Hurricane Irene and Computer Modeling

We all know how 'really smart' consensus scientists are telling us that we're at doom's door with respect to climate change; they use really sophisticated computer models to predict that in 18 months to 7 years to 8 years to 1000 years (all depends on the alarmist idiot to whom you listen), we're all going to be swimming in melted ice water, because we keep burning fossil fuels--the byproduct of which heats up the planet (they say).

Now consider something more manageable--a single storm, with FAR FEWER variables than an entire climate system. Computer models can't even get a single storm right. And hurricane season predictions have been even less accurate. So, are you going to believe stupid models, because models are only as good as the people who create them. The entire climate of the planet is FAR MORE COMPLEX than a single hurricane. And if someone has an agenda to support their theory, it's very easy to design the model to do whatever you want it to.

Instead of admitting that they screwed up on the intensity and overhyped the devastation and doom with respect to Hurricane Irene (which the media did in spades, by the way), the alarmists have already started blaming global warming for Irene (which was a creme puff of a storm unlike its predicted 'catastrophic intensity'). Saw that one coming from a mile away!

While forecasters have gotten better at estimating the trajectories of storms because the winds propelling them, known as steering currents, have gotten easier to predict with computer models, projecting intensity is driven by dozens of variables that make modeling more difficult, Clark said.

GASP!: Global Warming to Cause 'Cataclysmic Super Storm'

Yep...another disaster prediction issued by warming alarmists. Throw it on the pile. Except this one gives no specific date or date range; it's just that we're 'overdue,' especially due to 'rising atmospheric temperatures.' (Which aren't rising, by the way...) It's all a bunch of bunk.

Here's one thing I will guarantee you: We will ALWAYS have unusual weather events, because weather is unpredictable and REAL climate change is unstoppable (and NOT caused by capitalism). This is why North Africa is now a desert (normal, cyclical climate change on the Earth). Almanacs and historical accounts have long recorded unusual, record-breaking weather and climate events. That will continue. Even if we enacted every stupid global warming solution that liberals have dreamed up, the weather and climate will still behave in an oblivious fashion. We're mere gnats on this Great Earth.

Get more fear in the GASP! series and warmlist, you kooks.

It sounds like the plot of an apocalyptic action movie, but scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey warned federal and state emergency officials that California's geological history shows such "superstorms" have happened in the past, and should be added to the long list of natural disasters to worry about in the Golden State.

The threat of a cataclysmic California storm has been dormant for the past 150 years. Geological Survey director Marcia K. McNutt told the New York Times that a 300-mile stretch of the Central Valley was inundated from 1861-62. The floods were so bad that the state capital had to be moved to San Francisco, and Governor Leland Stanford had to take a rowboat to his own inauguration, the report notes. Even larger storms happened in past centuries, over the dates 212, 440, 603, 1029, 1418, and 1605, according to geological evidence.

The risk is gathering momentum now, scientists say, due to rising temperatures in the atmosphere, which has generally made weather patterns more volatile.

GASP!: We're Done For in Y3K

Even after all the empirical and actual evidence (not to mention scandals), the elitist kooks out there--propagandizing under a veil they call "science"--refuse to acknowledge that their little demonize-CO2 escapade has failed. No one--except for liberal elitists--is falling for the BS any longer.

This blog has covered numerous dire climate predictions in just three short years, ranging from 18 months (Prince Charles) to now 1000 years. Of course, we've seen that the dingbat known as Prince Charles was proven wrong so early that he had to modify his 18-month prediction a few times; I have no idea upon what authority he feels he can make predictions and be taken seriously...but the media sure takes him seriously.

But there have been many predictions from so-called knowledgeable scientists. So, who's right? Which one of these geniuses do we believe? Are Americans really this stupid? Our history is full of idiot religious leaders prophesying the end times, which never came to pass. In my opinion, there's no difference between these religious zealots and the climate zealots. Climate change is the new religion, and it DEMANDS faith from its followers.

