Thulsa Doom Obama Halts Own Smog Rules

Looks like Obama wants to get re-elected now, plain and simple. I don't think that's happening, however. You've done far too much damage to the country with your liberal, elitist, Marx-loving social experimentation. That ivory tower academic shit doesn't work in real life.

Furthermore, how can he "overrule" an organization that was just acting on his direction in the first place? It's obvious the EPA was being used to shield him from criticism over the stupid global warming moves he was throwing onto our economy.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Friday scrapped his administration's controversial plans to tighten smog rules, bowing to the demands of congressional Republicans and some business leaders.

Obama overruled the Environmental Protection Agency — and the unanimous opinion of its independent panel of scientific advisers — and directed administrator Lisa Jackson to withdraw the proposed regulation to reduce concentrations of ground-level ozone, smog's main ingredient. The decision rests in part on reducing regulatory burdens and uncertainty for businesses at a time of rampant uncertainty about an unsteady economy.

Did CA Reverse Course on Crap-&-Tax?

No clue if California passed this or not, but I hope they reversed course. If they passed it then they give me hope that their state is not entirely stupid.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- If California were a country, it would be the world's 19th largest polluter. Recognizing that, a few years ago lawmakers here passed AB 32, a first in the nation 'cap and trade' type anti-global warming bill.

But come Tuesday, voters here have the opportunity to turn back the clock. Proposition 23 would stop the state's "Global Warming Solutions Act' from taking effect in January.

Proposition 23 would put a hold on the new emission standards until the state's unemployment rate drops to 5.5 percent or less for an entire year. The last time that occured was in the 1970s.

New Term: Gore-pocrite

Al Gore has been caught in hypocritical climate behavior so many times now that he deserves a new term: Gore-pocrite!

Recently, Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore toured again. Or maybe he does that all the time. This time, he turned up in Gothenburg (Sweden) for the usual alarmist talk. In advance, all distinguished guests were politely advised to – if possible – use any form of public transportation to go to the event, in order to minimize CO2 emissions.

Intriguingly, the Master of World Climate himself arrived in a rental car (with or without driver is unclear), from the airport, and subsequently left the engine running for the entire lecture. That is to say, about one hour. Incidentally, local legislation prohibits – for very good environmental reasons, i e pollution – any car engine running on empty for more than 60 seconds. Fines are severe. As far as I know, he was not fined.

It starts to form a pattern.

Scientist: Plants NEED CO2 - DUH!!!

Amazing how no moron liberal has figured this out yet. They are, after all, the so-called 'smartest' among us. Well, they're always smart until they let their leftist politics taint their reasoning.

CO2 IS NOT A POLLUTANT. More trees and plants will require MORE CO2!!!

Carbon dioxide emissions are good for Earth and don't cause global warming, a noted geologist and best-selling author is warning Congress

Leighton Steward, author of "Fire, Ice and Paradise," is storming Capitol Hill to convince senators that a cap-and-trade energy bill could harm the environment by reducing the Earth's CO2 levels, according to U.S. News & World Report.

"I'm trying to kill the whole thing," he said. "We are tilting at windmills."

Steward, member of a nonprofit group called Plants Need CO2, plans to meet with several lawmakers this week.

Proponents of the global warming debate claim the planet is warming due to greenhouse gases produced primarily from fossil fuels.

Pollution Helps Global Warming?!?

Well, this is a new one. Pollution helps global warming? I thought CO2 is NOW considered pollution and causes global warming! I’m sure this little bit of news will be promptly buried or ignored by the “Green Media.”

Air pollution helps plants blunt climate change: study

Cleaning up skies choked with smog and soot would sharply curtail the capacity of plants to absorb carbon dioxide and blunt global warming, according to a study released on Wednesday.

Plant life -- especially tropical forests -- soak up a quarter of all the CO2 humans spew into the atmosphere, and thus plays a critical role in keeping climate change in check.

Through photosynthesis, vegetation transforms sunlight, CO2 and water into sugar nutrients.

Common sense would suggest that air pollution in the form of microscopic particles that obstruct the Sun's rays -- a phenomenon called "global dimming" -- would hamper this process, but the new study shows the opposite is true.

During April Winter Storms, EPA Moves To “Halt Warming”

The looney tunes at the EPA are pressing ahead with their Draconian, anti-capitalist measures, and because of the Democrat-Obama takeover that recently occurred in our government, there doesn’t appear to be much standing in their way of succeeding.

Remember, prominent liberals of all persuasions went on record in the media within the last year stating that we had to cool our economy to fight global warming (look at previous posts about Clinton, Prince Charles, and Geithner). They got their wish, and no media outlet is doing their job and asking the tough follow-up questions: Are you pleased that the economy is now in the toilet?

This EPA-liberal alliance to regulate poot gases will only harm the economy further—not strengthen it. And they’ve told us that this is what they want.

EPA moves toward climate change regulations

WASHINGTON — In a major reversal of years of government policy, the Environmental Protection Agency on Friday proposed regulating greenhouse-gas emissions to combat global warming.

"In both magnitude and probability, climate change is an enormous problem," concluded EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson in a 130-page report. She found that projected levels of greenhouse gases "endanger the public health and welfare of current and future generations."

