Greenhouse Gases Drop to 15-Yr Low

Remember when prominent liberals said that we needed to cool the U.S. economy to fight global warming?!? Weird how the mainstream liberal media doesn’t follow-up on those earlier proclamations, now that people are struggling in this limp economy. Why aren’t Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Browner, and other liberals all proclaiming their efforts at fighting climate change a success by the crippling of the U.S. economy through socialist policies? Hmmm? Anyone?

Thulsa Doom Obama is getting what he wanted. High fuel prices. Government dependence. Higher debt and deficits. But lower carbon emissions. This country is heading to hell.

In total, in 2009 emissions of the greenhouse gases, which are linked to climate change, were the equivalent of 6,640 metric tons of carbon dioxide, down from 7,062 metric tons in 2008 and a high of 7,265 metric tons in 2007. U.S. emissions in 2009 were more than 7% greater than 1990 levels, the report said.

CA Overstated Pollution by 340% to Pass Diesel Laws

Sounds amazingly like all the global warming scandals that have surfaced over the past two years. Please note everyone: Scientists (even "consensus" ones) are not infallible human beings; they have political inclinations which CAN AND DO (sometimes) bias their research.

Please don't fall for the arrogant liberal maxim that says normal, "uneducated" folk are unintelligent morons who can't think their way out of a paper sack. Common sense is sometimes useful in sniffing out the rats in one's science.

California grossly miscalculated pollution levels in a scientific analysis used to toughen the state's clean-air standards, and scientists have spent the past several months revising data and planning a significant weakening of the landmark regulation, The Chronicle has found.

The pollution estimate in question was too high - by 340 percent, according to the California Air Resources Board, the state agency charged with researching and adopting air quality standards. The estimate was a key part in the creation of a regulation adopted by the Air Resources Board in 2007, a rule that forces businesses to cut diesel emissions by replacing or making costly upgrades to heavy-duty, diesel-fueled off-road vehicles used in construction and other industries.

Reality Ignored as Businesses/Governments Challenge Green Fad

Even though Thulsa Doom Obama is refusing to acknowledge reality, business interests that once bought into the hoax (many because it was a boondoggle on which they didn’t want to miss out) are now beginning to turn their backs on intrusive government global warming “solutions,” following recent revelations and scandals involving the “science” behind manmade climate change.

Empirical evidence is also turning more believers into skeptics, even though the alarmist faithful are doing their best to contain the damage following all of the record winter weather. Whereas alarmists once touted empirical weather events that they felt made the case for manmade climate change (little or no snow, heat waves, melting ice, Lake Erie not freezing, hurricanes, tornados, stronger thunderstorms, and all sorts of other ridiculous ills unrelated to weather), they now say that antithetical weather data being experienced (i.e., record snow, record cold, record ice, Lake Erie freezing again, etc.) IS STILL PROOF of global warming.

So, empirical weather data (whatever the temperature involved) is now irrelevant as proof, whereas empirical weather data associated with warmer temperatures was once touted on a daily basis as proof. And you’re not supposed to notice the contradiction; and if you do notice, they’ll tell you how you’re wrong for noticing (because the myth must be kept alive at all costs—too much is at stake for the players). The “precious Earth” is the last thing on their greedy, power-hungry minds, believe me.

They really need to put the crackpipe down. The sheep are waking up.

DALLAS, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Texas and several national industry groups on Tuesday filed separate petitions in federal court challenging the government's authority to regulate U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.

Texas, which leads U.S. states in carbon dioxide emissions due to its heavy concentration of oil refining and other industries, will see a major impact if U.S. mandatory emissions reductions take effect.

In December, the Environmental Protection Agency ruled that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide endanger human health, opening the door for the agency to issue mandatory regulations to reduce them.

Texas said it had filed a petition for review challenging the EPA's "endangerment finding" with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Texas has also asked the EPA to reconsider its ruling.

"The EPA's misguided plan paints a big target on the backs of Texas agriculture and energy producers and the hundreds of thousands of Texans they employ," Texas Gov. Rick Perry said.

[From UPDATE 1-Texas to challenge US greenhouse gas rules | Reuters]

Several companies are quitting an influential lobbying group focusing in on legislation, despite the administratin's push to use the budget to pass greenhouse gas legistlation. WSJ's Grainne McCarthy reports in the News Hub.

