Governments work to save us sheep from doom

And yet, CO2 emissions continue to rise while the mean global temperature has fallen!

Britain's 2007 emissions fall, on track for Kyoto | Environment | Reuters
:

LONDON (Reuters) - British greenhouse gas emissions fell nearly two percent in 2007, keeping the country on track to meet its targets under the Kyoto Protocol, the government's environmental agency said on Thursday.
U.N. human rights body turns to climate change | Environment | Reuters:
GENEVA (Reuters) - Climate change could erode the human rights of people living in small island states, coastal areas and parts of the world subjected to drought and floods, the U.N. Human Rights Council said on Friday.
Climate negotiators start work on Kyoto II | Environment | Reuters:
BANGKOK (Reuters) - Scientists and officials from across the world meet in Thailand this week for the first formal talks in the long process of drawing up a replacement for the Kyoto climate change pact by the end of 2009.

Around 190 nations agreed in Bali last year to start the two-year negotiations to replace Kyoto, which only binds 37 rich nations to cut emissions of greenhouse gases by an average of five percent from 1990 levels by 2012.

Here's a reason why our "actions" to save us will fail; we will have to disavow capitalism to make all the psychos happy. It's the only way.

California cuts future quotas for clean-air cars | Environment | Reuters
:
Advocates of clean car technologies called the move a step backward for California's push to cut car pollution, and accused the board of kowtowing to automakers.
Government officials to discuss CO2 content of alt fuels | Environment | Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Officials from across the U.S. government will meet this week to interpret an obscure item tucked into 2007 energy legislation that bars big federal fuel buyers from using fuel derived from coal if it contains more carbon than products made from crude oil.
Wait, I thought dark colors absorbed light, which theoretically would warm up the earth more? Chlorophyll has a dark green color, so losing trees should theoretically cool the earth. Oh that's right...alarmists claim the sun has nothing to do with global warming. They're obviously taking the position that losing the trees raises CO2 levels...except that CO2 has NOTHING TO DO WITH WARMING! It comes AFTER WARMING...NOT BEFORE.
Asia must reverse deforestation: U.N. | Environment | Reuters:
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Parts of Asia are losing more than 28,000 square kilometers (10,800 square miles) of forest every year, a trend that must to be reversed immediately to fight climate change, a United Nations report said on Thursday.
As I already mentioned, even if we BELIEVE (as in have ‘blind faith’ in the ‘consensus’ as we’ve been instructed to do by the media), there’s no workable solution to reverse the nonexistent warming that they’ve imagined. Kyoto won’t work—far too expensive for the estimated net CO2 reductions. Mercury-tainted light bulbs won’t work; they poison the planet worse than the perceived “pollution” of greenhouse gases (please note that we would all be frozen popsicles without greenhouse gases in our atmosphere to hold in the sun’s heat). Some climate alarmists even believe that we’ll all be dead in a few decades, regardless of what we do to fix the problem.

Regardless of whether biofuels increase or reduce greenhouse gases, here’s one certain thing that we can already see—they’re driving up the price of corn, which is a staple food for the poorest people in the world. We also use corn to feed livestock, which is another food staple—providing beef, cheese, and milk. Food is already under several price pressures; surely we shouldn’t help prices creep up further, due to our religious-like zealotry with this climate change baloney.

So you fruitcakes are just hurting the people that you always claim to champion. This time, you’re hurting them under the guise of saving the planet; the only problem is that the planet doesn’t need your help, you arrogant bunch of know-it-all kool-aid drinkers!

Top scientists warn against rush to biofuel | Environment | The Guardian:
Gordon Brown is preparing for a battle with the European Union over biofuels after one of the government's leading scientists warned they could exacerbate climate change rather than combat it.
In an outspoken attack on a policy which comes into force next week, Professor Bob Watson, the chief scientific adviser at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, said it would be wrong to introduce compulsory quotas for the use of biofuels in petrol and diesel before their effects had been properly assessed.

G20: fight over climate change fight

Can't we stop these idiots (and ourselves) before we screw up the world for nothing?

News | Africa - Reuters.com:

MAKUHARI, Japan, March 16 (Reuters) - A grouping of the world's top greenhouse gas emitters on Sunday backed U.N.-led efforts to forge a global pact to fight climate change but disagreed on a sectoral approach to curb emissions from industry.

G20 nations ranging from top carbon emitters the United States and China to big developing economies Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa held three days of talks near Tokyo to discuss ways to tackle rapidly rising emissions.

And why might they be clamoring to do something? This recent article seemed to imply that it might drive current and future armed conflicts.

Climate change a new factor in global tensions: EU:
The risks of climate change have turned from a threat to reality impacting the conflict in Darfur, migration from flood-prone Bangladesh and hopes for stability in the Middle East, according to a new EU report.

From Africa to Asia, and from pole to pole, climate change has become "a threat multiplier which exacerbates existing trends, tensions and instability," warns the seven-page report on "Climate change and international security", to be presented to a European summit in Brussels on March 13-14.

Among the listed threats are "reduction of arable land, widespread shortage of water, diminishing food and fish stocks, increased flooding and prolonged droughts."

These problems, according to the report drawn up by the offices of EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner, "are already happening in many parts of the world".

Even a temperature rise of two degrees Celsius by 2050 "will pose serious security risks".

Winter continues unabated, even with "warming"

The poles may be melting into oblivion, but apparently locales nearer to the equator aren't so lucky. It's cold enough to kill and strand people all over the world.

My Way News - Storm Makes Drivers Slip, Fliers Wait:

Winter storms at both ends of the country dumped snow and snarled air and land travel Friday, killing at least 10 people, blocking major highways and even stranding 400 train passengers in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

Nearly 7 1/2 inches of snow was reported at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport before the front moved out of the area Friday. About 500 flights were canceled at O'Hare, which canceled 600 flights Thursday and housed hundreds of stranded travelers who spent the night awaiting planes from other cities also affected by the storm.

At least 12 inches of snow was reported in Springfield by Friday morning, said National Weather Service meteorologist Gino Izzi. Other parts of Illinois saw similar amounts.

"If you don't have to be out here, don't," Ty Wilson, a very wet Chicago bicycle messenger, said as he stopped along a slushy street between morning deliveries.

USATODAY.com - Rare Tokyo snow strands 10,000 at Narita airport:
A rare snowfall in Tokyo left nearly 10,000 passengers stranded overnight at Narita airport after about 50 international flights were cancelled, the airport authority said Sunday.
