Unbelievable! NYTs: 'Green' Energy Increasing Fuel Prices, Hunger

Hard to believe, but the liberal NYTs is actually (FINALLY) saying the truth: the stupid, fruitless "green fad" is killing our country and the world FOR ZERO BENEFIT. It's WAY past time for the global warming myth to die.

But with food prices rising sharply in recent months, many experts are calling on countries to scale back their headlong rush into green fuel development, arguing that the combination of ambitious biofuel targets and mediocre harvests of some crucial crops is contributing to high prices, hunger and political instability.

Gore: EtOH 'Not Good Policy'

Really Al? If you had asked us back about 3 years ago when you started in on this biofuels business, we could have told you what a moron you were being (kind of like the moron you're being on everything related to this science-warping, global-warming bullshit). How about going a step further? Why not admit that this entire thing is one giant, government-backed boondoggle (because it is). Climate fear is nothing but a means to seize greater power and resources for the government, which means that capitalism must take it on the chin for socialism to prevail.

Of course (like a lot of liberal policies), biofuels had a different effect than intended. It raised the price of food (making the poor more at risk in the world) and raised the price of fuel (making the economy worse...something a lot of liberals wanted anyway). And since global warming isn't real, it didn't do a damn thing to the climate.

ATHENS, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Former U.S. vice-president Al Gore said support for corn-based ethanol in the United States was "not a good policy", weeks before tax credits are up for renewal.

U.S. blending tax breaks for ethanol make it profitable for refiners to use the fuel even when it is more expensive than gasoline. The credits are up for renewal on Dec. 31.

Total U.S. ethanol subsidies reached $7.7 billion last year according to the International Energy Industry, which said biofuels worldwide received more subsidies than any other form of renewable energy.

"It is not a good policy to have these massive subsidies for (U.S.) first generation ethanol," said Gore, speaking at a green energy business conference in Athens sponsored by Marfin Popular Bank.

EPA Continues Gore's Plan: Drive Climate Famine

Does the EPA consist of a mere bunch of alarmist enviro-nazis? The answer is a big YES. Review sham-articles here and here.

Here we see that these alarmists at the EPA will stop at nothing to prop up the mass of stupidity that is the farcical “human-induced climate change” scam. Just like Al Gore, they’re willing to make the poor of the world go hungry to protect their little lie.

EPA Denies Texas' Request for Ethanol Waiver:

LUBBUCK, Texas — The Environmental Protection Agency has denied a request from Texas to temporarily reduce ethanol requirements for gasoline in hopes of bringing down corn prices.

Gov. Rick Perry called the decision "a mistake" and "bad public policy."

EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson spoke to Perry about his waiver request by phone Thursday, shortly before Johnson was to announce the agency's decision publicly, said the governor's spokeswoman, Allison Castle.

A federal energy bill passed in December requires that 9 billion gallons of ethanol be blended into gasoline from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2009. Perry asked the EPA in April to drop the Renewable Fuels Standard requirement to 4.5 billion gallons, saying demand for ethanol is raising corn prices for livestock producers and driving up food prices.

"I am greatly disappointed with the EPA's inability to look past the good intentions of this policy to see the significant harm it is doing to farmers, ranchers and American households," Perry said. "For the EPA to assert that this federal mandate is not affecting food prices not only goes against common sense, but every American's grocery bill.”

Criticism inherent in advancement of science

Okay, so what does the linked article have to do with global warming? It describes the very nature of science and research, which the anthropogenic global warming “consensus” attempts to circumvent by establishing politically correct lines of thought that are impervious to criticism or debate. “The time for debate is over,” bellows Al Gore and his brainwashed cult discipleship.

SCIENCE IS DEBATE AT IT’S VERY CORE. Science lives or dies through debate and criticism, unless you’re an alarmist scientist or politician. Then contrary voices had better shut up.

Here we see a scientist in a line of research unconnected to climatology (unless danger associated with tilapia consumption is caused by global warming too, and I’m sure they’ll claim that soon enough). This medical scientist is describing exactly what I’ve tried to convey in this blog for months—SCIENCE IS DEBATE AT IT’S VERY CORE. Science lives or dies through debate and criticism, unless you’re an alarmist scientist or politician. Then contrary voices had better shut up.

He also lets slip another interesting anecdote. When the potential to make or lose money is involved, the voices who stand to potentially lose money can become deafening in their shrill protests. The AGW parallel here involves all the business concerns related to “climate change.” Global warming is now a huge industry, from carbon credits to biofuels to hybrid cars to alternative energy to light bulbs to federally-funded climate research. There’s a lot of money to be made, so long as global warming remains “real” and unquestioned in the minds of the public (i.e., so long as they can keep most sheep believing).

Now you can see one more reason why global warming—as stupid as it is in terms of actual science—is refusing to die like it should after being completely debunked.