Oil giants BP PLC and ConocoPhillips and heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday they won't renew their membership in the three-year-old U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a broad business-environmental coalition that had been instrumental in building support in Washington for capping emissions of greenhouse gases.

The move comes as debate over climate change intensifies and concerns mount about the cost of capping greenhouse-gas emissions.

On a range of issues, from climate change to health care, skepticism is growing in Washington that Congress will pass any major legislation in a contentious election year in which Republicans are expected to gain seats. For companies, the shifting winds have reduced pressure to find common ground, leading them to pursue their own, sometimes conflicting interests.

EPA Formally Declares CO2 as 'Endangering'

Did Climategate just happen? All the faithful sheep refuse to have their belief shaken a bit; all hail the EPA. Say goodbye to more of your money; you will now pay more for fuel, electricity, or any other energy need that you may have. Why? Because who is "the government"? You are, my friend. And you're now responsible for this travesty; you elected it...it's all yours.

Obama wants to create jobs? Not this way. Any "jobs" created will be the imaginary kind much like those claimed right now with >10% unemployment. Green jobs are apparently being created by BS. This CO2 regulation is such a HORRIBLE business DISINCENTIVE. All products that are produced with fossil fuels (i.e., EVERYTHING) will now cost more. Your taxes will be higher. You wanted to believe this global warming bullshit? Well, pay up.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Environmental Protection Agency has concluded greenhouse gases are endangering people's health and must be regulated, signaling that the Obama administration is prepared to contain global warming without congressional action if necessary.
EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson scheduled a news conference for later Monday to announce the so-called endangerment finding, officials told The Associated Press, speaking privately because the announcement had not been made.

The finding is timed to boost the administration's arguments at an international climate conference—opening Monday—that the United States is aggressively taking actions to combat global warming, even though Congress has yet to act on climate legislation.

[From EPA: Greenhouse gases endanger human health]

Many business groups are opposed to EPA efforts to curb a gas as ubiquitous as carbon dioxide.

An EPA endangerment finding "could result in a top-down command-and-control regime that will choke off growth by adding new mandates to virtually every major construction and renovation project," U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue said in a statement. "The devil will be in the details, and we look forward to working with the government to ensure we don't stifle our economic recovery," he said, noting that the group supports federal legislation.

The Obama administration is expected to formally declare carbon dioxide a dangerous pollutant. WSJ's Jeffrey Ball and MarketWatch's Steve Gelsi explain what the decision could mean for companies.

EPA action won't do much to combat climate change, and "is certain to come at a huge cost to the economy," said the National Association of Manufacturers, a trade group that stands as a proxy for U.S. industry.

Fuel Taxes to Lower Greenhouse Gases

Contrast this article with the one a few days ago. What does that tell you? What side does the media take with regard to environmental taxation?

I keep wondering when the world will wake up and call this scam for what it is, but there are apparently enough sheep grazing out there to allow the lefty-enviro-politicians of the world to milk every last cent out of ‘global warming.’

These taxes (your money)—just like cigarette taxes that were going to be used to pay for smoking-related health costs but weren’t—will not be used to fight CO2, a natural, necessary gas for life (not a pollutant). Oh yes, cigarette taxes were also going to discourage smoking while also paying for healthcare? If people stopped smoking because of the taxes then where would the tax revenue come from to pay for the healthcare? No one stopped smoking because of the taxes. These taxes had nothing to do with the reasoning claimed.

The revenue from this silly fuel tax will go to some government program that will have no worth other than giving its staff members a permanent job. That job will morph into something else, once the green fad and global warming are tossed into the dustbin of history. Since there's already no global warming, the politicians can claim that their tax "fixed it." Neat scam, huh?

Swedish government to raise fuel taxes to cut greenhouse gases

Until voters in free countries stand up to this tomfoolery, they’ll continue to tell us that they’re saving us by raising our taxes. Come on people! Don’t you see this for what it is??!

Stockholm - Higher taxes on vehicles and fuel are in store for Swedish motorists, transport companies and industry as part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the government said Tuesday. Finance Minister Anders Borg, Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren and Enterprise Minister Maud Olofsson said in a joint statement that the measures would take the current financial slump into account.

As of 2011 taxes on diesel fuel were to be raised in two stages by 0.40 kronor (0.04 dollars), as would taxes on carbon-dioxide emissions while the forestry and agriculture sectors would be included in emissions trading schemes.

The measures that included taxes on heating were part of a pending bill on energy and enviroment, and the goal was to cut greenhouse gas emissions by a further 2 million tons by 2020.

