Yes, that's right...after $79 BILLION we're left with Al Gore giving us PowerPoint shows and proclaiming that Hurricane Katrina was a result of global warming--a proclamation by a layman based on an empirical observation. Meanwhile, the hurricane seasons have dropped off the map and LOWER temperature records are being set everywhere. The Science and Public Policy Institute announces the publication of Climate Money, a study by Joanne Nova revealing that the federal Government has a near-monopsony on climate science funding. This distorts the science towards self-serving alarmism. Key findings:

Ø      The US Government has spent more than $79 billion of taxpayers’ money since 1989 on policies related to climate change, including science and technology research, administration, propaganda campaigns, foreign aid, and tax breaks. Most of this spending was unnecessary.

Ø      Despite the billions wasted, audits of the science are left to unpaid volunteers. A dedicated but largely uncoordinated grassroots movement of scientists has sprung up around the globe to test the integrity of “global warming” theory and to compete with a lavishly-funded, highly-organized climate monopsony. Major errors have been exposed again and again.

Of course they do, as I mentioned before! Everyone who’s still espousing this bull has some angle, some benefit to gain by the scam’s continuation.

Some businesses see nothing but profits in the green movement.

Some business leaders are cozying up with politicians and scientists to demand swift, drastic action on global warming. This is a new twist on a very old practice: companies using public policy to line their own pockets.

The tight relationship between the groups echoes the relationship among weapons makers, researchers and the U.S. military during the Cold War. President Dwight Eisenhower famously warned about the might of the "military-industrial complex," cautioning that "the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." He worried that "there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties."

This is certainly true of climate change. We are told that very expensive carbon regulations are the only way to respond to global warming, despite ample evidence that this approach does not pass a basic cost-benefit test. We must ask whether a "climate-industrial complex" is emerging, pressing taxpayers to fork over money to please those who stand to gain.

Eco-Hypocrites, Including Obama

The level of hypocrisy displayed by celebrities and politicians when it comes to being “green” is boundless. Who are the biggest hypocrites? All the biggest alarmists, of course. We have Obama, Gore, McCartney, and Schwarzzenegar all displaying full-on hypocrisy while preaching to us or attempting to enact laws that will restrict our lives. How much carbon do you think Prince Charles puts out compared with the average citizen on Earth? I bet he travels a lot more than the average citizen, yet he won’t shut his trap about what we’re doing to the planet. Pick any average Hollywood celebrity (who likely spouts this manmade climate BS whenever given the chance) and I’ll show you a carbon-spewing fool.

You can be certain of this—the proposed laws and regulations to “fight global warming” won’t restrict the lives of the hypocrites, because they are wealthy and powerful—the elites. You senseless, media-believing sheep will pay for the world’s carbon transgressions, however, because this has nothing to do with carbon and everything to do with power and wealth for the elites at your expense.

Proof? What about Gore’s “carbon credit” business? This is the little scam where he sells himself carbon credits from his own business to “offset” his “carbon footprint.” So, he pays himself to keep living the same way and proclaim a guilt-free lifestyle. You morons buy it, and the media ignores his silly game.

'Disappearing' Ice Actually Getting Thicker

More ice melting dumbness. Most of the mainstream media (except London’s Telegraph) will not report on this story. I should say that they may report on it in a sense to still highlight “global warming” as a reality, but they’ll omit the part about the US Army buoys and the antithetical data that shows there’s no real problem with thinning ice. Doesn’t fit the Green template.

Why? We’ve been over that so many times. Global warming—like the U.S. automakers or the banks—is TOO BIG to fail.

The 'Global Warming Three' are on thin ice

The only problem with a project to prove that Arctic ice is disappearing is the fact that it is actually getting thicker, says Christopher Booker.

What a wonderful parable of our time has been the expedition to the North Pole led by the explorer Pen Hadow. With two companions, he is measuring the thickness of the ice to show how fast it is “declining”. His expedition is one of a series of events designed to “raise awareness of the dangers of climate change” before December’s conference in Copenhagen, where the warmists hope to get a new treaty imposing much more drastic cuts on CO2 emissions.

