U.N.'s Participation in Earth Hour Is Full of Hot Air, Critics Say

In what it's calling a "vote for the future of planet Earth," the World Wildlife Fund wants every light in the world to go dark for one hour on Saturday as a symbolic gesture to call for action on climate change.

It's called Earth Hour — and among the places where the lights will go out are the Eiffel Tower, the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing, the Pyramids of Giza and Niagara Falls.

And, for the first time in the event's three-year existence, the New York headquarters of the United Nations will also go dark, a move officials say will save $102, a figure that fluctuated wildly from its whopping initial estimate of $81,000 when requested from U.N. officials. After the story appeared on FOXNews.com, a spokeswoman called back to say their estimate was incorrect and the savings was $24,000, but then called back a third time to say it was really $102.

Earth Hour — 8:30 to 9:30 p.m in every time zone on the planet — promises to be “the largest demonstration of public concern about climate change ever attempted," U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said earlier this month.

Restaurant drive-throughs cause global warming!

This is it folks; we are beginning to see the slippery slope of global warming solutions, from goofy light bulbs to insect-only diets. I've discussed before that manmade climate change alarmists (the media, certain politicians, and some politically-connected scientists) were employing an 'indoctrination duality'; first, using fear to inspire us to demand government action to halt global warming, and second, by unceasingly listing the "horrible" results of man's climate transgressions. The ever-growing list of nasty AGW consequences are quite funny to read; merely glancing over the lengthy page of article links will quickly illustrate to any normal, thinking person the scope of the media's ludicrous propaganda campaign. In reality, I should have called the media's tactics an "indoctrination trinity," because the third aspect of the their consistent misinformation crusade involves publishing imagined solutions to global warming. Really simple stuff-get rid of the causes and you have your solution to the fear and their 'education' will have worked! And it also works in reverse: If you're using the fancy new global warming dumbass light bulbs then you are helping to eliminate global warming, because old-fashioned Edison-type bulbs set the Earth ablaze.

Here, we see that restaurant drive-throughs-yes, you read that right-are helping to CAUSE nonexistent global warming, so the SOLUTION is to nix restaurant drive-throughs, a staple of American capitalism for decades. I guess the theory is that idling cars are bad, so we should probably get rid of traffic lights too. Maybe their real goal is to cut down on fatty food consumption--a liberal crusade for some time. Yes, I know you fruitcakes out there right now are yelling that it's all about increased CO2--all of these human activities increase CO2. But see...it's not about CO2. Rising CO2 levels DO NOT MIRROR temperature levels (as originally portrayed by alarmists), because temperatures have fallen since 1998 (and fell sharply in 2007-08). Notice that all solutions to global warming-which is complete BS, by the way-involve destroying or limiting some vestige of capitalism (the fuel of capitalism is currently petrol). Don't believe me? Bill Clinton himself said we need to slow down our economy to fight global warming (looks like he's getting his wish with these ridiculous oil prices).

I've discussed this at length; the global warming cult is merely a resurgence of classic socialism in the guise of trying to nobly save the planet. When no scientific debate is allowed because Al Gore-a really smart scientist (NOT!)-proclaims the time for debate to be over, we are heading toward socialism at around Mach 4!

We can eat all the bugs we want. We can use retarded, unpleasant corkscrew light bulbs. We can try to hold our breath to emit less CO2. We can modify the diets of cows to make them fart less, or we can make PETA happy too by just refusing to eat beef. We can all ride bicycles to work. We can plant, hug, and make love to trees. We can use only three sheets of toilet paper (and make Sheryl Crow jump for liberal joy). We can use every last stalk of corn to make biofuel (to hell with those hungry, poor people). We can all avoid using airlines and definitely avoid drive-throughs. We can do whatever these "really smart people" (who know way better than you or I how to save our dumbasses) say to do. And do you know what? It still will not make a bit of difference; the Earth laughs at our pathetic, arrogant attempts to modify its climate, either by accident or on-purpose. The Earth will go on warming and cooling, long after we're extinct.

Just so you know, not everyone is marching in step like a zombie. Dr. Douglass at the University of Rochester is pointing out some "inconvenient truths," and Steven Milloy of junkscience.com made some great points about a subject that global warming alarmists hate to discuss--the sun and it's role in heating and cooling the Earth.

"Can the models accurately explain the climate from the recent past? It seems that the answer is no," said lead study author David H. Douglass, a physicist specializing in climate at the University of Rochester.

A recent study from the Journal of Geophysical Research (November 2007) reports that the sun may have contributed 50 percent or more of the global warming thought to have occurred since 1900.

Researchers from Duke University and the U.S. Army Research Office report that climate appears to be insensitive to solar variation if you accept the global temperature trend for the past 1,000 years as represented by the so-called “hockey stick” graph — which claims to show essentially unchanging temperatures between from 1000 to 1900 and then a sharp uptick from 1900 to the present. But the hockey stick-graph has been relegated to the ash heap of global warming history.

So this story appears again and again, almost month after month, like some demented mantra the media must chant to convince you of impending doom.