"A price tag on climate changing emissions underlines that emissions carry a cost that have to be paid," Carlgren said.

Animal Death-Watch: All male fish!

LOL! It’s comical. Okay, I know it’s getting old, but please look at the warmlist and pay attention to the section on extinctions being attributed to global warming, and while you’re at it, look at our Animal Death-Watch series to discern just how many animals we evil humans are killing off by just breathing and pooting out more greenhouse gases.

Oh, I know...fossil fuels. But the culprit is supposedly a byproduct of fossil fuel usage—that ever-present gas called CO2 that
plants just love to use to make O2 for us to breath via photosynthesis. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. It is increasing in our atmosphere. It is STILL a minor greenhouse gas compared to water vapor and methane, however, even in increasing amounts. CO2 has gone up over the past ten years while temperatures (if measurements are even accurate) have gone down (and plummeted over the past year).

Therefore, realize that GLOBAL WARMING IS
NONSENSE AND NON-EXISTENT, even though the propaganda machine is trying to hold on to the pipedream as if we “doubters” are worthless sub-humans that don’t deserve to be taken seriously. The British have already beaten us Americans to sanity (70% of Brits disbelieve in global warming versus 50% of Americans). I guess we Americans are more susceptible to media stories that tell us how to think and what to believe; I applaud the British for using their brains.

Global Warming's Fish-Sex Effect:

Once scientists began studying the impact of global warming on everything from tourism to asthma, it was only a matter of time before they got around to sex. Now two biologists at Spain's Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) have done just that, at least when it comes to fish.

You may have missed it in biology class, but in some finned species, like the Atlantic silverside — as well as in many reptiles — sex is determined not by genetics but by temperature: the undifferentiated embryo develops testes or ovaries on the basis of whichever option conveys evolutionary advantages for that particular environment.

Now, in a study published in the July 30 edition of the scientific journal Public Library of Science, Natalia Ospina-Alvarez and Francesc Piferrer have gone a little further in explaining how that mechanism works. In laboratory tests, they have demonstrated that higher water temperatures result in more male fish.

Sir Richard's Spaceship: Does it run on biofuel?

It's our global warming fighter, Sir Richard Branson, again! I'm sure this thing uses hydrogen fuel cells, coconut oil, or batteries to reach sub-orbit......NOT!

FOXNews.com - Virgin Galactic Unveils Space Mothership - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News:

British billionaire Sir Richard Branson and American aerospace designer Burt Rutan on Monday showed off their mothership, which is designed to air launch a passenger-toting spaceship out of the atmosphere.

The rollout — a year after a deadly accident at Rutan's test site — marks the start of a rigorous flight test program that space tourism advocates hope will climax with the first suborbital joy rides by the end of the decade.

More than 250 wannabe astronauts have paid $200,000 or put down deposits for a chance to float weightless for a mere five minutes.

Global warming stupidity backfiring

...or maybe it isn't, if one's goal is to cause and sustain an economic recession. After all, Bill Clinton said the economy needed to be slowed to fight global warming . So, here we go! We're already seeing the results of what will happen to capitalism as this stupid cult movement becomes entrenched in the psyches of sheep worldwide, and those sheep hand over power to the "government" to save them from doom. When we let the liberals run our lives for us and "save us from doom," we're frickin' doomed. Get ready to enjoy a proletarian lifestyle!

Tax means fewer travellers at main Dutch airport: report:

Some 50,000 fewer passengers are expected to use Amsterdam Schiphol airport, one of Europe's busiest, this summer on account of a Dutch environmental tax on flights, it was reported Saturday.

"We're expected zero growth in 2008, and in fact a decrease (in passenger numbers) in July and August," an airport spokesman was quoted as saying by the domestic ANP news agency.

The Netherlands is the only country that levies an environmental tax on flights departing the country -- 11.25 euros per passenger (17.75 dollars) for European destinations and 45 euros for intercontential points.

With higher fuel prices pushing up air fares worldwide, travel industry experts say the tax will hurt business at Schiphol and see many Dutch travellers go to nearby German airports instead.

Restaurant drive-throughs cause global warming!

