Contrast this article with the one a few days ago. What does that tell you? What side does the media take with regard to environmental taxation?

I keep wondering when the world will wake up and call this scam for what it is, but there are apparently enough sheep grazing out there to allow the lefty-enviro-politicians of the world to milk every last cent out of ‘global warming.’

These taxes (your money)—just like cigarette taxes that were going to be used to pay for smoking-related health costs but weren’t—will not be used to fight CO2, a natural, necessary gas for life (not a pollutant). Oh yes, cigarette taxes were also going to discourage smoking while also paying for healthcare? If people stopped smoking because of the taxes then where would the tax revenue come from to pay for the healthcare? No one stopped smoking because of the taxes. These taxes had nothing to do with the reasoning claimed.

The revenue from this silly fuel tax will go to some government program that will have no worth other than giving its staff members a permanent job. That job will morph into something else, once the green fad and global warming are tossed into the dustbin of history. Since there's already no global warming, the politicians can claim that their tax "fixed it." Neat scam, huh?

Swedish government to raise fuel taxes to cut greenhouse gases

Until voters in free countries stand up to this tomfoolery, they’ll continue to tell us that they’re saving us by raising our taxes. Come on people! Don’t you see this for what it is??!

Stockholm - Higher taxes on vehicles and fuel are in store for Swedish motorists, transport companies and industry as part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the government said Tuesday. Finance Minister Anders Borg, Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren and Enterprise Minister Maud Olofsson said in a joint statement that the measures would take the current financial slump into account.

As of 2011 taxes on diesel fuel were to be raised in two stages by 0.40 kronor (0.04 dollars), as would taxes on carbon-dioxide emissions while the forestry and agriculture sectors would be included in emissions trading schemes.

The measures that included taxes on heating were part of a pending bill on energy and enviroment, and the goal was to cut greenhouse gas emissions by a further 2 million tons by 2020.

"A price tag on climate changing emissions underlines that emissions carry a cost that have to be paid," Carlgren said.

Gas Tax Cuts = More Global Warming

They will continue to ignore reality and play up this BS because it’s politically expedient. Don’t look for anyone in the Obama Administration to admit the truth, even if the mainstream scientific world has bent some and, though not fully willing to let go of the lie just yet, has said that AGW is ‘on pause.’

US Treasury secretary attacks oil, gas tax breaks

WASHINGTON, March 4 (Reuters) - U.S. oil and natural gas producing companies should not receive federal subsidies in the form of tax breaks because their businesses contribute to global warming, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told Congress on Wednesday.

It was one of the sharpest attacks yet on the oil and gas industry by a top Obama administration official, reinforcing the White House stance that new U.S. energy policy will focus on promoting renewable energy sources like wind and solar power and rely less on traditional fossil fuels like oil as America tackles climate change.

Republican nominee-elect John McCain Tuesday vowed to combat global warming without sacrificing economic growth, contradicting President George W. Bush on the need for binding emissions cuts.

Unlike Bush, McCain pressed for mandatory cuts in emissions of warming gases as he spoke at a California event alongside Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who opposes the White House hopeful's call for offshore oil drilling.

McCain said lifting a federal ban on coastal drilling may not bring down sky-high fuel prices for "some years," but could have a psychological impact as the United States takes greater control over its energy future.

"Nothing is more urgent right now than regaining our energy security -- we need to get it done and get it right," the Arizona senator said.

That can-do solution to energy needs — turning corn into fuel — is sapping fields of plenty once devoted to crops that people need to eat. Shortages have sparked riots. In the U.S., rice prices tripled and some stores rationed the staple.

Residents of the nation's capital and its suburbs repeatedly lose power for extended periods as mere thunderstorms rumble through. In California, leaders warn people to use less water in the unrelenting drought.

Global warming bill is done - for now

I guess there is one benefit of higher gas prices...it prevents Democrats and liberals from creating a revolutionary mindset in the public, which is what would happen if gas prices were driven even higher by stupid, worthless environmentalist bullcrap.

With little chance of winning passage of a sweeping 500-page global warming bill, the Senate Democratic leadership is planning to yank the legislation after failing to achieve the 60 vote threshold needed to move the bill to the next stage. After a 48-36 vote on the climate change bill, the Senate is likely to move on to an energy debate next week.

The legislation collapsed for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was the poor timing of debating a bill predicted to increase energy costs while much of the country is focused on $4 a gallon gas. On top of that, a number of industrial state Democrats like Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio were uncomfortable with the strong emissions caps that would have created a new regime of regulations for coal, auto and other manufacturing industries. Republicans, for the most part, held firm against a bill they said would cost billions in regulations while pushing the cost of gas higher. Seven Republicans, mostly moderates, voted for the procedural motion on the legislation while four Democrats voted against it.

Worried about gas prices hitting $4 a gallon and beyond? Imagine if they were $6, $7 or even $8 a gallon. Those levels are a certain possibility should Congress pass cap-and-trade legislation, which could face a vote in early June.

Inhofe spoke at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on May 15 to introduce the “We Get It!” campaign – a program founded by evangelical Christians that question the merits of global warming alarmism. According to Inhofe, the bill will make it to the floor of the Senate on June 2.

Clinton: Ignore experts when I say so

This is quite telling; I wonder if anyone else will pick up on it. Here we have an avowed believer in global warming alarmism, a theory which stands only on the authority of "consensus" experts--elites, if you will. Mrs. Clinton should be well acquainted with the subject of elitism, since she happens to be a Jedi Master of said subject.

Now, when it's politically expedient, she urges the media to discount what the experts say and embrace the opinions and desires of "average folk." The implication is that the citizenry knows better than any expert economist when it comes to lowering gas prices.

