Mexican scientist: Get ready for next "little ice age"

Think there's "consensus"? Me thinks not. We keep hearing this one bantered about every few months. Now, wait! You mean the Sun could help vary our climate??!! No way! It's La Nina, damn you!

An expert from the National Autonomous University of Mexico predicted that in about ten years the Earth will enter a "little ice age" which will last from 60 to 80 years and may be caused by the decrease in solar activity.

Victor Manuel Velasco Herrera, a researcher at the Institute of Geophysics of the UNAM, as argued earlier during a conference that teaches at the Centre for Applied Sciences and Technological Development.

NYT admits Medieval Warm Period

Look carefully at the NYT's "unbiased" review of this book. They acknowledge something that warmaholics seldom admit; the Medieval Warm Period (or the "Little Climate Optimum"), which preceded the last "Little Ice Age." The LCO completely destroys the theory of the "hockey stick" graph, originally touted by the IPCC as proof of global warming. This graph has since been thoroughly debunked.

Though the Time's reviewer gives credit where credit is due, they also begin to make some far-reaching claims as to the negatives of so-called climate change in the warming direction. Do we REALLY know that warming killed off the Mayans? I don't think so. The word "appalling" as a debit certainly paints with a broad stroke of impending, manmade disaster.

Here's what's hidden and not admitted: NATURAL CLIMATE CHANGE HAPPENS. Get over it people. We aren't causing it with poot gas.

If you don’t think climate change produces winners as well as losers, consider this: In the 12th and 13th centuries England exported wine to France. Vineyards also flourished in improbable regions like southern Norway and eastern Prussia. A centuries-long spell of mild, predictable weather blessed Western Europe with abundant crops, healthy populations and budget surpluses sufficient to finance projects like Chartres Cathedral.

This is the credit side of a global balance sheet carefully itemized by Brian Fagan in “The Great Warming,” his fascinating account of shifting climatic conditions and their consequences from about A.D. 800 to 1300, often referred to as the Medieval Warm Period. The debit side is appalling: widespread drought, catastrophic rainfall, toppled dynasties, ruined civilizations. Abandoned Maya temples in the Yucatan and the desolation of Angkor Wat, supreme achievement of the Khmer empire, bear witness to climatic change against which royal power and priestly magic proved impotent.

New York Times Blogger turns against AGW religion

The AGW cult takes another hit, as a liberal scientist turns on the garbage religion that is manmade climate change. Folks, before the last so-called "Little Ice Age," there was a brief period of warming called "The Little Climate Optimum." During this time, disease rates were reduced because swamps were drying up; southern England actually had vineyards that were rivaling those in France. Then the freakin' cold came, hung around for a lot longer, and brought disease and misery with it.

Halting climate change would reduce cumulative mortality from various climate-sensitive threats, namely, hunger, malaria, and coastal flooding, by 4–10 percent in 2085, while increasing populations at risk from water stress and possibly worsening matters for biodiversity. But according to cost information from the U.N. Millennium Program and the I.P.C.C., measures focused specifically on reducing vulnerability to these threats would reduce cumulative mortality from these risks by 50–75 percent at a fraction of the cost of reducing greenhouse gases (GHGs). Simultaneously, such measures would reduce major hurdles to the developing world’s sustainable economic development, the lack of which is why it is most vulnerable to climate change.

To summarize, the costs of helping develop the world and dealing with the consequences of warming (if there really is any warming) are FAR CHEAPER to mankind than attempting some idiotic, expensive shenanigans that will do little to nothing.

Even liberals are beginning to smell a rat and grow restless. The Gore-Christ had better hurry and get his paid speaking engagements in before the well "INCONVENIENTLY" dries up!