More GASP! series here and check out the warmlist.

Even if humans stop producing excess carbon dioxide in 2100, the lingering effects of global warming could span the next millennia. The results? By the year 3000, global warming would be more than a hot topic - the West Antarctic ice sheet could collapse, and global sea levels would rise by about 13 feet (4 meters), according to a new study.

Using a computer model, researchers looked at two scenarios - an end to humans' industrial carbon dioxide emissions by 2010 and by 2100 - stretched out to the year 3000.

Even if humans were to stop emitting excess carbon dioxide - or if they figured out a way to completely capture it - the effects of global warming would continue to accumulate. That's because previously emitted carbon dioxide lingers in the atmosphere and the oceans, unlike land, warm only gradually, according to one of the study researchers, Shawn Marshall, an associate professor of geography at the University of Calgary.

Oft-right Soothsayer: Ice Age Coming

Of course, this prediction could be as flawed as all the recent warming predictions and the 1970s ice age predictions. But this person isn't the first to utter an antithetical prediction of late, and it certainly is cold outside.

He seems to get it right about 85 per cent of the time and serious business people - notably in farming - are starting to invest in his forecasts. In the eyes of many punters, he puts the taxpayer-funded Met Office to shame. How on earth does he do it? He studies the Sun.

He looks at the flow of particles from the Sun, and how they interact with the upper atmosphere, especially air currents such as the jet stream, and he looks at how the Moon and other factors influence those streaming particles.

He takes a snapshot of what the Sun is doing at any given moment, and then he looks back at the record to see when it last did something similar. Then he checks what the weather was like on Earth at the time - and he makes a prophecy.

[From There's a mini ice age coming, says man who beats weather experts]

Climate Revisionism and the Church of Warming

When was the last time you ever thought you'd see liberal-leaning types defend a flawed theory much the way that conservative religious zealots defend their sometimes fanatical religious practices?

Global warming (including all of its many aliases--climate change, AGW, global climate disruption, etc.) has turned into a religion of the left. It has many of the hallmarks of a cult-like religion: the now discredited 'Bible of Warming'...the IPCC reports; the scandal-ridden professional prognosticators of the CRU, IPCC, and NASA (think Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, and many others ); the Climate Inquisition known as the "Consensus," which would love to destroy any professional scientist who dares to speak a contrary word; the coming 'Climate Armageddon,' featuring the end-times as a result of the world's love of capitalism; the 'Climate Anti-Christ,' which would be anyone of prominence coming out against global warming; the 'Climate Messiah,' which is none other than Al Gore (no disrespect intended to the real Christ of two millennia ago); a 'Climate Holy Spirit' in the form of the Green Fad that is currently ongoing (including forms of 'Climate Redemption' such as dumb global warming solutions); religious articles of faith and holy relics, such as ice cores, tree rings, and urban-island temperature measurements; predictions of things to come (simply moved forward in time when they don't come to pass...just like real religious zealots); the demand for unquestioning faith of its followers; and the false prophets and disbelievers...like me, for example. These are all elements of religion that global warming--as a political movement--now possesses.

Given that much of the 'evidence' and most 'predictions' have been exposed as bogus or just plain WRONG, you'd think it would shake the faith of climate alarmists. What occurs is that the believers REVISE predictions and expectations based on the exposed flaws of past predictions (think 'loss of snow and ice' and 'increased hurricanes'...which have been failed predictions). This is exactly what's done in religion today; this is what's done by those who love Nostradamus--make reality fit the template (i.e., make the square peg fit the round hole). Everything is REVISED to fit the template. I call it 'Climate Revisionism.' It's the reason that believers want to cast away the term 'global warming' for 'climate change' or 'global climate disruption.' That way, they can't be wrong. Any weather or climate phenomenon deemed 'unusual' can be used to fit the template, whether associated with winter (cold), summer (heat and cyclones), or somewhere in-between (thunderstorms and tornadoes).

