Junk Science: NASA prophet trips over facts, falls on face

Steven Milloy of junkscience.com does his usual good job of poking holes in the hyperbole of AGW believers, but particularly against our old non-friend, Dr. James Hansen—the chief climate soothsayer who prophesied twenty years ago while testifying before the U.S. Senate that our destruction at the hands of CO2 would take twenty years! Here we are twenty years later...still here, with the global mean temperature continuing its downward trend as CO2 continues rising (still in minute proportions compared to water and methane).

Before you decide to give Hansen his props as some unassailable, incorruptible climate scientist, you should check out these links at the U.S. Senate Committee for Environment and Public Works (currently the minority page). There is a ton of information here about Hansen, including his financial ties to moveon.org benefactor, George Soros. Isn't that cute? We hear incessantly that climate scientists who debunk global warming are in the pockets of "big oil," and yet here is an example where the "Father of Global Warming" (yes, weird that honor is not reserved for Al Gore) is in the pocket of one of the wealthiest liberal elites to ever walk the ever-cooling Earth.

As an added bonus, John McCain is showing that he’s Obama’s equal on climate stupidity. OR maybe he believes that the American public has been so brainwashed that he has no choice politically but to get on-board with the insanity. It might be a smart political move, but it’s ultimately bad for America.

Look folks, there may be a future in America without oil, but in the near term, oil will be required to continue driving our economy. There’s currently no energy source that is as efficient and as safe as petrol, though some arguments could be made for nuclear energy.

With Y2K, millions were spent to head-off a problem that never occurred. People everywhere panicked and hoarded food, fuel, medicine, and so on, preparing for the coming apocalypse. Proponents would say that spending those millions prevented the disaster, but I’m not certain that’s the case—there was no real way to be completely prepared.

Now, we’re poised to spend trillions in hopes of reducing CO2 emissions, and I contend that it won’t make much of a difference. Wait and see, sheep. The Earth will not succumb to disaster at our hands, and the alarmists will be able to shout that their enacted, expensive solutions made the difference! That’s why they need to sustain the pipe-dream until some sort of large government action is taken; then they can claim their actions led to success. Wait and see, sheep, wait and see. One can almost read this boondoggle like a cheap novel.

Junk Science: Where's McCain’s 'Fuel Cell Express'?

NASA’s James Hansen tried this week to surf the 20th anniversary of his famous congressional testimony that launched global warming hysteria. Apparently not wanting to be left out of the green hoopla, John McCain tried to catch Hansen’s wave.

Both wiped out with embarrassing proposals.

You might have thought that Hansen’s main talking point this week would have been, "See, I was right." But, of course, he wasn’t, so he couldn’t take any credit.

With 20 years of real-life data to compare against Hansen’s 1988 predictions, it’s clear that reality has way underperformed on his fantasy of carbon-dioxide-stoked warming.

No doubt this is in large part due to Hansen’s yet-to-be-validated assumption that manmade CO2 emissions drive global climate in a meaningful way.

Hansen has been so far off the mark in forecasting global warming that he seems to have forsaken it altogether in favor of simply declaring that atmospheric CO2 levels must be reduced from the current level of about 380 parts per million to less than 350 ppm "to preserve creation, the planet on which civilization developed."

But there is no scientific analysis to support 350 ppm or any other specific target as the preferred level of atmospheric CO2; moreover, 350 ppm also is not something likely to happen in our lifetimes no matter what we do.

***

Bereft of science, Hansen was left to do what he does best — act the drama queen, as he did in 2006 when he likened the Bush administration to Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union for reviewing his public presentations before he made them.

***

Earlier this week, as part of his proposal that taxpayers award $300 million to the developer of the next generation auto battery that would leapfrog hybrid and electric car technology, McCain also proposed that auto manufacturers be given a $5,000 tax credit for every zero-emissions vehicle they sell.

But when you do the math, McCain’s proposal turns out to be little more than a taxpayer rip-off in favor of ZEV makers

Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud

Theweatherchannel

Here's one that was never reported anywhere really, except FOX News. This fact proves the story's level of devastation. Heidi Cullen, alarm-o-scientist extraordinaire at The Weather Channel, gets more attention than this guy? John Coleman, first weatherman of ABC's Good Morning America, created The Weather Channel! Should we give him a little attention or credence? Or should we follow Cullen's advice and pull his accreditation for daring to question AGW? Coleman recently called manmade global warming the "greatest scam in history."

He's being ignored because they want his level-headedness to go away. Remember? No debate allowed! Especially in a highly visible forum like a court case that the media will be FORCED to cover.

We can't start swaying the hypnotized believers now...we've got 50% of the public convinced that AGW is real so far! The grant money is coming in for additional research; people are buying stupid, mercury-tainted light bulbs; the U.N. keeps exclaiming doom each year (even though the temperatures have gone down); and people are close to accepting more government control worldwide to solve "the manmade problem."