The idea is that the expedition should take regular radar fixes on the ice thickness, to be fed into a computer model in California run by Professor Wieslaw Maslowski, whose team, according to the BBC, “is well known for producing results that show much faster ice-loss than other modelling teams”. The professor predicts that summer ice could be completely gone as early as next year. It took the Watts Up With That? science blog to point out that there is little point in measuring ice thickness unless you do it several years running, and that, anyway, Arctic ice is being constantly monitored by US Army buoys. The latest reading given by a typical sensor shows that since last March the ice has thickened by “at least half a metre”.

UW-Milwaukee Study Could Realign Climate Change Theory

MILWAUKEE -- The bitter cold and record snowfalls from two wicked winters are causing people to ask if the global climate is truly changing.

The climate is known to be variable and, in recent years, more scientific thought and research has been focused on the global temperature and how humanity might be influencing it.

However, a new study by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee could turn the climate change world upside down.

Scientists at the university used a math application known as synchronized chaos and applied it to climate data taken over the past 100 years.

Kerry: Climate change delay is 'suicide pact'

A leading US senator warned on Wednesday that deferring potentially costly actions to combat climate change because of the global economic slump amounted to "a mutual suicide pact."

"Climate change is not governed by a recession, it's governed by scientific facts about what's happening to Earth. And you either accept the realities of the science or you don't," said Democratic Senator John Kerry.

He spoke after some of his colleagues argued that the United States should not impose a cap-and-trade system for so-called greenhouse gases blamed for global warming because it amounts to a painful tax during a deep downturn.

"You don't enter a mutual suicide pact because the economy is having a hard time right now," Kerry said after meeting with UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon seven months before global climate change talks in Denmark's capital.

Weather Channel Founder Blasts Gore Over Global Warming Campaign

The founder of the Weather Channel is ridiculing Al Gore over his calls for action on global climate change, saying in a column that global warming is a "hoax" and "bad science."

John Coleman, now a weatherman at San Diego's KUSI, wrote on his station's Web site Wednesday that Gore refuses to acknowledge the faulty research on which the idea of global warming is based.

Coleman's lengthy scolding came as the former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner addressed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and urged lawmakers to pass a bill that would put caps on heat-trapping gases and take the lead on a global climate treaty.

Exotic climate study sees refugees in Antarctica | Environment | Reuters:

OSLO (Reuters) - Refugees are moving to Antarctica by 2030, the Olympics are held only in cyberspace and central Australia has been abandoned as too dry, according to exotic scenarios for climate change on Monday.

British-based Forum for the Future, a charitable think-tank, and researchers from Hewlett-Packard Labs, said they wanted to stir debate about how to avert the worst effects of global warming by presenting a radical set of possible futures.

"Climate change will affect the economy at least as much as the 'credit crunch'," their 76-page report study said.

The scenarios range from a shift to greater energy efficiency, where desalination plants run on solar power help turn the Sahara green, to one where refugees are moving to Antarctica because of rising temperatures.

Climate Change Could Wreck New York's Bridges, Tunnels

Those scenarios are up for review by a panel of scientists, government officials and private sector representatives studying how the city's infrastructure will hold up to climate change.

The Climate Change Adaptation Task Force met Tuesday for the first time as part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plan to address global warming in New York City, which already includes orders to switch the city's taxi fleet to hybrids by 2012 and to retrofit city buildings to meet greener standards.

Alaska Mad At DC Democrats For Polar Bear “Protections”

As the left-thinking side of our nation continues in its attempts to push us over the “climate change cliff,” the governor of Alaska cried foul for playing with her state’s economic growth potential based on shoddy data and stupid science.

POLAR BEARS ARE NOT EXTINCT and they are IN NO DANGER OF BEING EXTINCT! If anyone has their “head in the sand” it’s the stupid alarmists like Siegel, who continue to ignore the fact that manmade global warming is nonexistent.