Wake Forest researcher triggers storm over study on tilapia fish

The study appeared in this month's issue of Journal of the American Dietetic Association, which also featured a report that offered a mixed review of the Wake findings. Chilton will have the opportunity to respond to the critical report in a coming issue of the journal.

Dr. William Applegate, the dean of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, said that criticism, including from colleagues, is an inherent, and sometimes helpful, part of the advancement of science.

"The higher the financial stake involved in a study, the greater the level of industry criticism tends to be generated," Applegate said.

Gore backed biofuels solution that starves people

Told you...our climate change solutions will do far more harm (see here for the stupid mercury-tainted light bulbs) than the supposed manmade climate change, which isn't even occurring by the way.

Go ahead world citizens...let Al Gore lead you over a cliff; I'm not going with him.

Food Crisis Starts Eclipsing Climate Change Worries | The New York Sun:

In an interview last year, Mr. Gore expressed his support for corn-based ethanol, but endorsed moving to what he called a “third generation” of so-called cellulosic ethanol production, which is still in laboratory research. “It doesn’t compete with food crops, so it doesn’t put pressure on food prices,” the former vice president told Popular Mechanics magazine.

Biofuels = expensive food for poor

What'd I tell you? Our biofuel solutions are worthless, as are our other solutions. These goons will only create more problems to solve a nonexistent problem!

Biofuels under attack as world food prices soar:

PARIS (AFP) - Hailed until only months ago as a silver bullet in the fight against global warming, biofuels are now accused of snatching food out of the mouths of the poor.

Governments work to save us sheep from doom

And yet, CO2 emissions continue to rise while the mean global temperature has fallen!

Britain's 2007 emissions fall, on track for Kyoto | Environment | Reuters
:

LONDON (Reuters) - British greenhouse gas emissions fell nearly two percent in 2007, keeping the country on track to meet its targets under the Kyoto Protocol, the government's environmental agency said on Thursday.
U.N. human rights body turns to climate change | Environment | Reuters:
GENEVA (Reuters) - Climate change could erode the human rights of people living in small island states, coastal areas and parts of the world subjected to drought and floods, the U.N. Human Rights Council said on Friday.
Climate negotiators start work on Kyoto II | Environment | Reuters:
BANGKOK (Reuters) - Scientists and officials from across the world meet in Thailand this week for the first formal talks in the long process of drawing up a replacement for the Kyoto climate change pact by the end of 2009.

Around 190 nations agreed in Bali last year to start the two-year negotiations to replace Kyoto, which only binds 37 rich nations to cut emissions of greenhouse gases by an average of five percent from 1990 levels by 2012.

Here's a reason why our "actions" to save us will fail; we will have to disavow capitalism to make all the psychos happy. It's the only way.

California cuts future quotas for clean-air cars | Environment | Reuters
:
Advocates of clean car technologies called the move a step backward for California's push to cut car pollution, and accused the board of kowtowing to automakers.
Government officials to discuss CO2 content of alt fuels | Environment | Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Officials from across the U.S. government will meet this week to interpret an obscure item tucked into 2007 energy legislation that bars big federal fuel buyers from using fuel derived from coal if it contains more carbon than products made from crude oil.
Wait, I thought dark colors absorbed light, which theoretically would warm up the earth more? Chlorophyll has a dark green color, so losing trees should theoretically cool the earth. Oh that's right...alarmists claim the sun has nothing to do with global warming. They're obviously taking the position that losing the trees raises CO2 levels...except that CO2 has NOTHING TO DO WITH WARMING! It comes AFTER WARMING...NOT BEFORE.
Asia must reverse deforestation: U.N. | Environment | Reuters:
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Parts of Asia are losing more than 28,000 square kilometers (10,800 square miles) of forest every year, a trend that must to be reversed immediately to fight climate change, a United Nations report said on Thursday.
As I already mentioned, even if we BELIEVE (as in have ‘blind faith’ in the ‘consensus’ as we’ve been instructed to do by the media), there’s no workable solution to reverse the nonexistent warming that they’ve imagined. Kyoto won’t work—far too expensive for the estimated net CO2 reductions. Mercury-tainted light bulbs won’t work; they poison the planet worse than the perceived “pollution” of greenhouse gases (please note that we would all be frozen popsicles without greenhouse gases in our atmosphere to hold in the sun’s heat). Some climate alarmists even believe that we’ll all be dead in a few decades, regardless of what we do to fix the problem.

Regardless of whether biofuels increase or reduce greenhouse gases, here’s one certain thing that we can already see—they’re driving up the price of corn, which is a staple food for the poorest people in the world. We also use corn to feed livestock, which is another food staple—providing beef, cheese, and milk. Food is already under several price pressures; surely we shouldn’t help prices creep up further, due to our religious-like zealotry with this climate change baloney.

