EPA: CO2 Supplants Saccharin as Environmental Threat

Seems like the politics, fear campaigns, and brouhahas of the present day will always give way to the next generation of scams designed to implant further government regulation, oversight, and control. CO2--that gas that you exhale every moment--has been deemed a 'threat' for climatic warming by our lovely liberal government (though the weather outside is currently frightful). You can see where the scares of old end up...in the scrap heap of history. No more 60 Minutes news stories with the nervous, chain-smoking CEO on saccharin's dangers now.

Now the obvious conclusion that no one seems to be making in our "skeptical media." If the EPA thinks saccharin is not 'a threat after all then maybe CO2 isn't either. I guess we'll have to wait a few decades for the newest, lamest scare to come along.

CHICAGO – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has dropped the artificial sweetener saccharin from its list of hazardous substances, the agency said on Tuesday.

The white crystalline powder used in diet drinks, chewing gum and juice was dubbed a potential cancer-causing agent in 1980. While a review by the National Toxicology Program and the International Agency for Research on Cancer cleared saccharin in the late 1990s, it has remained on the EPA's potential hazard list.

The Obama administration has said it will regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants amid opposition from industry and Republicans in Congress.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said it would regulate emissions from fossil fuel power plants by 2011 and petroleum refineries by 2012.

President Barack Obama is pushing the EPA to cut emissions after a climate bill failed in Congress this year.

But Republican lawmakers have said the EPA's new rules will harm the economy.

Journalists Were Once Ultimate Skeptics

Not any more. "Journalists" are advocates for liberal causes; they don't question shit. Look at all the ignored climate scandals. Look at all the empirical evidence (i.e., cold) that prompted the language shift from "global warming" to "climate change" and then, finally, "global climate disruption" (Obama's minions). The fact that so many "smart" people can't see through this crap is truly fascinating.

Why? Politico’s headline captures the controversy perfectly: “Fox editor urged climate skepticism.”

A journalist being skeptical? Who would ever have thought such a thing could be. I don’t know, maybe anybody who has heard this (attributed long ago to a crusty desk editor at the illustrious City News Bureau in Chicago): “If your mother tells you she loves you, check it out.”

In other words, we journalists are paid to BE SKEPTICAL.

New Study Says Ice Melts Overestimated

And this story comes from a left-of-center news source, so one might come away with the feeling that AFP would prefer to soften the blow to the global warming faithful as much as possible, considering the strength of this data. I'm sure none of the other news organizations (like Reuters or AP) will pick this up, or they'll try to frame it in someway that continues to hold on to the pipedream of manmade global warming.

If scientists were wrong about this, and they were heavily involved in multiple recent climate scandals, and their predictions about climate calamities continue to falter, and their hurricane season predictions (in terms of strength and number) continue to be wrong, a thinking person needs to ask herself what else could "consensus" scientists have incorrect?

Climate: New study slashes estimate of icecap loss

PARIS (AFP) - - Estimates of the rate of ice loss from Greenland and West Antarctica, one of the most worrying questions in the global warming debate, should be halved, according to Dutch and US scientists.

In the last two years, several teams have estimated Greenland is shedding roughly 230 gigatonnes of ice, or 230 billion tonnes, per year and West Antarctica around 132 gigatonnes annually.

Together, that would account for more than half of the annual three-millimetre (0.2 inch) yearly rise in sea levels, a pace that compares dramatically with 1.8mm (0.07 inches) annually in the early 1960s.

Climate alarmists conjured a world where nothing was certain but death, taxes and catastrophic global warming. They used this presumed scientific certainty as a bludgeon against the skeptics they deemed "deniers" -- a word meant to have the noxious whiff of Holocaust denial.

All in the cause of hustling the world into a grand carbon-rationing scheme. Any questions about the evidence for the cataclysmic projections, any concerns about the costs and benefits were trumped by that fearsome scientific "consensus," which had "settled" the important questions.

It has been a bad—make that dreadful—few weeks for what used to be called the "settled science" of global warming, and especially for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that is supposed to be its gold standard.

Speaks for itself...read it and weep, alarmist schmucks. End of the road for you, toads. Finally some mainstream media writers are daring to venture into the chasm, as they can see the writing on the wall.

But the claim was rubbish, and the world's top glaciologists knew it. It was based not on rigorously peer-reviewed science but on an anecdotal report by the WWF itself. When its background came to light on the eve of Copenhagen, Rajendra Pachauri, the head of the IPCC, shrugged it off. But now, even leading scientists and environmental groups admit the IPCC is facing a crisis of credibility that makes the Climategate affair look like small change.

“The global warming movement as we have known it is dead,” the brilliant analyst Walter Russell Mead says in his blog on The American Interest. It was done in by a combination of bad science and bad politics.

The impetus for the Copenhagen conference was that the science makes it imperative for us to act. But even if that were true – and even if we knew what to do – a global deal was never in the cards. As Mr. Mead writes, “The global warming movement proposed a complex set of international agreements involving vast transfers of funds, intrusive regulations in national economies, and substantial changes to the domestic political economies of most countries on the planet.” Copenhagen was never going to produce a breakthrough. It was a dead end.

And now, the science scandals just keep on coming. First there was the vast cache of e-mails leaked from the University of East Anglia, home of a crucial research unit responsible for collecting temperature data. Although not fatal to the science, they revealed a snakepit of scheming to keep contradictory research from being published, make imperfect data look better, and withhold information from unfriendly third parties. If science is supposed to be open and transparent, these guys acted as if they had a lot to hide.