In my opinion, the global warming hoax and cult have been completely exposed, but as long as the media still maintains its unassailability as truth then we’ll continue to watch as opportunists maneuver to take advantage in whatever way they can—whether for profit or political power (or both).

Alaska Sues U.S. Over 'Threatened' Polar Bear Status:

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The state of Alaska sued Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne on Monday, seeking to reverse his decision to list polar bears as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.

Gov. Sarah Palin and other state officials fear a listing will cripple offshore oil and gas development in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas in Alaska's northern waters, which provide prime habitat for the only polar bears under U.S. jurisdiction.

"We believe that the Service's decision to list the polar bear was not based on the best scientific and commercial data available," Palin said in announcing the lawsuit.

Kassie Siegel of the Center for Biological Diversity, the lead author of the petition that led to the listing, said U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service scientists addressed skeptics' objections during the listing process. She called the lawsuit "completely ridiculous and a waste of the court's time."

"This lawsuit and her head-in-the-sand approach to global warming only helps oil companies, certainly not Alaska or the polar bear," Siegel said. "Gov. Palin should be working for sustainable, clean energy development in Alaska instead of extinction for the polar bear."

Brazilian Boondoggle

Boondoggle? You bet global warming is. Are other countries paying attention? Of course they are. Here we see Brazil with its hand out; they want “donations from developed countries” to help them “combat global warming.” Do you see? Profiteering...plain and simple.

"Developed countries" means you and I pay via our already generous federal tax contributions, and this supplements BILLIONS we already send to the third-world each year in aid. Such AGW-related scams are a dime-a-dozen these days.

Funny how the Brazilian President says that Brazil "will certainly assume its responsibility" in combating global warming, but instead of assuming the responsibility, they ask us for the money to assume responsibility. LOL!

This is all comes as Brazil recently rejected billions in US aid because the grant was linked to AIDS prevention campaigns that promoted abstinence and required anti-prostitution pledges.

Brazil's President Creates Fund to Protect Amazon, Combat Global Warming:

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva signed a decree Friday creating a fund that will seek donations from developed countries to help protect the Amazon rain forest and combat global warming.

Officials say the fund could raise as much as US$21 billion by 2021 for projects promoting alternatives to rain forest destruction, protecting nature preserves and developing scientific and technological advances to protect the environment.

"Brazil will certainly assume its responsibility to preserve the Amazon, to combat global warming," Silva said at a ceremony at Brazil's National Development Bank, which is charged with administering the fund.

In September 2006, Virgin boss Richard Branson pledged €1.9 billion towards tackling global warming. For the next ten years, he announced, the profits from his aviation and rail businesses would go towards combating the biggest, most complex problem that mankind has ever faced.

The promise earned Branson headlines around the world. Media outlets carried photos of him, Bill Clinton and Al Gore at a Clinton Global Initiative press conference in New York. Adults, Branson solemnly told the assembled media, had a duty to pass a ‘‘pristine’’ planet on to the next generation. Politicians and campaigners were effusive in their praise for his imagination and generosity.

However, a look at the not-very-small print revealed that this amazing gesture would not be a matter of taking the profits from Branson’s polluting industries and using them to protect vast tracts of the Amazon.

In fact, the money would go to a new division of the Virgin conglomerate, called Virgin Fuel. Branson was simply gearing himself up to make more money. But as always, the PR spin was that he’d be doing the rest of us a favour in the process.

Criticism inherent in advancement of science

Okay, so what does the linked article have to do with global warming? It describes the very nature of science and research, which the anthropogenic global warming “consensus” attempts to circumvent by establishing politically correct lines of thought that are impervious to criticism or debate. “The time for debate is over,” bellows Al Gore and his brainwashed cult discipleship.

Here we see a scientist in a line of research unconnected to climatology (unless danger associated with tilapia consumption is caused by global warming too, and I’m sure they’ll claim that soon enough). This medical scientist is describing exactly what I’ve tried to convey in this blog for months—SCIENCE IS DEBATE AT IT’S VERY CORE. Science lives or dies through debate and criticism, unless you’re an alarmist scientist or politician. Then contrary voices had better shut up.