Fast-Food-RestaurantsThis is it folks; we are beginning to see the slippery slope of global warming solutions, from goofy light bulbs to insect-only diets. I've discussed before that manmade climate change alarmists (the media, certain politicians, and some politically-connected scientists) were employing an 'indoctrination duality'; first, using fear to inspire us to demand government action to halt global warming, and second, by unceasingly listing the "horrible" results of man's climate transgressions. The ever-growing list of nasty AGW consequences are quite funny to read; merely glancing over the lengthy page of article links will quickly illustrate to any normal, thinking person the scope of the media's ludicrous propaganda campaign. You can supplement your perusal of the 'warmlist' by reading the GASP! series here.

In reality, I should have called the media's tactics an "indoctrination trinity," because the third aspect of the their consistent misinformation crusade involves publishing imagined solutions to global warming. Really simple stuff-get rid of the causes and you have your solution to the fear and their 'education' will have worked! And it also works in reverse: If you're using the fancy new global warming dumbass light bulbs then you are helping to eliminate global warming, because old-fashioned Edison-type bulbs set the Earth ablaze.

Here, we see that restaurant drive-throughs-yes, you read that right-are helping to CAUSE nonexistent global warming, so the SOLUTION is to nix restaurant drive-throughs, a staple of American capitalism for decades. I guess the theory is that idling cars are bad, so we should probably get rid of traffic lights too. Maybe their real goal is to cut down on fatty food consumption--a liberal crusade for some time. Yes, I know you fruitcakes out there right now are yelling that it's all about increased CO2--all of these human activities increase CO2. But see...it's not about CO2. Rising CO2 levels DO NOT MIRROR temperature levels (as originally portrayed by alarmists), because temperatures have fallen since 1998 (and fell sharply in 2007-08). Notice that all solutions to global warming-which is complete BS, by the way-involve destroying or limiting some vestige of capitalism (the fuel of capitalism is currently petrol). Don't believe me? Bill Clinton himself said we need to slow down our economy to fight global warming (looks like he's getting his wish with these ridiculous oil prices).

I've discussed this at length; the global warming cult is merely a resurgence of classic socialism in the guise of trying to nobly save the planet. When no scientific debate is allowed because Al Gore-a really smart scientist (NOT!)-proclaims the time for debate to be over, we are heading toward socialism at around Mach 4!

We can eat all the bugs we want. We can use retarded, unpleasant corkscrew light bulbs. We can try to hold our breath to emit less CO2. We can modify the diets of cows to make them fart less, or we can make PETA happy too by just refusing to eat beef. We can all ride bicycles to work. We can plant, hug, and make love to trees. We can use only three sheets of toilet paper (and make Sheryl Crow jump for liberal joy). We can use every last stalk of corn to make biofuel (to hell with those hungry, poor people). We can all avoid using airlines and definitely avoid drive-throughs. We can do whatever these "really smart people" (who know way better than you or I how to save our dumbasses) say to do. And do you know what? It still will not make a bit of difference; the Earth laughs at our pathetic, arrogant attempts to modify its climate, either by accident or on-purpose. The Earth will go on warming and cooling, long after we're extinct.

Mike Ivey: Should Madison ban the drive-through?

First it was a proposed ban on plastic bags.

Now, a member of the influential Madison Plan Commission wants to ban the restaurant drive-through -- or at least restrict the ubiquitous symbol of America's auto-centric lifestyle.

"Given the concern about all the carbon going into the atmosphere, I'm not sure we should be building more places for people to sit idling in their cars," says Eric Sundquist, who was appointed to the citizen panel by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz this spring.

McCain is an idiot

...and so is Obama. They're both idiots when it comes to global warming.

McCain bucks Bush on climate change:

Republican nominee-elect John McCain Tuesday vowed to combat global warming without sacrificing economic growth, contradicting President George W. Bush on the need for binding emissions cuts.

Unlike Bush, McCain pressed for mandatory cuts in emissions of warming gases as he spoke at a California event alongside Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who opposes the White House hopeful's call for offshore oil drilling.

McCain said lifting a federal ban on coastal drilling may not bring down sky-high fuel prices for "some years," but could have a psychological impact as the United States takes greater control over its energy future.

"Nothing is more urgent right now than regaining our energy security -- we need to get it done and get it right," the Arizona senator said.

GASP!: Everything is spinning out of control!

Chicken-LittleOh, my word! Chicken Little screams, "THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!" Give me a break!

The Associated Press has managed to publish the ultimate portent of doom. And of course, they've managed to work in global warming in a plethora of creative ways. Just see my highlights and links in their article below to see how far the fear-mongering press has come in programming you to BE AFRAID.

