Did CA Reverse Course on Crap-&-Tax?

No clue if California passed this or not, but I hope they reversed course. If they passed it then they give me hope that their state is not entirely stupid.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- If California were a country, it would be the world's 19th largest polluter. Recognizing that, a few years ago lawmakers here passed AB 32, a first in the nation 'cap and trade' type anti-global warming bill.

But come Tuesday, voters here have the opportunity to turn back the clock. Proposition 23 would stop the state's "Global Warming Solutions Act' from taking effect in January.

Proposition 23 would put a hold on the new emission standards until the state's unemployment rate drops to 5.5 percent or less for an entire year. The last time that occured was in the 1970s.

New Term: Gore-pocrite

Al Gore has been caught in hypocritical climate behavior so many times now that he deserves a new term: Gore-pocrite!

Recently, Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore toured again. Or maybe he does that all the time. This time, he turned up in Gothenburg (Sweden) for the usual alarmist talk. In advance, all distinguished guests were politely advised to – if possible – use any form of public transportation to go to the event, in order to minimize CO2 emissions.

Intriguingly, the Master of World Climate himself arrived in a rental car (with or without driver is unclear), from the airport, and subsequently left the engine running for the entire lecture. That is to say, about one hour. Incidentally, local legislation prohibits – for very good environmental reasons, i e pollution – any car engine running on empty for more than 60 seconds. Fines are severe. As far as I know, he was not fined.

It starts to form a pattern.

Animal Death-Watch: Global Extinction Coming!

Extinction is an oft-reappearing story from the environmentalists looking to scare us about their little myth of global warming. Meanwhile, plenty of new species are discovered all the time. Interesting, eh?

Read more Animal Death-Watch posts.

A growing number of creatures could disappear from the earth, with one-fifth of all vertebrates and as many as a third of all sharks and rays now facing the threat of extinction, according to a new survey assessing nearly 26,000 species across the globe.

Virgin's Space Tourism Will Increase AGW

Global warming, climate change, or 'global climate disruption' (as Thulsa Doom Obama's minions like to now call it) is complete BS, but it's interesting that 'climate champion' Richard Branson would be responsible for something like this...LOL!

Climate change caused by black carbon, also known as soot, emitted during a decade of commercial space flight would be comparable to that from current global aviation, researchers estimate.

The findings, reported in a paper in press in Geophysical Research Letters1, suggest that emissions from 1,000 private rocket launches a year would persist high in the stratosphere, potentially altering global atmospheric circulation and distributions of ozone. The simulations show that the changes to Earth's climate could increase polar surface temperatures by 1 °C, and reduce polar sea ice by 5–15%.

Gov't Motors' Volt is Really Oil-to-Volt

Surprise saps! There are no 'shovel-ready' jobs as Thulsa Doom Obama has himself FINALLY admitted, after touting them for a year to pass the huge 'economic stimulus' that didn't stimulate anything except voter discontent, and it turns out that 'green tech' is a big ol' lie, too, at Government Motors.

The 'electric car'? It's a gas-powered hybrid. Surprise!

Green Technology: Government Motors' all-electric car isn't all-electric and doesn't get near the touted hundreds of miles per gallon. Like "shovel-ready" jobs, maybe there's no such thing as "plug-ready" cars either.

The Chevy Volt, hailed by the Obama administration as the electric savior of the auto industry and the planet, makes its debut in showrooms next month, but it's already being rolled out for test drives by journalists. It appears we're all being taken for a ride.

The gasoline engine has been found to be more than a range-extender for the battery. Volt engineers are now admitting that when the vehicle's lithium-ion battery pack runs down and at speeds near or above 70 mph, the Volt's gasoline engine will directly drive the front wheels along with the electric motors. That's not charging the battery — that's driving the car.

Vaclav Klaus: Climate Change "no threat"

There's plenty of stuff to read by the Czech President on this blog. Thank you for your leadership, Sir.

LONDON, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Climate change is not a threat and the consequences of global warming will not be catastrophic, the President of the Czech Republic said on Tuesday.