Please note something important they give away in the beginning of the article, figuring you’re too dumb to see the importance of it. Satellite Arctic ice measurements started in 1978! That’s 30 freakin’ years ago, folks! Now, get out your calculator and divide 4.5 Billion (Earth’s estimated age) by 30—the number of years they’ve apparently measured Arctic ice accurately (assuming they look at it on some semi-regular, recurring basis). You’re left with the number of years that they HAVE NOT MEASURED THE ICE: 150,000,000 separate periods of 30 years. Do you realize what a statistically flawed sample that is?
They haven’t accounted for 4,499,999,970 years at the North Pole!! And how often are they taking measurements? Each decade? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly? And didn’t they first start measuring the ice because it was presumed Arctic ice was GROWING in the 1970s, when Newsweek and other rags proclaimed we were threatened with a new “ice age”? If it GREW then (during a coming “ice age”) any retreat over the past 3 decades could just be a leveling-off or a return closer to a true baseline. Please don’t be a dolt, and don’t fall for these continual, unrelenting scare tactics.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Arctic ice is melting fast and the area covered by ice sheets in ocean could shrink this summer to the smallest since 1978 when satellite observation first started, Japanese scientists warned in a report.

Notice certain words below in the article on Dr. Molina's "prestigious research" and pontification. We see ALARM, WARNING, IRREVERSIBLE CONSEQUENCES, and WORRISOME. The term Nobel no longer has much weight with me, since they gave one to Al Gore--a complete dufus. This article is a stereotypical climate fear piece, designed to influence the sheep among us for political reasons.

Now, let's look at all the B.S. stuffed into the article; I've already debunked many of these subjects in previous posts, but let's take each one-by-one. First, is the Earth warming? No, it isn't and hasn't since 1998; as a matter of fact, the temperature this past winter failed to meet warming predictions and instead plummeted.

Next, the changes in climate we see are a result of human activities--namely, CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. We've seen how the temperature graph of the past 10 years has not mirrored the CO2 graph, which was previously espoused as proof of manmade warming. If CO2 drives warming then we should not have had plateaued and then reduced warming over the past 10 years (especially the precipitous drop this past winter).

Finally, Dr. Molina really shows his true alarmist tendencies by broaching the subject of hurricanes. NOAA has already debunked the connection to stronger hurricanes and "manmade warming," and if the Earth is still warming (which it isn't) then we should have seen stronger storms than 2005's Katrina over the past few years, even with the oft-used La Nina and El Nino excuses to revise failed climate and hurricane predictions. Heck, 1998 should have brought the worst hurricanes with the "spike" in warming, and it failed to do so.

Note that the consequences mentioned below are "ALMOST" irreversible. That means that "really smart" scientists and politicians can still save your dumb butt from your love of capitalism, which is fed by oil.

MIAMI (Reuters) - The Nobel Prize-winning scientist who rang the first alarm bells over the ozone hole issued a warming about climate change on Saturday, saying there could be "almost irreversible consequences" if the Earth warmed 2.5 degrees Celsius (4.5 degrees F) above what it ought to be.

"Things are changing and there's no doubt that it's as a result of human activities," said Mario Molina, a Mexican who shared a Nobel prize in chemistry in 1995 for groundbreaking work on chlorofluorocarbon gases and their threat to the Earth's ozone layer.

"Long before we run out of oil, we will run out of atmosphere," he said.

Molina told a panel discussion on climate change at an annual Inter-American Development Bank meeting in Miami that the increasing intensity of hurricanes was among the worrisome changes that scientists had linked to a rapid global warming trend over the past 30 years.

Global temps to DECREASE??!!

La Nina is believed by some to have caused this year’s drastic cooling, but this also means one must accept that 1998’s considerable warming (baseline assumed correct) was artificially spiked by El Nino (not AGW). I’m personally not convinced by either “La Nina” or “El Nino.” These unruly siblings of Pacific water temperature antagonism have almost become revisionist excuses to backtrack on failed climate and weather predictions, like the recent “awful hurricane seasons” that failed to materialize (i.e., global warming is being offset by La Nina, and thus, weaker hurricanes). And let’s not forget the failed prediction about the temperature this winter (it was going to be REALLY WARM), remember? And if 1998 has been the warmest, why didn’t we have the “worst” hurricanes that year (instead of the horrible 2005)?

Okay, so they’re reluctantly admitting that global warming ended 10 YEARS AGO! Are you zombie-sheep out there getting that message, which certain groups (media, political elements, scientists with agendas, etc.) are trying desperately to frame in antithetical verbiage (such as espoused throughout most of the article below) that holds on to the global warming farce?

Now, here in this article is another prediction from a so-called “expert.” His prediction is that after La Nina is over, our global temperature will rise back up and surpass 1998’s high; again, that’s if you believe the baseline that marks 1998 as the year containing the highest global mean temperature. So, let’s keep this prediction in mind as we watch time go by. What will you believers do when this prediction fails as so many others have?