Gore Admits North Pole Faux Pas

First, this is why Al Gore won't debate anyone. He knows he's pulling BS out of his butt and putting it out there as unassailable science. Down with this moron already and his alarmist accomplices. Here, Gore is taking a global warming scientist--one of the people he's counting on to save his ass--and ascribing assertions to the scientist that the scientist claims he never made. Gore is throwing one of his own under the bus just to pump up his already huge ego; this is why he turns off microphones when challenged on his stupid Power Point shows.

Second, the climate alarmists concluded in 2008 that the North Pole would melt completely IN THE SUMMER OF 2008. Guess what? IT NEVER HAPPENED. Another example of our media dropping the ball and avoiding the hard questions and EVEN HARDER follow up, after these stupid predictions don't happen. Even if it did, the Earth's sea levels WOULD NOT RISE. This is based on basic scientific knowledge--the Archimedes Principle.

Oh, and what news organization reported this? The U.K. press! Once again, they're carrying the banner where our liberal media falters.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

Climate Science Fiction of 1970s

Many of us skeptics have seen the Newsweek, Time, and the New York Times stories about the coming ice age from the mid-1970s. Just so you know, that wasn't just media-fed fear. Government-connected climate scientists were saying the same things then and wrote a textbook about it. LOL! Are we really all this dumb? Apparently so. It looks like it took an email leak to bring this Goliath down.

Many of you are too young to remember, but in 1975 our government pushed "the coming ice age."

Random House dutifully printed "THE WEATHER CONSPIRACY … coming of the New Ice Age." This may be the only book ever written by 18 authors. All 18 lived just a short sled ride from Washington, D.C. Newsweek fell in line and did a cover issue warning us of global cooling on April 28, 1975. And The New York Times, Aug. 14, 1976, reported "many signs that Earth may be headed for another ice age."

OK, you say, that's media. But what did our rational scientists say?

In 1974, the National Science Board announced: "During the last 20 to 30 years, world temperature has fallen, irregularly at first but more sharply over the last decade. Judging from the record of the past interglacial ages, the present time of high temperatures should be drawing to an end…leading into the next ice age."

Not much to say here...speaks for itself. Watch the videos. So-called climate scientists who preach fear DO NOT WANT TO DEBATE. Just like Al Gore doesn't want to debate. If there's debate then they'll be exposed even more. Hey Cooper (CBS blogger)...don't you think it's finally the skeptic's turn to be a NUDNIK? Daily Show Reports on Climategate

No one else in the left-leaning media will report on Climategate, so thank goodness for Jon Stewart! Raw Climate Data Destroyed: Climategate

Yes, that's right. All that the gang at East Anglia's CRU have left are their 'modified' climate figures--those that were subjected to a "trick" to "hide" the decline in temperatures. The original, raw data cannot be inspected by other scientists now, because it was DESTROYED. We're modifying our very social and political systems based on the alarmism of these "scientists," and they TOSS THE RAW DATA ASIDE? What scientist EVER does that? NONE.

This is so openly bullshit that it's not even funny. So, where are the hard questions from our "media?" Our joke of a media?

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

The data were gathered from weather stations around the world and then adjusted to take account of variables in the way they were collected. The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.

Climategate: 5 Aussie MPs to Resign

For those of you who don't know, an MP in Australia or the U.K. means "Member of Parliament," which is the equivalent of our U.S. Congressmen. I wonder when ClimateGate will kick in here. Our liberal news media knows that if they report honestly and factually here, they will indict themselves and almost every Democrat in office (and even some moderate--dumb--Republicans).

Though the ETS squeaked narrowly through Australia’s House of Representatives, its Senate is proving more robust – thanks not least to the widespread disgust by the many Senators who have read Professor Plimer’s book Heaven And Earth at the dishonesty and corruption of the AGW industry. If the Senate keeps rejecting the scheme, then the Australian government will be forced to dissolve.

Lying Scientist Told To Resign: Climategate

It keeps coming: Every day there's another story (and usually from the U.K. media) about this scandal. The American liberal press is refusing to acknowledge that this ever happened; how could they? NBC has completely invested itself in being the "Green Network," fully buying into the climate fad, lock-stock-and-barrel.

Moronic leftwing journalists must be completely confused at this point...they bought into all this BS and never asked questions. Whatever happened to the days when reporters questioned everything instead of just accepting what supposed smart people told them? Now, the real question is: How long will all the mainstream media outlets--especially the Green Fad network NBC in all its forms--be able to ignore and bury these stories? When will these damaging facts move from the Op-Ed pages and blogs to the front pages where they belong? There's no way to claim 'out of context' in the countless examples of blatant falsification, data destruction, and unethical behavior on the part of these 'consensus' scientists. The NYT (not surprisingly) just accepted one of the researcher's explanations of the use of the word "hidden" as it relates to calculating temperatures.

One wonders whether these 'really smart people' are aware that they've endangered their careers by being a bunch of liars; fortunately, some of them began salvaging their reputations a while ago, because they realized this balloon could only stay aloft for so long.

Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.

Repeatedly throughout the e-mails that have been made public, proponents of global-warming theories refer to data that has been hidden or destroyed. WSJ: Consensus Scientists Violate Scientific Ethics

Now, the Wall Street Journal is covering the "Climategate" email scandal, where the world seems shocked that these global warming a-holes were trying to stifle debate with their skeptical colleagues (we've known that was happening all along). I hope this is the nail in the myth's coffin, but the lying liars who lie them will keep trying to maintain their climatology grants.