Be afraid...be VERY AFRAID! Make AP happy. Read other posts in the GASP! series and witness the media's fear-based approach to get you fired up about the global warming cult.

Everything seemingly is spinning out of control | AP:

Is everything spinning out of control? Midwestern levees are bursting. Polar bears are adrift. Gas prices are skyrocketing. Home values are abysmal. Air fares, college tuition and health care border on unaffordable. Wars without end rage in Iraq, Afghanistan and against terrorism.

***

Floods engulf Midwestern river towns. Is it global warming, the gradual degradation of a planet's weather that man seems powerless to stop or just a freakish late-spring deluge?

It hardly matters to those in the path. Just ask the people of New Orleans who survived Hurricane Katrina. They are living in a city where, 1,000 days after the storm, entire neighborhoods remain abandoned, a national embarrassment that evokes disbelief from visitors.

Food is becoming scarcer and more expensive on a worldwide scale, due to increased consumption in growing countries such as China and India and rising fuel costs. That can-do solution to energy needs — turning corn into fuel — is sapping fields of plenty once devoted to crops that people need to eat. Shortages have sparked riots. In the U.S., rice prices tripled and some stores rationed the staple.

Residents of the nation's capital and its suburbs repeatedly lose power for extended periods as mere thunderstorms rumble through. In California, leaders warn people to use less water in the unrelenting drought.

AGW or drill for oil? Drill DAMN IT!

Img 2617I guess there’s one positive to higher gas prices...it’s exposing how most Americans really feel about the manmade global warming/climate change cult.

Given the choice between “saving the planet” or reducing their own personal financial burdens, most sensible Americans see through the “Gullible Warming” sham and are thinking about their family’s tenuous financial place in the world.

Yes, you're seeing this article in the LA Times. That should say a lot right there!

Offshore oil drilling opponents are rethinking | LA Times:

WASHINGTON -- The environmental movement, only recently poised for major advances on global warming and other issues, has suddenly found itself on the defensive as high gasoline prices shift the political climate nationwide and trigger defections by longtime supporters.

Opposition to offshore drilling -- once ironclad in places like California and Florida -- has begun to soften. Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida on Tuesday eased his opposition to new energy exploration off the coast.

Spend $45 trillion to fight a hoax?

I guess these clim-idiots have a lot more energy than I do; it gets really hard to fight this huge propaganda machine. Folks, there is no manmade warming. Do you remember this past winter? Did you hear the Founder of Greenpeace? Have you sensed the absolute absurdity of all the ills assigned to global warming?

You must be aware that governments want more control over your lives. If you fear and then depend on them to alleviate that fear, you have just given them supreme power.

WAKE UP!

BTW, we should research and convert to other forms of energy, because an oil-based economy is a threat to our security and way of life. First, oil will eventually run out. Second, by purchasing foreign oil, we give too much power to despots who control so much of the world's oil.

Notice that at no time did I say we need alternative energy to fight "warming." Warming is baloney...it's nonsense...it's complete, utter BS!

The Associated Press: $45 trillion needed to combat warming:

A U.N.-network of scientists concluded last year that emissions have to be cut by at least half by 2050 to avoid an increase in world temperatures of between 3.6 and 4.2 degrees above pre-18th century levels.

Carbon ration cards coming to UK

Lol-3 LOL! I've tried telling you...this is socialism in environmental clothing...if there's even a difference. Capitalism must suffer to save the Earth--Bill Clinton said so himself! This is effectively a tax...it has the same effect.

If only global warming were real...but it isn't, so this is just more big-government garbage.

Every adult in Britain should be forced to carry 'carbon ration cards', say MPs | Mail Online:

Every adult should be forced to use a 'carbon ration card' when they pay for petrol, airline tickets or household energy, MPs say.

The influential Environmental Audit Committee says a personal carbon trading scheme is the best and fairest way of cutting Britain's CO2 emissions without penalising the poor.

Under the scheme, everyone would be given an annual carbon allowance to use when buying oil, gas, electricity and flights.

Airlines and "green" corporations

Environmentalism
The fruitcakes will miss the airlines when they're gone and no longer able to shuttle them around to their fruitcake climate speaking engagements (oh, that's right...Al Gore uses a private jet--silly me).

Fear not Airbus, all honest, capitalistic entities are under fire right now, because the fuel of capitalism is oil—plain and simple. Even Al Gore could understand that…uh, never mind. At any rate, all Airbus needs to do is just pretend to care, as other savvy corporations have done.

