Why Cap-and-Trade Will Fail

Even some very liberal Democrats in the Senate, just as in the House, are opposed to this monstrous, business-killing, anti-capitalist nonsense. Even old Senator Byrd, who admittedly represents a major coal producing state, comes down against President Obama's socialistic support of radical environmentalism.

Frankly, though it's not politically correct to admit it, most thinking people know this is a fad of the moment and is NOT REAL. It’s a power grab and a wealth grab—plain and simple. There is no global warming caused by mankind; it's ridiculous but has become this unassailable myth. Want to be ostracized by your liberal friends? Just dare say that global warming doesn't stand scientifically or in terms of commonsense. Just look at all the empirical data of the past two years that the media continually ignores. Just look at the fact that temperatures since 1998 (if you believe the baseline) have descended. Just look at the fact that Al Gore is a complete idiot.

The believer alarmists don't want their little boondoggle disturbed.

Byrd Blasts ‘Cap and Trade’

WHEELING - He is not yet back to work in the Senate chamber, but U.S. Sen. Robert Byrd is opposing "cap and trade" legislation pushed by the Obama administration.

The 91-year-old Byrd, D-W.Va., was released from an unidentified Washington, D.C. hospital last week after a month-long stay for a staph infection. He expects to return to the chamber before the Senate begins debate on "cap and trade" - which is tentatively set for this fall, according to Byrd's office.

"I cannot support the House bill in its present form," Byrd said in a statement. "I continue to believe that clean coal can be a 'green' energy. Those of us who understand coal's great potential in our quest for energy independence must continue to work diligently in shaping a climate bill that will ensure access to affordable energy for West Virginians. I remain bullish about the future of coal, and am so very proud of the miners who labor and toil in the coalfields of West Virginia."

Voters mostly say NO to environmental ballot measures

Will the alarmist psychos awaken from their stupor finally? Probably not. When you’re a Kool-aid drinking fanatic, it’s fairly tough to change your ways, regardless of how much evidence stacks up against you and your silly theory.

Let’s hope our new President-Elect will not follow-through on his promises to bankrupt the coal industry; he certainly would harm a lot of families if he did that, wouldn’t he? All to stop a non-existent problem with the element Carbon.

Not So Green: Voters Nix Most Environmental State Ballot Measures:

Voters didn’t just decide on the president or Congress yesterday. Among five major energy and environmental ballot initiatives from California to Missouri, all but one were voted down. Does that mean that apparent public support for clean energy withers away when the rubber meets the road?

Not necessarily. But it does suggest that any government plans to boost clean energy have to be sharply focused, realistic, and present a clear win for voters, who are also consumers. Grist has a great rundown on state-level initiatives, here.

I don't feel sick, do you? Harry Reid does...

Carbon-based fuel...the "CIGARETTES" of the new millennium. Pretty soon, you'll have to wear a bag over your head to drive your car (like smokers do now to take a puff).

P.S. Harry Reid is another big, liberal, elitist idiot; he has no idea what in the hell he's talking about. Will someone please break it to these dimwits that global warming is the biggest farce ever perpetrated on mankind AND THAT MORE AND MORE OF US KNOW. Geez!

Governments work to save us sheep from doom

And yet, CO2 emissions continue to rise while the mean global temperature has fallen!

Britain's 2007 emissions fall, on track for Kyoto | Environment | Reuters
:

LONDON (Reuters) - British greenhouse gas emissions fell nearly two percent in 2007, keeping the country on track to meet its targets under the Kyoto Protocol, the government's environmental agency said on Thursday.
U.N. human rights body turns to climate change | Environment | Reuters:
GENEVA (Reuters) - Climate change could erode the human rights of people living in small island states, coastal areas and parts of the world subjected to drought and floods, the U.N. Human Rights Council said on Friday.
Climate negotiators start work on Kyoto II | Environment | Reuters:
BANGKOK (Reuters) - Scientists and officials from across the world meet in Thailand this week for the first formal talks in the long process of drawing up a replacement for the Kyoto climate change pact by the end of 2009.

Around 190 nations agreed in Bali last year to start the two-year negotiations to replace Kyoto, which only binds 37 rich nations to cut emissions of greenhouse gases by an average of five percent from 1990 levels by 2012.

Here's a reason why our "actions" to save us will fail; we will have to disavow capitalism to make all the psychos happy. It's the only way.

California cuts future quotas for clean-air cars | Environment | Reuters
:
Advocates of clean car technologies called the move a step backward for California's push to cut car pollution, and accused the board of kowtowing to automakers.
Government officials to discuss CO2 content of alt fuels | Environment | Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Officials from across the U.S. government will meet this week to interpret an obscure item tucked into 2007 energy legislation that bars big federal fuel buyers from using fuel derived from coal if it contains more carbon than products made from crude oil.
Wait, I thought dark colors absorbed light, which theoretically would warm up the earth more? Chlorophyll has a dark green color, so losing trees should theoretically cool the earth. Oh that's right...alarmists claim the sun has nothing to do with global warming. They're obviously taking the position that losing the trees raises CO2 levels...except that CO2 has NOTHING TO DO WITH WARMING! It comes AFTER WARMING...NOT BEFORE.
Asia must reverse deforestation: U.N. | Environment | Reuters:
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Parts of Asia are losing more than 28,000 square kilometers (10,800 square miles) of forest every year, a trend that must to be reversed immediately to fight climate change, a United Nations report said on Thursday.
As I already mentioned, even if we BELIEVE (as in have ‘blind faith’ in the ‘consensus’ as we’ve been instructed to do by the media), there’s no workable solution to reverse the nonexistent warming that they’ve imagined. Kyoto won’t work—far too expensive for the estimated net CO2 reductions. Mercury-tainted light bulbs won’t work; they poison the planet worse than the perceived “pollution” of greenhouse gases (please note that we would all be frozen popsicles without greenhouse gases in our atmosphere to hold in the sun’s heat). Some climate alarmists even believe that we’ll all be dead in a few decades, regardless of what we do to fix the problem.

