a scale not seen for decades. This winter, with the whole of Canada and half the US under snow, looks likely to be even worse. After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.

Poll: Support for global climate action FALLS!

Please read my previous post about President Klaus, the Czech President and E.U. President-elect--he's a huge climate skeptic and has more or less pronounced the end of the global warming scam. The failing economy might drive the final nail in the coffin.

Previous polls show that this reluctant admission by the media is true: The world is saying "no thanks" to this hyped baloney and efforts that will require their personal suffering to "fix" something that isn't even broken.

I love how the Windsor Star makes efforts in the same piece to show snow cannons blasting snow on European ski resorts because of "how hot is has been during winter." Really??!!? Perhaps they haven't been reading the same news and empirical evidence I've been reading, which I've linked to heavily on this blog to make a point--the media is in the tank for global warming, and global warming is a bunch of crap (that they're pulling out all stops to save).

Efforts to support global climate-change falls: Poll:

PARIS - There is both growing public reluctance to make personal sacrifices and a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the major international efforts now underway to battle climate change, according to findings of a poll of 12,000 citizens in 11 countries, including Canada.

Results of the poll were released this week in advance of the start of a major international conference in Poland where delegates are considering steps toward a new international climate-change treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.

There already are reports emerging that some countries, such as coal-dependent Poland, are pushing for special treatment to avoid making major commitments to slash carbon emissions during a global economic downturn.

Less than half of those surveyed, or 47 per cent, said they were prepared to make personal lifestyle changes to reduce carbon emissions, down from 58 per cent last year.

Only 37 per cent said they were willing to spend "extra time" on the effort, an eight-point drop. And only one in five respondents - or 20 per cent - said they'd spend extra money to reduce climate change. That's down from 28 per cent a year ago.

Ski resorts open into May!

LOL! Ski resorts running into May 2008 due to the “blessings of Mother Nature.” How is this even possible? Warming causes cooling, remember? And don't forget, warming rushes spring and 2008 will be the hottest year on record (and other silly predictions that didn't come true).

Brundage Mountain extends ski season into May | KTVB.COM | Idaho News:

McCALL -- Near-record snowfall and low spring temperatures are creating ideal conditions at Brundage Mountain Resort. Resort officials announced today that they will be open for a third bonus weekend in May.

The resort is currently closed on weekdays, and had planned this Saturday and Sunday to be the final ski weekend of the season, but that was before 10 inches of fresh powder fell this week. Now, resort managers have decided to be open on May 3rd and 4th.