Many business board rooms have demonstrated smarts and recognize a government-backed, lunatic-supported boondoggle when they see it; they’ve constructed elaborate “green” campaigns to convince everyone—government and consumers—that they’re doing something to save the planet from global warming, which is nonsense. It’s very similar to the campaign by cigarette companies to convince consumers not to smoke; how ridiculous is that?

If one believes that fossil fuel use is warming the Earth (and IT IS NOT) then one must also believe that capitalism can’t exist in its current form, because no fuel or energy is efficient enough to drive the current world economy at the pace needed to continue growth and stave off recessions or depressions.

These “green corporations” are just riding the profiteering wave like everyone else; as I said—manmade climate change equals BOONDOGGLE, and liberals and conservatives are signing on to the BS network. You can play along and rake in some bucks, or you can resist the stupidity like me and be dragged before the new McCarthy hearings—this time for a love of capitalism, not communism.

Airbus boss says aviation unfairly targeted over climate change:

The aviation industry is being unfairly targeted over climate change and future reductions in aircraft emissions should be based on technological innovation rather than regulation, Airbus chief Tom Enders said Wednesday.

"We think it's a little bit unfair that the aviation sector is singled out for attack by many environmental groups, maybe because we are more visible than other groups," Enders told a media briefing in Auckland.

Bush, Gingrich taking up climate change scepter

Change course? Bush has always backed this stupid BS. He’s proving he’s as dumb as his political enemies have claimed. Or maybe he’s really smart and is planning to jump on the profit bandwagon. I saw a commercial the other day with Newt Gingrich backing this tripe (with Nancy Pelosi) and almost swallowed my tongue!

Bush prepares global warming initiative - - Breaking News, Political News & National Security News - The Washington Times:

President Bush is poised to change course and announce as early as this week that he wants Congress to pass a bill to combat global warming, and will lay out principles for what that should include.

Specifics of the policy are still being fiercely debated, but Bush administration officials have told Republicans in Congress that they feel pressure to act now because they fear a coming regulatory nightmare. It would be the first time Mr. Bush has called for statutory authority on the subject.

We've seen how GWB has proven he's on the profiteering bandwagon, when it comes to this climate alarmism nonsense. Now, he's proving that he can still beat Al Gore, even at his own scam.

FOXNews.com - Junk Science: Bush Beats Gore on Climate? - Opinion:

In the very same week that Gore launched a $300 million public relations campaign to convince Americans that "together we can solve the climate crisis," prominent climate alarmist Tom Wigley essentially endorsed President Bush’s approach to global warming while criticizing that of Gore’s co-Nobelist, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC.

In an article entitled "Dangerous Assumptions" published in Nature on April 3, Wigley writes that the technology challenge presented by the goal of stabilizing atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations "has been seriously underestimated by the IPCC, diverting attention from policies that could directly stimulate technological innovation."

Wigley, even though he is a lead author of the most recent IPCC report, describes that document as relying on "unrealistic" and "unachievable" CO2 emissions scenarios — even for the present decade. For the period 2000-2010, the IPCC assumes that energy and fossil fuel efficiency is increasing.

Scrutiny is happening

Meteorologists still can’t even accurately predict the basic weather five days in advance right now, but yet we’re going to listen to politically-connected “scientists” who predict we’ll be swimming with the fishes in 50 to 100 years because of man’s activities and believe them? Give me A FREAKIN’ BREAK! This doesn’t even pass the moron test; never mind all the problems with the faulty science and math behind this farce that has become AGW.

Climate panel on the hot seat - The Washington Times:

In a 2001 report, the IPCC published an image commonly referred to as the "hockey stick." This graph showed relatively stable temperatures from A.D. 1000 to 1900, with temperatures rising steeply from 1900 to 2000. The IPCC and public figures, such as former Vice President Al Gore, have used the hockey stick to support the conclusion that human energy use over the last 100 years has caused unprecedented rise global warming.

However, several studies cast doubt on the accuracy of the hockey stick, and in 2006 Congress requested an independent analysis of it. A panel of statisticians chaired by Edward J. Wegman, of George Mason University, found significant problems with the methods of statistical analysis used by the researchers and with the IPCC's peer review process. For example, the researchers who created the hockey stick used the wrong time scale to establish the mean temperature to compare with recorded temperatures of the last century. Because the mean temperature was low, the recent temperature rise seemed unusual and dramatic. This error was not discovered in part because statisticians were never consulted.