This is a big problem for those who see human-caused global warming as an irreversible result of the Industrial Revolution's reliance on carbon-based fuels. Based on global warming theory — and according to official weather forecasts made earlier in the year — this winter should be warm and dry. It's anything but. Ice and snow cover vast parts of both Europe and North America, in one of the coldest Decembers in history.

A cautionary tale? You bet. Prognosticators who wrote the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, global warming report in 2007 predicted an inevitable, century-long rise in global temperatures of two degrees or more. Only higher temperatures were foreseen. Moderate or even lower temperatures, as we're experiencing now, weren't even listed as a possibility.

Since at least 1998, however, no significant warming trend has been noticeable. Unfortunately, none of the 24 models used by the IPCC views that as possible. They are at odds with reality.

We Freeze Because It's Too Warm?

Oh, I see, professor. The climate is becoming more 'dynamic' because of manmade greenhouse gases. But what about when your climatology brothers said that future snows would be a 'rare and exciting event'? You guys want it both ways; and we're all just NOT that dumb.

But before we write off our current cold snap as the British weather playing its usual tricks, we still need to explain why the Arctic high pressure has strayed so far south. And here, says Prof Maslin, is the more likely, and more subtle, link with climate change. "For me," he says, "this shows that the climate is becoming more dynamic, and thus large shifts in the wind patterns are possible – in this case, sub-tropical air being trapped further south than usual."

In other words, we need to remember that while the average temperature is rising, climate change also delivers more extreme weather, from chills to heatwaves. Today, we're stocking up on snowshoes – but best to invest in some air-conditioning as well.

Scientists: Some Sea Levels 'Could Fall'

Interesting read from someone who still espouses global warming as reality. Even they admit the doomsday predictions are WRONG.

The incorrect belief that ocean water is evenly distributed lives on in the debate over climate change, says Stammer. The rising sea level is widely viewed as the most threatening consequence of global warming. Images of Bangladeshis wading through floodwaters are a favorite horror scenario used by some environmentalists. "But people act as if the water from melting glaciers were distributed as uniformly in the oceans as the water in our bathtubs at home," says Stammer.

But the reality is counter-intuitive. According to the most recent estimates, the sea level is expected to rise by about 1 meter (3.28 feet) -- on average -- in the next 100 years. This is the number that will be mentioned again and again during negotiations at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Cancun, Mexico over the next two weeks. "But this average value doesn't really help coastal planners," says Stammer.

Global Warming (Climate Change) Now 'Global Weirding'

As I predicted long ago, the new tactic--now that climate predictions continue to FAIL--will be to call anything that happens 'global warming.' In other words, the warming climate is causing all unusual weather events. But I have news for you psychos out there; we have hundreds of years of written accounts of 'unusual' weather and climate events, dating back to the global floods of ancient times (not to mention the Medieval Warm Period...a time that alarmists don't want you to bring up).

This bullshit is such a complete and utter farce. It's a failed government power grab. Interesting that Europeans seem to be awakening from their stupor far faster than we are.

So then the mantra became “climate change.” The liberals formerly known as “warmists” began predicting that we would experience fundamental changes in our weather. Scientists at the University of East Anglia — the Harvard of climate change — said snow would be “a very rare and exciting event.” Children wouldn’t know what it was.

As for summers, in the wake of Katrina “change-ist” groups like realclimate.org predicted “global warming will make hurricanes even worse in the future.”

What happened? Nothing. Europe has had three winters in a row of snow and cold temperatures. In the Atlantic, “there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of hurricanes in the last five years,” according to meteorologist Art Horn. “The total energy in all hurricanes around the world has plunged since 1993. The opposite of what was predicted.”

So the new fall back is “global weirding.” The site thedailygreen.com has a “Weird Weather Watch” page. The uber-liberal Huffington Post ran a story in August headlined “Global Weirding”: Extreme Climate Events Dominate The Summer.”