He also lets slip another interesting anecdote. When the potential to make or lose money is involved, the voices who stand to potentially lose money can become deafening in their shrill protests. The AGW parallel here involves all the business concerns related to “climate change.” Global warming is now a huge industry, from carbon credits to biofuels to hybrid cars to alternative energy to light bulbs to federally-funded climate research. There’s a lot of money to be made, so long as global warming remains “real” and unquestioned in the minds of the public (i.e., so long as they can keep most sheep believing).

Now you can see one more reason why global warming—as stupid as it is in terms of actual science—is refusing to die like it should after being completely debunked.

Wake Forest researcher triggers storm over study on tilapia fish

The study appeared in this month's issue of Journal of the American Dietetic Association, which also featured a report that offered a mixed review of the Wake findings. Chilton will have the opportunity to respond to the critical report in a coming issue of the journal.

Dr. William Applegate, the dean of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, said that criticism, including from colleagues, is an inherent, and sometimes helpful, part of the advancement of science.

"The higher the financial stake involved in a study, the greater the level of industry criticism tends to be generated," Applegate said.

Insurers use "global warming" to hike rates

Hurricanes. Al Gore was one of the original proponents of this flawed theory; Hurricanes aren’t spurned by global warming, especially since global warming is a stupid sham being propped up by nutjobs. Want proof? What have we heard on the U.S. coastlines since Hurricane Katrina, which Gore implied was fed by global warming in his stupid movie?

The AGW alarmist’s response to these subsequent “non-seasons” following continued predictions to the contrary?

What would be the outcry if there had been devastating storms since 2005? We all know the answer, because EVERYTHING IS CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING. The hurricane seasons continue to defy even Dr. Gray’s often-praised predictions, proving once again the arrogant fallibility of man in conducting prophecy on Mother Nature.

AGW becomes a convenient way to raise rates or eliminate hurricane insurance coverage within the insurance industry.

Cyclones are fed and strengthened in-part by warm oceans waters, but they originate from thunderstorms that are formed by contrasting temperature gradients (mixing of COLD AND HOT air masses). Note again—COLD AND HOT air coming together, not just HOT. The stronger the contrast between air masses, the stronger the resulting thunderstorms. I’m not even a meteorologist and I know this. Incidentally, tornados come from thunderstorms too, so they are also NOT CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING, even if Senator Kerry says they are (and he’s not a meteorologist either).

So, what’s happening now? What I told you about earlier. Those who jump on the AGW bandwagon are either blind, unthinking followers, looking to make a buck somehow, or they have some other personal agenda they’re keeping close to the vest. In this case, AGW becomes a convenient way to raise rates or eliminate hurricane insurance coverage within the insurance industry; it's simply profiteering. See? AGW solutions and adjustments will only harm the American consumer and hurt the economy, which Bill Clinton openly stated was necessary to “save the planet for our grandkids.” Give me a break!

Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month:

NASHVILLE - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

Global warming taking a 10-year vacation!

On a cool May afternoon in 2008, an alarmed climate alarmist schemes:

"Wait! 100-years of global warming was more or less erased in one year! We need a way out of this debacle; our reputations are in jeopardy! I've got it! We'll just say that global warming is taking a decade hiatus...perfect! Surely the temperatures will begin migrating towards warmth again within a decade; all good sine waves eventually head back towards the positive. Then we'll be back in the climate-consensus-manipulation business."

We've seen this coming folks; I've already written about how they've been claiming that the cooling we've seen is caused by global warming OR that La Nina is driving the cooling trend and "masking" warming (they'll deny until they're blue in the face that solar weather has anything to do with our climate). But few in the media seem willing to entertain the idea that AGW is a bunch of bunk.