And more media scrutiny from the great Steven Milloy at junkscience.com.

FOXNews.com - Junk Science: The Washington Post-er Child for Climate Bias - Opinion:

Eilperin’s March 10 article (WaPo) entitled "Carbon Output Must Near Zero to Avert Danger, New Studies Say" has the same sort of journalistic objectivity one might expect from totalitarian state-controlled media.

With nary a critical word about the computer models used to project increases in global temperature, Eilperin touted two new model-dependent studies that "suggest that both industrialized and developing nations must wean themselves off fossil fuels by as early as mid-century in order to prevent warming that could change precipitation patterns and dry up sources of water worldwide."

So why would any rational person assume that they can be used to predict future climate or serve as a basis for developing national energy policy? As reported in this column last December, global climate models uniformly predict significantly warmer atmospheric temperatures than have actually occurred.

Hypocrisy in action: elitist air travel

200Px-Aair

Want to see global warming hypocrisy in action? Peter W. Tilton, a young editor at The Harvard Crimson, recently had some great insights:

The Harvard Crimson :: Opinion :: Gore and “Green” Goonies:

The leading spokesperson of today’s enviro-chic celebrities is Al Gore, whose face is everywhere from his award winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth to Norway where he recently received the Nobel Peace Prize. Many Americans would naturally assume Gore follows the green lifestyle he widely promotes, and they would be wrong. Gore and his wife Tipper, whose children all live elsewhere, reside in a behemoth 20-room mansion outside of Nashville that used nearly 23,000 kilowatt-hours last August, more than twice the annual—yes, annual—energy usage of a typical American home. Gore’s preferred mode of transportation between stops on his international publicity tour is his private jet, which spews out CO2 emissions at the rate of a small army of SUVs.
Hypocritical enviro-advocates abound these days, constantly reminding us to make sacrifices in the interest of the earth while forgoing few comforts themselves. Green activist and actor John Travolta likes to spend his free time toying around in one of his five private planes, including a commercial Boeing 707, racking up 800 tons of carbon emissions in the last year. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has managed to promote his idea of an environmentally friendly lifestyle by creating a hydrogen-fueled Hummer—a car that gets a whopping 10-15 miles per gallon—while crisscrossing the country in his private jet. Last year, former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (D-Il.) gave a speech in Washington D.C. emphasizing the need to drive more fuel-efficient cars before hopping into his own hybrid car. Several blocks away, he was caught switching from his environmentally friendly ride into a gas-guzzling SUV.
Al Gore can fly all over the world in a private jet, charging $20K to give his global warming PowerPoint presentation to suckers everywhere. What does the Gore-Christ get? Praise, awards, and undeserved recognition.

However, if a U.S. business flies five people to the U.K., there's going to be hell to pay!

Plane flies five passengers from US to London - Telegraph:

A major airline is under fire from environmentalists for flying an aircraft across the Atlantic with only five passengers on board.

The flight from Chicago to London meant that the plane, a Boeing 777, used 22,000 gallons of fuel.

Friends of the Earth said it was 'obscene' to waste so much fuel flying an almost empty plane. It led to American Airlines being accused of reckless behaviour by green lobby groups.

Let's not forget Gov. Schwarzenegger, the environmentalist Republican hypocrite. When you buy carbon credits, you're golden.

Opinion - Editorial: Air Schwarzenegger - sacbee.com:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who once joked that Sacramento was "death," apparently doesn't want to spend many nights in the graveyard.

As the Los Angeles Times reported last week, the governor has been spending nearly every night in his Brentwood mansion, shuttling between Sacramento and Southern California in his private jet.

The governor uses his own money to pay for his Gulfstream flights, which price out at about $10,000 an hour, the Times reports.

And what about the cost to the environment? The governor's staff says he purchases "carbon credits."

Wind energy threatened by cold weather

Windfarm
Loss of wind causes Texas power grid emergency| U.S.| Reuters:

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A drop in wind generation late on Tuesday, coupled with colder weather, triggered an electric emergency that caused the Texas grid operator to cut service to some large customers, the grid agency said on Wednesday.
What's interesting about this? Cold weather and a lack of wind kills TX wind energy farms, which are supposed to provide alternative energy to fossil fuels, because they help feed global warming. Does anyone else see the irony here?