Will it be like Al Gore’s prediction that we’re doomed within 10 years due to AGW (prediction issued in January 2006)? Will it be like any of the countless other doomsday predictions, or even the recent one from the British Chicken Little? Will it be like the prediction that (after Katrina) we were going to have stronger and stronger cyclones due to global warming (which didn’t happen and has sense been discounted)?

Or could it be that all this global warming nonsense has been taking us all for a giant BS ride? Time and truth will cast their verdict. I believe they have already cast their verdict. The temperature HAS NOT surpassed the so-called “high” of 1998 in 10 years; this past year we had a record-shattering winter season, and global temperatures plummeted well below the mean (again, if you believe their baseline—which they just want us to blindly accept as completely unflawed).

This would mean that temperatures have not risen globally since 1998 when El Nino warmed the world.

A minority of scientists question whether this means global warming has peaked and argue the Earth has proved more resilient to greenhouse gases than predicted.

But Mr Jarraud insisted this was not the case and noted that 2008 temperatures would still be well above average for the century.

"When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year," he said. "You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming.

Mr Scaife told the BBC: "What's happened now is that La Nina has come along and depressed temperatures slightly but these changes are very small compared to the long-term climate change signal, and in a few years time we are confident that the current record temperature of 1998 will be beaten when the La Nina has ended."

Earth Hour…it was supposed to eliminate tons and tons of carbon in the atmosphere. It was a statement made by the environmentally-minded among us that they were going to make a stand!

In reality, contrary to the press reports otherwise, it was nothing and did nothing; it was a sham just like AGW itself. Symbolic garbage like this make these fruitcakes feel better about themselves, however.

Throw this one in the stupid bin along with the mercury-tainted light bulb. Guess who didn't dim their lights? My house! And my city seemed as bright as usual. Isn't this sort of like that stupid myth that if everyone refuses to buy gas from Texaco for one day that they'll have to drop the price??!! GEEZ!

Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud

Here's one that was never reported anywhere really, except FOX News. This fact proves the story's level of devastation. Heidi Cullen, alarm-o-scientist extraordinaire at The Weather Channel, gets more attention than this guy? John Coleman, first weatherman of ABC's Good Morning America, created The Weather Channel! Should we give him a little attention or credence? Or should we follow Cullen's advice and pull his accreditation for daring to question AGW? Coleman recently called manmade global warming the "greatest scam in history."

He's being ignored because they want his level-headedness to go away. Remember? No debate allowed! Especially in a highly visible forum like a court case that the media will be FORCED to cover.

We can't start swaying the hypnotized believers now...we've got 50% of the public convinced that AGW is real so far! The grant money is coming in for additional research; people are buying stupid, mercury-tainted light bulbs; the U.N. keeps exclaiming doom each year (even though the temperatures have gone down); and people are close to accepting more government control worldwide to solve "the manmade problem."

Is Al Gore committing fraud with his carbon credit company (where he buys credits from himself to offset his own gluttonous energy use)? The answer there is a big ol' YES! Let's not forget the fraud of his film, his Nobel Prize fraud, and the Oscar fraud (which really isn't fraud considering from where that came). Remember, solutions to global warming WILL NOT HURT RICH ELITES like Al Gore; the poor and middle classes of the world will bear the price and tax burden to solve this nonexistent problem. We're already seeing it with the price of food.

A previous story highlighted the misguided effort to preserve plant species in the face of manmade climate change. Remember? We are supposedly acting in a way that is causing the Earth to rapidly heat up and croak a crispy death.

However, in the same week we see this gem that tells us the Sun is slowly expanding and will eventually boil off our oceans. Do you mean to say the Sun produces heat that can affect life on Earth???!!! No way! We humans are obviously much more critical to the natural order on Earth than any silly old star.

Relax. We have a billion years before this happens, but like all scientific predictions of this nature (including global warming), I wouldn't get too excited about it.

Here's another thought. In the Earth's 4.5 billion year history, we've had several "doomsdays" that have obliterated species, but the natural order always reestablishes life. See? They've got it all figured out. Even though we've had a bitter-assed cold, record-setting winter so far, the media wants you to remember--it's going to be hot this summer!

The global surface temperature in 2008 will rise 0.67 degrees above what climate scientists call the long-term average of 57.2 degrees, the Met Office said. The average is derived by calculating the mean of surface temperatures registered globally between 1961 and 1990.

Here's something else that should concern you. Alarmist scientists are basing their predictions on an average derived between 1961 and 1990 (roughly 30 years). The Earth is believed to be 4.5 billion years old (4,500,000,000). If you do the math, we're basing our average temperature on a range that is .000000006 % of the Earth's total estimated age (if you divide 4.5 billion by 30 you get 150 millions similar periods that were NEVER MEASURED). That's a lot of lost time in the Earth's history to ignore when you're telling the world that our awful, modern existence is killing the Earth.

I hope statisticians are freaking out when they read that. In other words, our "average" (measured over 30 years) DOES NOT accurately represent the average over the Earth's history, and that doesn't even address the problems associated with the actual temperature measurements since 1961. There are all sorts of scientific problems associated with this "theory."