I actually agree with her on this in some respects (gas taxes stink and drive up the costs for us all), but I especially agree when applying her same standard of elitist-dismissal to global warming theory. People aren't stupid. You can tell them there's human-induced global warming until you're blue in the face (based on the fact that you’re smarter than they are and know better), but empirical evidence (never mind all the scientific evidence we’ve seen from other experts) means a lot to the average citizen. People are aware of the harsh winter we just had; they’re not dumbbells.

Clinton discounts economists in gas tax debate

Pressed to name an economist who supports her plan to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said today that commuters, truck drivers and other gas customers know it would make a difference.

“We have to get out of the mindset where somehow elite opinion is always on the side of doing things that really disadvantage the vast majority of Americans,” Clinton said during an appearance on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. “I’m not going to put my lot in with economists because I know if we did it right ... we would design it in such a way that it would be implemented effectively.”

Carbon profiteering, scientific intimidation, and U.S. history

Why is a flawed theory (that has been so thoroughly debunked that it's not funny) still so widely accepted and espoused by media and politicians alike? Follow the dollars, my friend. Dollars for research grants and dollars for carbon credits (including credits from Gore's own company--that he buys from himself) and other emerging climate technologies (such as biofuels) spell big money for everyone except you common sheep out there.

The Boston "Massacre" and resulting outrage from the inflamed, biased media coverage in the form of Paul Revere's engraving was the major impetus behind stirring popular dissent and starting the Revolutionary War! Don't think the media doesn't still do these things! Don't think our leaders, regardless of party, are no longer elites and out for their own best interests! Your interests only become their interests when popular opinion threatens their hold on power (and thus wealth).

LONDON (Reuters) - The British-based investment firm Canopy Capital said on Thursday it had bought a share in the rain-making potential of a chunk of Guyanan rainforest bigger than the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.

The move is a novel twist in an investor frenzy to make money from the prospect of climate change that has also seen businesses snap up permits to emit greenhouse gases and invest in low carbon-emitting technologies.

Need more proof? Here's where two countries are trying to find cheaper "wiggle room" with regard to carbon credits, but you can bet Al Gore and company aren't going to stand by and let that happen. Carbon credits that are cheap would cut into their profits!

RIA Novosti - World - Saudi Arabia covered with snow in coldest winter for 20 years:

ABU DHABI, January 11 (RIA Novosti) - Northern parts of Saudi Arabia are covered with snow with schools, mosques and administrative bodies paralyzed, local media reported Friday.

The oil-rich kingdom is being hit with subzero temperatures and snow storms with freezing winds of up to 50 km/h (30mp/h). Some regions have been experiencing problems with water supplies as pipes have frozen, and livestock has died from the cold.

The Saudi Gazette reported late in December that the winter was expected to last 89 days, with temperatures reaching below zero. National media said the winter is the coldest in the country for 20 years.

Meanwhile, the traditional western media keeps up the drumbeat that fits their template. There's a problem with the story below; they say "scientists" as if all scientists on earth agree, which is far from the case.

Permafrost — earth that remains frozen year-round — lies under much of Siberia but scientists fear that global warming will cause it to melt and could accelerate climate change by releasing large amounts of warming carbon dioxide gases into the atmosphere.

A Virgin Atlantic jumbo jet flew from London to Amsterdam with one of its fuel tanks filled with a bio-jet blend including babassu oil and coconut oil.

"Today marks a vital breakthrough for the whole airline industry," Virgin founder Richard Branson told reporters in a hangar at Heathrow airport prior to the flight's departure.

British billionaire Branson said, however, it was unlikely the nut of the wild growing babassu palm would play a key role as airlines turn to renewable fuel sources to cut the industry's greenhouse gas emissions.

"We did not want to use biofuels such as corn oil which were competing with staple food sources," he said, adding he believed algae produced in places like sewage treatment farms were the most likely future source of renewable fuel for the airline industry.

Biofuels, which are currently mainly produced from crops such as grain, vegetable oils and sugar, are seen by advocates as a way to cut emissions of greenhouse gases and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Warming myth causing wheat and corn prices to skyrocket

Remember, the need for "biofuels" is bogus. Carbon is not heating up the Earth, but somehow ethanol has become a panacea for all this media-created hysteria. Of course, the "solution" comes at a price, for wheat is being circumvented for corn, which is used to produce ethanol. Both wheat and corn are food staples--especially for the poor of the world. Now both cost a lot more because of the stupid BS that is "man-made climate change."

So just remember, you bunch of liberal psychos...you're making it harder for the poor to eat.

ABC: 'Blame' Inflation on the 'Price of Wheat':

“World News with Charles Gibson” explained on February 20 that biofuels are driving up food prices, which is driving up inflation. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a key inflation reading, rose 0.4 percent in January according to the Labor Department, matching December’s rise.

“Blame it on the price of wheat,” said ABC correspondent Sharon Alfonsi. “Demand for alternative energy has farmers planting less wheat and more corn – the key ingredient of ethanol. Add the growing appetite for wheat from developing countries and the supply is strained.

Ethanol increasing, not helping, warming?

LOL! You've got to love it. Here's the scoop...there's no solution folks. We can't turn to nuclear power, ethanol, more oil, wind power, etc. to drive our economic energy needs. All of those are either worse than the oft vilified carbon gases or not efficient enough. P.S. Before you decide you hate carbon so much, please remember that, apart from water, it's an abundant, necessary ingredient inside your body. It's a necessary commodity for our atmosphere (to supply plants with nourishment and to keep our asses from freezing to death).

Also, remember that the bigger greenhouse gases (those that are far more abundant in our atmosphere) are water vapor and methane. No one ever talks about these gases, but if you believe that greenhouse gases heat up the earth to the point of killing us all, then you need to point a finger at those which are present in far greater quantities than the CO2 we're giving off because of modern life.