NYT: Record Cold Caused by Warming (They're Serious)

I've been saying this for years, but try not to swallow your tongue anyway. These guys in the media (and the leftist "thinking" establishment) can't accept that they've been completely bamboozled by a climate cartel intent on global governance and global economic control. That's all this bullshit is. Average Americans know it. But the so-called 'smartest among us' are apparently the greatest morons. Every recent winter has been record setting in terms of COLD and the summers HAVE NOT been record setting in terms of WARMTH, despite predictions to the contrary! So, the shift has been to blame the cooler climate on warming in both summer and winter. Can anyone else see the imbecility of this crap besides me?!!!!

All of this cold was met with perfect comic timing by the release of a World Meteorological Organization report showing that 2010 will probably be among the three warmest years on record, and 2001 through 2010 the warmest decade on record.

How can we reconcile this? The not-so-obvious short answer is that the overall warming of the atmosphere is actually creating cold-weather extremes. Last winter, too, was exceptionally snowy and cold across the Eastern United States and Eurasia, as were seven of the previous nine winters.

For a more detailed explanation, we must turn our attention to the snow in Siberia.

Annual cycles like El NiƱo/Southern Oscillation, solar variability and global ocean currents cannot account for recent winter cooling. And though it is well documented that the earth’s frozen areas are in retreat, evidence of thinning Arctic sea ice does not explain why the world’s major cities are having colder winters.

NOAA and Old Farmer's Almanac Duel

So who's going to be right? Will NOAA's warming-centric prediction--one that has been increasingly WRONG--hold true for the winter, or will the Old Farmer's Almanac (80-85% accuracy) win the day with its colder-than-normal winter? We've seen how NOAA has blown it over the past several years; the world has had DEADLY COLD winters since 2008, even though NOAA, NASA, and other AGW proponents of the "consensus" tried to prop up "warmest <fill-in-the-blank> on record" claims. All of this while story upon story touted record cold and winter events in China, Russia, United States, and many other places around the world.

Here's my prediction: OFA wins by a mile!

DUBLIN, N.H. – Most of the country will see a colder-than-usual winter while summer and spring will be relatively cool and dry, according to the time-honored, complex calculations of the "Old Farmer's Almanac."

[From Old Farmer's Almanac: Global cooling to continue - Yahoo! News]

New Study Says Ice Melts Overestimated

And this story comes from a left-of-center news source, so one might come away with the feeling that AFP would prefer to soften the blow to the global warming faithful as much as possible, considering the strength of this data. I'm sure none of the other news organizations (like Reuters or AP) will pick this up, or they'll try to frame it in someway that continues to hold on to the pipedream of manmade global warming.

If scientists were wrong about this, and they were heavily involved in multiple recent climate scandals, and their predictions about climate calamities continue to falter, and their hurricane season predictions (in terms of strength and number) continue to be wrong, a thinking person needs to ask herself what else could "consensus" scientists have incorrect?

Climate: New study slashes estimate of icecap loss

PARIS (AFP) - - Estimates of the rate of ice loss from Greenland and West Antarctica, one of the most worrying questions in the global warming debate, should be halved, according to Dutch and US scientists.

In the last two years, several teams have estimated Greenland is shedding roughly 230 gigatonnes of ice, or 230 billion tonnes, per year and West Antarctica around 132 gigatonnes annually.

Together, that would account for more than half of the annual three-millimetre (0.2 inch) yearly rise in sea levels, a pace that compares dramatically with 1.8mm (0.07 inches) annually in the early 1960s.

2010 Cyclone Season Marks 33-Year LOW

Ever since Katrina in 2005 (a devastating hurricane season for sure), climatologists and various authorities on tropical weather have predicted "stronger than average" hurricane seasons. While the Atlantic season did appear active this year, no major storms hit the United States, even though there have been no shortage of cyclonic doom predictions since Katrina.

AccuWeather predicted the United States would be hit by five named storms in 2010; it didn't happen. And AccuWeather is one of these groups that peddles global warming nonsense. Previous seasonal predictions since 2005 have also failed to materialize.

And the oft blamed culprit for these dire predictions that don't materialize? You guessed it: manmade global warming.