Regardless of whether biofuels increase or reduce greenhouse gases, here’s one certain thing that we can already see—they’re driving up the price of corn, which is a staple food for the poorest people in the world. We also use corn to feed livestock, which is another food staple—providing beef, cheese, and milk. Food is already under several price pressures; surely we shouldn’t help prices creep up further, due to our religious-like zealotry with this climate change baloney.

So you fruitcakes are just hurting the people that you always claim to champion. This time, you’re hurting them under the guise of saving the planet; the only problem is that the planet doesn’t need your help, you arrogant bunch of know-it-all kool-aid drinkers!

Top scientists warn against rush to biofuel | Environment | The Guardian:
Gordon Brown is preparing for a battle with the European Union over biofuels after one of the government's leading scientists warned they could exacerbate climate change rather than combat it.
In an outspoken attack on a policy which comes into force next week, Professor Bob Watson, the chief scientific adviser at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, said it would be wrong to introduce compulsory quotas for the use of biofuels in petrol and diesel before their effects had been properly assessed.

Recent notable headlines

AFP: First snow for 100 years falls on Baghdad:

BAGHDAD (AFP) — Light snow fell in Baghdad early on Friday in what weather officials said was the first time in about a 100 years.

Rare snowfalls were also recorded in the west and centre of Iraq, plunging temperatures to zero degrees Centigrade (32 degrees Fahrenheit) and even colder, an official said.

The snow in Baghdad, which melted as it hit the ground, began falling before dawn and continued until after 9 am, residents said.

And as Newsbusters' writer Noel Sheppard correctly reports, the mainstream US media is ignoring these harsh winter stories; they just don't fit the global warming template.

RIA Novosti - World - Saudi Arabia covered with snow in coldest winter for 20 years:

ABU DHABI, January 11 (RIA Novosti) - Northern parts of Saudi Arabia are covered with snow with schools, mosques and administrative bodies paralyzed, local media reported Friday.

The oil-rich kingdom is being hit with subzero temperatures and snow storms with freezing winds of up to 50 km/h (30mp/h). Some regions have been experiencing problems with water supplies as pipes have frozen, and livestock has died from the cold.

The Saudi Gazette reported late in December that the winter was expected to last 89 days, with temperatures reaching below zero. National media said the winter is the coldest in the country for 20 years.

Meanwhile, the traditional western media keeps up the drumbeat that fits their template. There's a problem with the story below; they say "scientists" as if all scientists on earth agree, which is far from the case.

Baby Mammoth Could Shed Light on Warming:
Permafrost — earth that remains frozen year-round — lies under much of Siberia but scientists fear that global warming will cause it to melt and could accelerate climate change by releasing large amounts of warming carbon dioxide gases into the atmosphere.
Of course, some in the media obviously realize the jig is up; the public isn't buying into the hysteria, so they have to make some allowances. Now warming is caused by nature...and man. BTW, it's the sun, stupid; the planets have warmed too, idiots.

ABC News: Nature and Man Jointly Cook Arctic:
There's more to the recent dramatic and alarming thawing of the Arctic region than can be explained by man-made global warming alone, a new study found. Nature is pushing the Arctic to the edge, too.
And as I've said before, there is no good solution. Every solution we can devise to replace fossil fuels is unacceptable to the media and environmentalists.
100-dollar crude is good and bad news for environment:
AFP, 3 January 2008 - Surging oil prices are a mixed blessing for the environment, experts say. Clean renewable energy and recycling are getting a major boost from 100-dollar-a-barrel crude -- but so are coal, a massive contributor to global warming, and nuclear power, which remains shadowed by safety concerns.

Winter deaths and London's cursed patio heaters!

Before you liberals get excited, this article was written by the AP...not Fox News.

FOXNews.com - Snowstorm Cripples Nation's Midsection, Causes 40-Car Pileup, Leaves 4 Dead:

LUBBOCK, Texas — Yet another storm swept across the central United States, burying areas still recovering from an earlier wave of severe weather, tying up air travel and killing at least four people. A 40-car pileup on Interstate 40 in northern Texas that killed at least one person was caused by blowing snow that limited visibility and left icy patches Thursday, said Wayne Beighle, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper.

The storm has been blamed for at least three other deaths: two in Texas and one in Oklahoma.

And in other news, the fruitcakes want to stop you cold London patrons from regaling in warmth; hey your warmth is causing warmth!

Patio heaters targeted in Europe's climate fight| Environment| Reuters:

LONDON (Reuters) - The patio heaters warming drinkers and diners on the pavements of northern Europe are also warming the planet's climate and should be banned, according to a European Parliament report that could be adopted on Thursday.

Chinese snow storm "worst in 50 years"

ChinaMore proof of climate change (as they'll claim):

Chinese snow storms strand 200,000 at station in new year exodus - Times Online :

The worst weather in 50 years pummelled swaths of central, southern and eastern China as migrant workers and students, business travellers and officials assigned to provincial postings battled for tickets to join their families for the lunar new year holiday.
Make that the worst freezing cold weather with extra snow thrown on top in 50 years!

FT.com / Asia-Pacific / China - Snow storm brings China to a halt :

The power crisis, the worst in China for many years, has been caused by an acute shortage of the supply of coal, the country’s staple fuel. Brownouts have affected about half of China’s 31 provinces and regions.
Here's what's interesting. If the warm-a-holics have their way, you freezing folks in China won't have any coal to burn to stay warm...that might boost the atmospheric carbon too much and warm you. Huh?