Everything possible is being dreamed up or manipulated to prop up the notion of human-emitted CO2 as the "boogeyman" of our climate. Their little theory is blowing away like a fart in the wind (or at least CO2 in the wind), and we've talked here about why they must salvage this baloney at all costs. Now, there is far too much money at stake, and far too many "experts" are on record as espousing this completely baseless drivel (in science and politics, REPUTATIONS ALSO EQUAL MONEY).

IN ONE YEAR (2007-08 winter season), the temperatures moderated in the reverse direction (below the questionable "long-term average" baseline THEY established); the global mean this winter was 0.7°C below the "long term" average (I use their words "long-term" loosely, because there's nothing statistically "LONG-TERM" about how they came up with their baseline).

Need I mention again that the temperature (against their baseline) has ONLY FALLEN since the proclaimed 1998 high (when El Nino was supposed to be warming the Earth), while CO2 keeps going up? This means (again if you believe their baseline-and why should you when they're wrong about everything else?) that our temperatures are now at 1930s levels-with AN EVER INCREASING CO2 SATURATION! So, the very basis of their theory is done--IT'S SHOT! Therefore, enter La Nina to save the day. We must keep the faithful believing in the faith! There MUST be a reason global warming is being "masked"! LOL! So many "consensus experts" can't be wrong.

Just remember, when Galileo published his theories about the Sun being the center of the known universe (opposing the Earth-centric theory espoused by the Roman-Catholic Church), other thinkers of the day produced intricate, complex mathematical models by which we could continue propping up the church-backed myth that the Earth was the center of the solar system, such that it would jibe with the observed movements of the heavens. Galileo's theory was perfect; it easily explained the movements of the heavenly bodies in terms of elliptical or circular orbits, but it also required one to accept the notion (now known fact) that the Sun was the center of the solar system.

This was heresy at the time! Galileo was threatened, branded with "D" for "denier" or "skeptic," if you will; he dared to poke the consensus opinion (the "smart" people) of the day with a stick. Galileo was also eventually silenced and forced to recant his "heretical" counter-theory, eventually vindicated only after his death. Sounds a lot like what's going on right now with the consensus-deemed "unassailable theory" of manmade global warming. It's utter nonsense...it's in danger of being totally exposed. Advocates and alarmists aren't happy with this recent turn of cold and snowy events, so it's time for "shields-up!"

Ocean Cooling to Briefly Halt Global Warming, Researchers Say

April 30 (Bloomberg) -- Parts of North America and Europe may cool naturally over the next decade, as shifting ocean currents temporarily blunt the global-warming effect caused by mankind, Germany's Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences said. Average temperatures in areas such as California and France may drop over the next 10 years, influenced by colder flows in the North Atlantic, said a report today by the institution based in Kiel, Germany. Temperatures worldwide may stabilize in the period.

``Natural variations over the next 10 years might be heading in the cold direction,'' Wood said. ``If you run the model long enough, eventually global warming will win.''

The world will become at least 2.5 degrees Celsius warmer by 2100, compared with the pre-industrial period, Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said in March.

You got that? IPCC researchers project no global warming over the next decade because of Mother Nature. Although the result seems stunning in that it came from IPCC scientists who have always been in the tank for manmade global warming, it's not really surprising since the notion of manmade climate change has never lived up to its billing.

The bottom line of global warming - and that is why so many are behind it - is that its many vested interests are on the verge of a financial and political bonanza, something that scientific facts and climatic realities are likely only to spoil.

So when global temperature doesn't behave as predicted, excuses and explanations must be found to prevent the almost-mature golden goose from being roasted for dinner. The spin on the Nature study provided by its authors to The New York Times is that, "We're learning that [natural] climate variability is important and can mask the effects of human-induced global change. In the end this gives more confidence in the long-term projections."

President Bush is poised to change course and announce as early as this week that he wants Congress to pass a bill to combat global warming, and will lay out principles for what that should include.

Specifics of the policy are still being fiercely debated, but Bush administration officials have told Republicans in Congress that they feel pressure to act now because they fear a coming regulatory nightmare. It would be the first time Mr. Bush has called for statutory authority on the subject.