The only problem with these silly (failed) predictions is that Mother Nature didn't cooperate, once again proving that our climate is enormously complex and still capable of baffling the so-called smartest among us.

Update: Current Year-to-Date analysis of Northern Hemisphere and Global Tropical Cyclone Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) AND Power Dissipation Index (PDI) has fallen even further than during the previous 3-years. The global inactivity is at 33-year lows and historical where Typhoons form in the Western Pacific.

While the North Atlantic has seen 15 tropical storms / hurricanes of various intensity, the Pacific basin as a whole is at historical lows! In the Western North Pacific stretching from Guam to Japan and the Philippines and China, the current ACE value of 48 is the lowest seen since reliable records became available (1945) and is 78% below normal*. The next lowest was an ACE of 78 in 1998. See figure below for visual evidence of the past 40-years of tropical cyclone activity.

GASP!: Another AGW Prediction of Doom - 100 Years This Time

These schm-iberals will never stop with the ridiculous Chicken Little routine. But since this guy says the situation is "irreversible," we should just live it up (seeing as how we'll all be dead soon anyway).

We can give up on all the ridiculous solutions that Al Gore and his ilk propose but ignore for themselves. Things like painting our roofs white (Gore doesn't), living away from the soon-to-be flooded coasts (Gore doesn't), and driving hybrid cars (Gore doesn't).

See a pattern of stupidity yet? More GASP! and warmlist stupidity for you to feed on; just follow the links.

WE humans are about to be wiped out in a few decades. The grandchildren of many of us will not live to old age.

Prince Charles: Follow Islam To Save World from Global Warming

If anyone ever doubted whether this moron is a schmuck-assed bastard, here's your proof. Prince Charles hasn't been content with his failed predictions of global warming doom, which he tends to revise after each of the dates of Armageddon pass by unfulfilled.

Now, we need to be Muslims to save the world from global warming. SAB = schmuck-assed bastard.

Isn't it weird how liberals seemingly hate and distrust Christians and Jews, but they seemingly want us all to respect the beliefs of Muslims in the name of religious tolerance?

He added: 'The inconvenient truth is that we share this planet with the rest of creation for a very good reason - and that is, we cannot exist on our own without the intricately balanced web of life around us.

'Islam has always taught this and to ignore that lesson is to default on our contract with creation.'

Beware Coming Chill, Scientist Warns

We've seen stories like this before. Of course, like most climate predictions, these could prove wrong too. It's just interesting that there is no REAL consensus.

Contrary to the commonly held scientific conclusion that the Earth is getting warmer, Dr. Don Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University and author of more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, has unveiled evidence for his prediction that global cooling is coming soon.

“Rather than global warming at a rate of 1 F per decade, records of past natural cycles indicate there may be global cooling for the first few decades of the 21st century to about 2030,” said Easterbrook, speaking on a scientific panel discussion with other climatologists. This, he says, will likely be followed by “global warming from about 2030 to 2060,” which will then be followed by another cooling spell from 2060 to 2090.

Easterbrook spoke before a group of about 700 scientists and government officials at the fourth International Conference on Climate Change. The conference is presented annually in Chicago by the Heartland Institute, a conservative nonprofit think tank that actively questions the theory of man's role in global warming. Last year the Institute published Climate Change Reconsidered, a comprehensive reply to the United Nations' latest report on climate change.

Arctic Sea Ice Exceeds 1970s Levels

Predictions of ice melts deflate "before your eyes."

Scientist: Humans Can't Stop Climate Change...'Too Stupid'

Of course, the laughable implication is that HE IS smart enough to prevent it, while all of us sub-humans aren't bright enough to see his unquestionable intelligence, judgment, and brilliance. I love all of these narcissistic scientists--deities from on-high, proclaiming our ignorance in not "seeing it their way" and understanding their obvious solutions to save us all from ourselves. Didn't a few scientists recently warn against this?