The finding came two years after the Supreme Court ruled the EPA had the authority to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions under the Clean Air Act.

Now the battle shifts from whether the gases should be regulated to how. The EPA's announcement puts pressure on Congress to enact its own restrictions this year, rather than leave all decisions up to the EPA.

New pollution limits seen for cars, big plants

WASHINGTON (AP) - Cars, power plants and factories could all soon face much tougher pollution limits.

The government took a major step in that direction Friday, concluding that carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases "endanger public health and welfare" under federal clean air laws, that they help cause climate change, or global warming and pose an enormous threat "in both magnitude and probability."

Meanwhile, in the very same news cycle, we see these empirical findings:

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow -- in April (Storm brings rain, strong winds to Las Vegas region)

Storm to grind on into Saturday (A strong spring storm will continue to move over Colorado on Saturday. Heavy, wet snow is expected for many areas with the most significant accumulation in the foothills and down near Monument Hill.)

Snowing and skiing...in LATE MAY!

Oh yeah, it’s really warm out there in late spring. Still snow...someone tell the lefties in Vermont that there’s global warming, and hurry! And it looks as if the liberal Northwest is having the same story...snow, snow, snow, with record-breaking ski seasons. Yep, global warming sure is a problem...and it’s almost June!

Oh that’s right...they’ve
revised their gloomy predictions on this past winter because of La Nina (10 more years of Pacific-driven cooling NOW expected to mask global warming...LOL!). How convenient...or inconvenient for them (depending on how one looks at it).

Mud, snow to greet Memorial Day hikers

There's nothing like a little fresh snow and lots of old mud to liven up an early summer hike.

Which is exactly what people are likely to find near the peaks of Vermont's higher mountains this Memorial Day weekend, due to the snowy winter and some fresh flurries this week.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday, 18 inches of snow remained on the ground near the top of Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak. The snow cover includes some of the 3.5 inches of fresh fluff that descended on the mountaintop Monday. More light snow is likely over northern Vermont summits today and Thursday, the National Weather Service in South Burlington said.

In Burlington, the latest spring snow flurry on record came May 31, 1945, according to National Weather Service data.

No snow will fall in the valleys this week, meteorologists said. Instead, chilly rain showers are forecast with temperatures in the low- and mid-50s. That's about 15 degrees colder than normal for this time of year.

Long range forecasts suggest this weekend will turn sunnier and warmer.

Many ski areas finish with record-breaking seasons

Ski areas throughout the Northwest had such great snow in the 2007-08 winter that neither its November absence nor its road-closing, midwinter surplus could prevent a banner year for the winter-sports industry.

Several resorts - including the Summit at Snoqualmie - set new highs in skier/snowboarder visits and others, like White Pass, had seasons that ranked among their all-time best.

Snoqualmie's total of 714,000 user visits through April 30 already was more than 100,000 higher than its previous best winter. Washington's 49 Degrees North and Oregon's Mount Hood Meadows both set all-time records for skier visits, and White Pass had one of its top five years, with about 130,600 visits.

In all, Washington ski resorts will finish with about 2.1 million visits, about 50,000 off the record winter of 2001-02.

Meanwhile, the
fruitcakes in San Francisco continue to show their true colors—the fruity colors of the AGW rainbow! A pollution tax is on the way for you true believers out there to halt the global warming that doesn’t exist.

They’ll feel better about themselves soon, because you can see in the article that they’re admitting this effort is for nothing—it will do nothing
except raise taxes, which is all the liberals really want anyway. After you feel better about the tax, you San Franciscans can return to your lattes and various other socialist and liberal activities.

SF Becomes First In Nation To Charge 'Pollution Fee'

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Bay Area Air Quality Management District's board of directors on Wednesday approved new rules to charge businesses a fee for the pollution they emit.

The group's board of directors voted 15-1 on unprecedented new rules that will impose fees on factories, power plants, oil refineries and other businesses that emit carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases.

The agency, which regulates air pollution in the nine-county Bay Area, will be the first in the country to charge companies fees based on their greenhouse gas emissions, experts say. The new rules will take effect July 1.

The modest fee -- 4.4 cents per ton of carbon dioxide -- probably won't be enough to force companies to reduce their emissions, but backers say it sets an important precedent in combating climate change and could serve as a model for regional air districts nationwide.

EPA: stop breathing! It's a pollutant?

Deep-BreathThe government (i.e., we the people...) may soon need more revenue (i.e., our taxes) to clean up our breath, since the very fact that we breath is heating up the Earth to the point of killing us all, LOL.

FOXNews.com - Junk Science: Breath Is Toxic Waste? - Opinion:

The federal government soon may declare your very breath to be toxic regardless of its minty freshness.

Consistent with last spring’s Supreme Court ruling that the Environmental Protection Agency may regulate carbon dioxide as a hazardous air pollutant, the agency is evaluating how CO2 could be regulated as a hazardous substance under its notorious Superfund program, according to Carbon Control News from March 4.

So at the risk of exhaling and being held retroactively liable (more on that later), let’s take a deep breath and consider the potential impact of likening CO2 to the substances of concern at Love Canal, Times Beach and the thousands of other former and current Superfund waste sites and dumps across the nation.