Vaclav Klaus is a vocal sceptic on the topic of global warming. He published a book in 2007 in which he said global warming had turned into a new religion, an ideology that threatens to undermine freedom and the world's economic and social order.

"Global warming in the last 150 years was modest and future warming and its consequences will not be dangerous or catastrophic. It doesn't look like a threat we should respond to," he told a lecture in London on Tuesday.
"I don't see empirical evidence of human-caused global warming. I see so many mistakes in the methodology of science and modelling," he added.

However, public opinion has shown resistance to strong action to combat climate change, especially after a U.N. summit in Copenhagen last year failed to seal a global deal on cutting greenhouse gas emissions and scandals emerged surrounding climate science.

U.N.'s Pachuri Surprised by Scandal Outrage

These schmucks just don't get it. In one year, SEVERAL climate change scandals were revealed (see Climategate, NASA-gate, Glacier-gate, Rainforest-gate, and Netherland-gate). All of these "respectable, scientific" agencies were caught manipulating data, hiding data, destroying data, conspiring to limit legitimate scientific debate (from skeptical climate scientists), and in this case, quoting environmentalist propaganda as scientific fact (when, IN FACT, it wasn't true). The media has been in an accomplice by REFUSING to cover any of these stories.

All of these scandals prove what 'deniers' and 'skeptics' have been saying all along: global warming is a trumped-up capitalism killer. That's all it is and ever will be.

The head of the UN climate science body has admitted he was taken entirely by surprise by the ferocious public reaction to a blunder in its report on Himalayan glaciers. But he insisted the controversy had not set back efforts to secure action on climate change.

The mistake, a false assertion that the Himalayan glaciers would disappear by 2035, exacted severe damage to the reputation of the IPCC and its head, Rajendra Pachauri. It also provided further fuel to the controversy over the emails stolen from East Anglia's climate research unit and released online a year ago today.

GASP!: UN Conference: 'We Are Destroying Life on Earth'

See the silliness of this? You'd think the U.N. climate folks didn't realize that they were just caught up in climate change scandals, whereby they were doing some shady things to paint a picture far worse than reality as it relates to manmade global warming.

Need more fear and silliness? See the GASP! series and warmlist.

Despite the U.N.'s fear that biodiversity may be at risk, scientists over the past decade have identified new species at an unprecedented rate. The 2008 World Wildlife Fund (WWF) study First Contact in the Greater Mekong reported that 1,068 species were discovered or newly identified by science between 1997 and 2007 -- averaging two new species a week. And the Census of Marine Life -- an ambitious, 10-year project to catalog the diversity of the world's oceans -- recently concluded, having identified more than 6,000 potentially new ocean-going species.

Scientists have a growing understanding of the wealth of life on Earth, and the conference argues that our diversity is being threatened. The two-week U.N. meeting faces an uphill battle as it tries to institute sweeping steps to protect and restore ecosystems such as forests, rivers, coral reefs and the oceans that are vital for an ever-growing human population. Issues of funding will be a key problem delegates will need to iron out -- both who pays for the program and who reaps the rewards of the world's biodiversity.

Gore: EtOH 'Not Good Policy'

Really Al? If you had asked us back about 3 years ago when you started in on this biofuels business, we could have told you what a moron you were being (kind of like the moron you're being on everything related to this science-warping, global-warming bullshit). How about going a step further? Why not admit that this entire thing is one giant, government-backed boondoggle (because it is). Climate fear is nothing but a means to seize greater power and resources for the government, which means that capitalism must take it on the chin for socialism to prevail.

Of course (like a lot of liberal policies), biofuels had a different effect than intended. It raised the price of food (making the poor more at risk in the world) and raised the price of fuel (making the economy worse...something a lot of liberals wanted anyway). And since global warming isn't real, it didn't do a damn thing to the climate.

ATHENS, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Former U.S. vice-president Al Gore said support for corn-based ethanol in the United States was "not a good policy", weeks before tax credits are up for renewal.

U.S. blending tax breaks for ethanol make it profitable for refiners to use the fuel even when it is more expensive than gasoline. The credits are up for renewal on Dec. 31.