Is Al Gore committing fraud with his carbon credit company (where he buys credits from himself to offset his own gluttonous energy use)? The answer there is a big ol' YES! Let's not forget the fraud of his film, his Nobel Prize fraud, and the Oscar fraud (which really isn't fraud considering from where that came). Remember, solutions to global warming WILL NOT HURT RICH ELITES like Al Gore; the poor and middle classes of the world will bear the price and tax burden to solve this nonexistent problem. We're already seeing it with the price of food.

Read more of Coleman's great work here, and in his excellent white paper entitled, "Comments on Global Warming." And keep in mind, Dr. Cullen hangs out with the likes of Al Gore, Dr. Hansen
Heidicullen
at NASA, and other members of the alarmist political hierarchy; she's the one who stated that any meteorologist not believing in global warming should lose their official recognition by the AMS. How's that for trying to silence those who want to DEBATE you??!! She's also the one claiming that global warming isn't political at all. Don't be duped by the little bug-eyed, toothy weather cutie at The Weather Channel.

FOXNews.com - Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News:

The founder of the Weather Channel wants to sue Al Gore for fraud, hoping a legal debate will settle the global-warming debate once and for all.

John Coleman, who founded the cable network in 1982, suggests suing for fraud proponents of global warming, including Al Gore, and companies that sell carbon credits.

"Is he committing financial fraud? That is the question," Coleman said.

NOAA: AGW not causing increased hurricane destruction

Hurricane
'Nuff said. Can we have the Gore-Christ's Oscar and Nobel Prize back now?

NOAA: Hurricane frequency and global warming NOT the cause of increased destruction « Watts Up With That?:

A team of scientists have found that the economic damages from hurricanes have increased in the U.S. over time due to greater population, infrastructure, and wealth on the U.S. coastlines, and not to any spike in the number or intensity of hurricanes.
“There is nothing in the U.S. hurricane damage record that indicates global warming has caused a significant increase in destruction along our coasts.”

Dr. James Hansen, NASA scientist and "climate authority"

Jhansen
Dr. James Hansen, a climatologist employed by NASA, is another AGW-proponent, who claimed earlier that President Bush tried to silence his "research" showing that man's capitalistic activities are causing the Earth to heat up. Hansen has described all scientifically-connected cynics and skeptics of global warming ("deniers," if you will) as corrupted by the influences of big oil interests. If Al Gore is the messiah of the new "consensus" religion known as anthropogenic global warming (or "manmade climate change"), then Hansen would be the equivalent of a devoted disciple.

Recently in the news, his advocacy has been touted once again, as he proclaims, "the time to act is running out," which sounds remarkably close to the Gore-Christ's assertion: "the time for debate is over." Note also the recurring "polar bear" theme that the media continues to spread as a reason to ACT NOW...BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

AccuWeather.com: Global Warming News, Science, Myths, Articles:

This i[s] the final part of Katie's one-on-one interview with lead NASA scientist Dr. James Hansen. Dr. Hansen talks about the weather and climate. There is also an interesting link between Dr. Hansen and Seinfeld.

Katie also discusses the latest news on the the protection of the polar bear...

Environment Blog Posts powered by BlogBurst | Reuters.com:
Last week, NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) announced that 2007 tied 1998 for the Earth's second warmest year in a century. If you remember, I recently blogged about NOAA's annual temperature report, which stated that 2007 was the 5th warmest on record globally. The research team, led by Dr. James Hansen, who was recently interviewed by AccuWeather.com, used temperature data from weather stations...
Here's what Katie doesn't tell you about Dr. Hansen. As he huffs-and-puffs about President Bush and biased scientists out there who he thinks are trying to debunk his efforts, he fails to mention his own biased, political connections (and they're connections to political cash).

The Provocateur: George Soros= The Political Keyser Soze:

A report revealed just this week, shows the ‘Open Society Institute’ funded Hansen to the tune of $720,000, carefully orchestrating his entire media campaign. OSI, a political group which spent $74 million in 2006 to “shape public policy,” is funded by billionaire George Soros, the largest backer of Kerry’s 2004 Presidential Campaign. Soros, who once declared that “removing Bush from office was the ”central focus" of hislife, has also given tens of millions of dollars to MoveOn.Org and other political action groups.

Certainly Soros has a right to spend his own money. But NASA officials have a responsibility to accurate, unbiased, nonpartisan science. For Hansen to secretly receive a large check from Soros, then begin making unsubstantiated claims about administrative influence on climate science is more than suspicious — it’s a clear conflict of interest...

Predictably, the news media has been silent on this revelation. The disciple is now Judas and a threat to the Gore-Christ.