So you fruitcakes are just hurting the people that you always claim to champion. This time, you’re hurting them under the guise of saving the planet; the only problem is that the planet doesn’t need your help, you arrogant bunch of know-it-all kool-aid drinkers!

Top scientists warn against rush to biofuel | Environment | The Guardian:
Gordon Brown is preparing for a battle with the European Union over biofuels after one of the government's leading scientists warned they could exacerbate climate change rather than combat it.
In an outspoken attack on a policy which comes into force next week, Professor Bob Watson, the chief scientific adviser at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, said it would be wrong to introduce compulsory quotas for the use of biofuels in petrol and diesel before their effects had been properly assessed.

U.N. chief links gas, food prices with AGW

Here we are in a record-setting winter, and the kooks are still playing games with our fears. Predictable advocate Ban Ki-moon believes that global warming is causing all the trouble; I agree...stupid ecofuel production is driving up the cost of food, because of a senseless belief in the biggest scam ever perpetrated on man.

If we could just admit that this IS a scam, maybe we could bring down some of those prices.

Newsvine - Food, Energy Costs Risk UN Poverty Goals:

Pricey food, high oil costs and grim projections of damage from global warming are the biggest challenges to meeting the United Nations' 2015 deadline for reducing poverty around the globe, officials said Monday.
World Bank President Robert Zoellick told The Associated Press that during the meeting he emphasized the need to cut carbon emissions blamed for warming the planet and to look at rising energy and food prices that make it harder to lift people out of poverty.
More can be seen below. We can already see how steps we're taking with light bulbs and ethanol will have devastating effects on the environment...much worse than any imagined AGW.
AFP: US corn biofuels will expand Gulf of Mexico 'dead zone': scientists:
VANCOUVER, Canada (AFP) — A planned increase in US ethanol production from corn would spell environmental "disaster" for marine species in the Gulf of Mexico, said a co-author of a science study published Monday.

Get your Enviro-Nuts: no waiting

Richard-Branson

There are a plenty of nuts in North America and Europe; Sir Richard Branson didn't need to go all the way to the Amazon to get some. This is especially funny coming from a dude who runs a major polluting airline and is planning to blast people off into space for a few minutes at a time, all for the cost of a small fortune.

If he really wants to impress me, he should fill the entire jet with coconut oil and see if it will fly. Guess what? Nut oils alone are not going to fly the current crop of jetliners without some sort of fossil fuel mixed in! If we could fly using cooking oils, we would already be doing it.

Here's an example of a wealthy businessman getting some free, positive publicity for his company from a gullible, propagating press.

Feed Article | Business |:

Nuts picked from Amazon rainforests helped fuel the world's first commercial airline flight powered by renewable energy on Sunday.

A Virgin Atlantic jumbo jet flew from London to Amsterdam with one of its fuel tanks filled with a bio-jet blend including babassu oil and coconut oil.

"Today marks a vital breakthrough for the whole airline industry," Virgin founder Richard Branson told reporters in a hangar at Heathrow airport prior to the flight's departure.

British billionaire Branson said, however, it was unlikely the nut of the wild growing babassu palm would play a key role as airlines turn to renewable fuel sources to cut the industry's greenhouse gas emissions.

"We did not want to use biofuels such as corn oil which were competing with staple food sources," he said, adding he believed algae produced in places like sewage treatment farms were the most likely future source of renewable fuel for the airline industry.

Biofuels, which are currently mainly produced from crops such as grain, vegetable oils and sugar, are seen by advocates as a way to cut emissions of greenhouse gases and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Ethanol increasing, not helping, warming?

LOL! You've got to love it. Here's the scoop...there's no solution folks. We can't turn to nuclear power, ethanol, more oil, wind power, etc. to drive our economic energy needs. All of those are either worse than the oft vilified carbon gases or not efficient enough. The only solution to this nonexistent warming is for you to elect socialists who will save us from ourselves and our greedy capitalist ways.

MyPlainview.com - Plainview Daily Herald:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The widespread use of ethanol from corn could result in nearly twice the greenhouse gas emissions as the gasoline it would replace because of expected land-use changes, researchers concluded Thursday. The study challenges the rush to biofuels as a response to global warming.
P.S. Before you decide you hate carbon so much, please remember that, apart from water, it's an abundant, necessary ingredient inside your body. It's a necessary commodity for our atmosphere (to supply plants with nourishment and to keep our asses from freezing to death).

Also, remember that the bigger greenhouse gases (those that are far more abundant in our atmosphere) are water vapor and methane. No one ever talks about these gases, but if you believe that greenhouse gases heat up the earth to the point of killing us all, then you need to point a finger at those which are present in far greater quantities than the CO2 we're giving off because of modern life.