Total U.S. ethanol subsidies reached $7.7 billion last year according to the International Energy Industry, which said biofuels worldwide received more subsidies than any other form of renewable energy.

"It is not a good policy to have these massive subsidies for (U.S.) first generation ethanol," said Gore, speaking at a green energy business conference in Athens sponsored by Marfin Popular Bank.

700 Alarmist Scientists Plan Campaign (Against 31,000+)

Apparently these schmucks have conveniently forgotten Climategate, NASA-gate, IPCC-gate--all of the climate scandals that broke over the past year and demonstrated what a bunch of shit this global warming lie is. Stay out of politics?!?! These alarmist, fear-mongering buttholes have NEVER stayed out of politics. All they've done is to seek global taxation and regulation to 'save us from ourselves.'

This is SO EASY to counter; simply enlist the THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of SKEPTICAL SCIENTISTS. Then maybe the world will get the picture that there is NO UNQUESTIONED CONSENSUS.

Reporting from Washington — Faced with rising political attacks, hundreds of climate scientists are joining a broad campaign to push back against congressional conservatives who have threatened prominent researchers with investigations and vowed to kill regulations to rein in man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

The still-evolving efforts reveal a shift among climate scientists, many of whom have traditionally stayed out of politics and avoided the news media. Many now say they are willing to go toe-to-toe with their critics, some of whom gained new power after the Republicans won control of the House in Tuesday's election.

On Monday, the American Geophysical Union, the country's largest association of climate scientists, plans to announce that 700 climate scientists have agreed to speak out as experts on questions about global warming and the role of man-made air pollution.

So Long, Crap-and-Tax

Looks like the proverbial CO2 poot winds have been taken out of these scam sails. Hallelujah!!!

The air has been taken out of the carbon trading market.

The only national carbon trading market in the U.S. will close its doors next month, due to stalled legislation in Congress and Republican gains in the midterm elections -- a major setback in efforts to regulate so-called greenhouse gases, which environmentalists argue contribute to global warming.

Since 2003, the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) has operated a voluntary network where companies can pledge to meet annual targets for the emissions of carbon from their factories and businesses. Those below the targets can sell surplus allowances or bank them; those above can purchase credits to offset their emissions -- similar to President Obama's stalled "cap and trade" legislation

But according to an advisory posted to the exchange's website, participants simply didn't want to trade in carbon credits without a legal requirement that they do so. Jeff Sprecher, chief executive of the InternationalExchange and CCX's owner, confirmed to the Financial Times that participants in the CCX's cap-and-trade system wanted to pull out.

$700K Cow Burp-Fart Study

Your tax dollars hard at work. We all know how detrimental farts are to the environment. Please shove a cork in it, immediately.

DURHAM – University of New Hampshire and outside researchers are creating a computer model to help organic dairy farmers cut greenhouse gas emissions such as methane, because Beano probably isn't an option.

Nitrogen- and carbon-based greenhouse gases are produced via a complicated system at dairy farms that is affected by everything from the weather to the soil to the feed to cow burps, among other things.

"Cows emit most of their methane through belching, only a small fraction from flatulence," said the project's principal investigator, Ruth Varner of UNH's Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space.

UNH has been awarded a $700,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture grant to create a computer model that measures the amount of greenhouse gases an organic dairy farm produces and thus provide ways to cut those emissions.

Soros' U.N. Panel Wants Global Climate Change Tax

These Communists just had their clocks cleaned in the 2010 elections but they'll never give up. They'll keep going until thinking Americans completely marginalize them like the radical psychos that they are.

It has ALWAYS been about socialism...ALWAYS about wealth redistribution. Never doubt that. Soros is wealthy...why doesn't HE fund this garbage himself?

At least $65 billion might be raised by taxing foreign-exchange transactions and auctioning pollution permits, a United Nations panel said today in a report recommending ways to finance aid for fighting global warming.

The panel, which includes billionaire investor George Soros and Larry Summers, director of President Barack Obama’s National Economic Council, said selling carbon-emissions permits would generate $38 billion and a financial transactions tax an additional $27 billion, according to the report released today.