We've seen how GWB has proven he's on the profiteering bandwagon, when it comes to this climate alarmism nonsense. Now, he's proving that he can still beat Al Gore, even at his own scam.

In the very same week that Gore launched a $300 million public relations campaign to convince Americans that "together we can solve the climate crisis," prominent climate alarmist Tom Wigley essentially endorsed President Bush’s approach to global warming while criticizing that of Gore’s co-Nobelist, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC.

In an article entitled "Dangerous Assumptions" published in Nature on April 3, Wigley writes that the technology challenge presented by the goal of stabilizing atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations "has been seriously underestimated by the IPCC, diverting attention from policies that could directly stimulate technological innovation."

Wigley, even though he is a lead author of the most recent IPCC report, describes that document as relying on "unrealistic" and "unachievable" CO2 emissions scenarios — even for the present decade. For the period 2000-2010, the IPCC assumes that energy and fossil fuel efficiency is increasing.

Gore launches "NEW" climate campaign?

You mean Al Gore was not ALREADY on an advocacy campaign for manmade climate change?! What the heck was his dumb movie? What the heck is that boatload of hot air permeating from his oral orifice on a near weekly basis via the media spotlight? Why is the media helping him create this illusion that this “NEW” campaign is somehow different from the one we’ve been witnessing for years? I guess this "new" campaign is for those of you tired of the old one.

Why won’t Al Gore—a cult-anointed climatologist—debate some of the smartest people in climate science, like Dr. Richard Lindzen, a climate scientist from MIT and fellow AGW skeptic? I know why. Because Gore's no authority whatsoever; he would have his shorts handed to him in a real scientific debate with a real scientist, because this ain’t politics, baby, though lately it’s getting harder to discern the difference between science and politics.

Why is a flawed theory (that has been so thoroughly debunked that it's not funny) still so widely accepted and espoused by media and politicians alike? Follow the dollars, my friend. Dollars for research grants and dollars for carbon credits (including credits from Gore's own company--that he buys from himself) and other emerging climate technologies (such as biofuels) spell big money for everyone except you common sheep out there.

After all, who puts money into science--whether for AIDS, or space, or climate--where there is nothing really alarming? More on profiteering below with respect to climate change and Guyana. It's easy to see why it's not going to go away easily, even with all the mounting scientific evidence and the opinions of scientists (some who were once on the IPCC); there's too much money at stake--research money for scientists and profit for politicians. When ethical scientists speak up, they're essentially shoved down by the all-powerful "consensus" because the ethical scientists are "taking food off the table."

Remember, our Founding Fathers did this sort of thing, too; they went to war to "free the colonists from evil British oppression," but they were, in reality, protecting their own personal and business interests. Profiteering under noble guises is not a new thing to America; it's almost part of America! History does repeat itself. The Boston "Massacre" and resulting outrage from the inflamed, biased media coverage in the form of Paul Revere's engraving was the major impetus behind stirring popular dissent and starting the Revolutionary War! Don't think the media doesn't still do these things! Don't think our leaders, regardless of party, are no longer elites and out for their own best interests! Your interests only become their interests when popular opinion threatens their hold on power (and thus wealth).

LONDON (Reuters) - The British-based investment firm Canopy Capital said on Thursday it had bought a share in the rain-making potential of a chunk of Guyanan rainforest bigger than the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.

The move is a novel twist in an investor frenzy to make money from the prospect of climate change that has also seen businesses snap up permits to emit greenhouse gases and invest in low carbon-emitting technologies.

Need more proof? Here's where two countries are trying to find cheaper "wiggle room" with regard to carbon credits, but you can bet Al Gore and company aren't going to stand by and let that happen. Carbon credits that are cheap would cut into their profits!

Don't be fooled by the article below. Oil firms already wanted to explore these regions and have the technology to do so; they have been prevented by the environmentalist lobby from carrying through, however. The media wants you to fear both the "melting ice" and those evil oil companies who would "compound" the problem.