The collapse of a giant glacier in Antarctica WOULD NOT immediate push up sea levels, if it's already displacing water, genius. Thanks for the little bit of injected fear. When disaster doesn't happen, what will you say then? Probably not much, since you're 90. But in 30 years, a lot of the current crop of believers will be disbelievers when they see that the sky really isn't falling after all. So many have already seen through the lie.

He says that a 'a return to the Dust Bowl' of the 1930s would convince people of manmade climate change, but there are a few dilemmas in this assertion. First, what did the first Dust Bowl mean to the people of the day? Obviously, the Dust Bowl moderated...the climate changed--whether naturally or helped along by man--and then reverted back to its normal state (yes, I recognize that many have blamed this event on man). But the Dust Bowl was not blamed on man's CO2 emissions (therefore, another Dust Bowl...even if it happened...would be incorrectly blamed on climate change, given the historical record and this clown's assertion). Second, we're continually told that empirical weather events do not equal climate, unless of course, alarmists say it does. So we're supposed to accept their reasoning about weather events as a result of climate when it suits the alarmists' theories, but when it's cold, icy, and snowy, we're either told that this too is caused by man's climate discretions or that we shouldn't equate weather with climate. LOL! Nice scam, eh?

This is just more radical contorting from a believer who is watching his beloved theory implode. Unfortunately, you probably won't live long enough to be likewise branded as stupid for your fear mongering, Dr. Lovelock.

I will say this...at least you did give a bit of a head-nod to skeptics, and you are calling the Climategate scandal an ethical lapse...because it is!

Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change from radically impacting on our lives over the coming decades. This is the stark conclusion of James Lovelock, the globally respected environmental thinker and independent scientist who developed the Gaia theory.

It follows a tumultuous few months in which public opinion on efforts to tackle climate change has been undermined by events such as the climate scientists' emails leaked from the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the failure of the Copenhagen climate summit.

[From James Lovelock: Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change | Environment | The Guardian]

Green think tank tells environmentalists: Stop Fear Mongering!

Seems like someone is finally learning. You're right, author: All of your psychotic enviro-brethren have greatly harmed their credibility by predicting disaster every chance they get. Just read the GASP! series and warmlist to see all the ridiculous things attributed to global warming and one get's the picture. If that stupidity isn't enough to convince you, just read up on all the scandal news that has rocked the global warming alarmism establishment.

Climate science, even at its most uncontroversial, could never motivate the remaking of the entire global energy economy. Efforts to use climate science to threaten an apocalyptic future should we fail to embrace green proposals, and to characterize present-day natural disasters as terrifying previews of an impending day of reckoning, have only served to undermine the credibility of both climate science and progressive energy policy.

Greenland Glacier Loses Huge Ice Chunk

Now, before you go jumping to conclusions that this means global warming is real (it isn't), look at the second sentence. This was about 10 years before climatologists, at the time, were declaring "The Coming Ice Age." Yes, we were all going to die then too, but it was because we were going to freeze to death.

These morons have been guessing and getting climate predictions wrong for decades, but apparently we're all too dense to see the pattern of stupidity and fear into which we lead them lead us.

A chunk of ice four times the size of Manhattan has calved from Greenland's Petermann Glacier, scientists announced today.

The last time the Arctic lost such a large chunk of ice was in 1962.

"In the early morning hours of August 5, 2010, an ice island four times the size of Manhattan was born in northern Greenland," said Andreas Muenchow, associate professor of physical ocean science and engineering at the University of Delaware.

More Hurricane Predictions

We’ve seen how these hurricane predictions have turned out over the past few years...not very good. They’re just like the overall climate predictions we’ve seen...full of crap.

MIAMI -- AccuWeather.com said Wednesday it expects five hurricanes to hit the U.S. coast in the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane season, which begins on the first day in June, Reuters reported.

The private weather forecaster predicts at least two of them will be major hurricanes.

"The forecast is calling for a much more active 2010 season with above-normal threats on the U.S. coastline," AccuWeather.com said, according to Reuters.
